Review: June 28, 2014Completion: April 9, 2014

We love our new roof. We get tons of compliments. the slate style really matches the style of our house (built in 1690). Carefree for life. Overall, they did an exceptional job and were organized and professional. There was some slight mis-communication initially and I'm not sure where the link in the chain was broken, but it appeared someone was mis-instructed on which skylight to take out, either that, or he couldn't read the plans, but I'm not sure. In the end they remedied the problem. Sales person was very knowledgeable and friendly, but be prepared for him to overwhelm you with info (not a bad thing). We couldn't be happier with the product quality and look. Highly recommend this. They also offer financing which was helpful for us. see comments above questions 3 & 4 Best roof ever for quality and look

From our first meeting with Jonathan, who was professional, authentic and knowledgeable about roofing, we've had a wonderful experience with Interlock Roofing. The installation team was clean, courteous and skilled at their job. The best part is snow slides off the roof and no more leaks in the house. Nothing. it was all great. It was great, easy to set up and we love the look of the roof

I've had an Interlock metal roof on my house and garden shed for two years now. It's absolutely gorgeous. Everyone thinks it's a slate roof! I've had no problems with it. The installation was amazing! A crew of 11 showed up early in the morning and were almost completely done in one day on both buildings. They were so professional. I highly recommend Interlock for both their high quality product and their great people.

Review: March 31, 2003Completion: March 31, 2003

Just a note about the roof we installed in March of 2003. The first thing that we have to say is that the roof looks wonderful; it’s the best one on the street. A neighbor two houses down the street had a new asphalt roof installed shortly after we had our Interlock Roof installed. The neighbor across the street remarked that our roof looked a lot better than the neighbor's. We have had quite a few neighbors stop and ask about the roof and remark how good it looks. Having the chimney flashed with a solid flashing (instead of step flashing) and the ducts matching the roof really makes the roof look finished off. Also, having them put vents on the back which match the roof looks finished off, so they are not noticeable. As far as the workmen and the quality of workmanship, we feel that it was done very professionally. We asked that they not start working until 8:00 am, and they waited until 8:30 am to start. They kept the grounds very clean even when they were stripping the roof. They hung tarps so nothing could or would damage either the house or any plants which are around the house. They were very friendly and courteous. In closing, we are very pleased with the roof and the professionalism of the workers.

Review: November 7, 2017Completion: October 12, 2017

Communication after the job was a bit lacking, when we had a couple of questions about signage left out front. Everything leading up to the project was perfect! We love the look and quality of our new roof. Your process was exceptional, and your staff great to deal with. The job was completed a month ahead of schedule and took half the time that we were expecting. We hope to never have to use the warranty, but should we have to, I’m confident that we will be taken care of. Great job!

The workers were very professional ,did a great job and left no mess. Customer service was very easy to ask any questions. Love my new roof and the company I chose to do it

I would recommend the Interlock Roofing System to anybody, my friends and neighbors were impressed by how nice my roof looks. The men that installed the roof were very respectful and courteous. I was shocked by how quickly they were able to install the Interlock Roofing System. Not only do I have a beautiful roof now, I have the " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty and you can transfer it to a new owner if I ever sell the house.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Miacomet

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Miacomet, Massachusetts. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Miacomet.

Will metal roofing handle Massachusetts freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes. Aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, so it withstands repeated expansion and contraction without cracking or splitting. Miacomet experiences about 44 freeze-thaw days per year and roughly 62 cm of snow annually—conditions that cause wood shingles and asphalt to fail prematurely. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty against chalking and fading) remains flexible across temperature swings, unlike brittle asphalt. Aluminum roofing manufactured since 1998 has been installed from coastal homes to Antarctic research stations without freeze-thaw degradation.

How does metal roofing perform under heavy snow loads?

Interlock metal roofing is engineered for heavy snow. With average annual snowfall of about 62 cm and typical wind gusts reaching 160 km/h, a solid metal surface sheds snow and ice more efficiently than asphalt, reducing ice dam formation along gutters. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels distribute weight evenly across your structure. Because the Shake profile weighs only 0.58 lb/sq ft and the Mediterranean Tile just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—your existing framing handles the load without reinforcement. Snow guards can be added if desired for aesthetic or safety reasons.

Can metal roofing handle the rain Nantucket gets?

Miacomet receives about 1157 mm of rain annually. The four-way interlocking panel design, combined with proper underlayment and a solid deck, creates a double-barrier system that eliminates water penetration at seams. Unlike asphalt shingles (which thin and curl over time), aluminum cannot split or rot, so water cannot find entry points. Installation over your existing roof is standard practice when the substrate is sound. The interlocking connection and slope ensure rapid drainage, which is especially important in climates with frequent rain and coastal humidity.

Is metal roofing secure in high-wind areas like coastal Massachusetts?

Yes. Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist 120 mph winds (193 km/h) when installed to spec. Miacomet's typical daily-max winds average 29 km/h with gusts to 160 km/h, well within this rating. The four-way interlocking panels lock tightly at all edges, preventing lift-off. Because aluminum contains no iron, it won't rust from salt spray or moisture exposure during harsh coastal weather. The Guardian warranty covers wind-related damage for the original owner for life, and transfers 50 years to the next owner—critical peace of mind in a coastal zone.

Will a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient colors reflect heat instead of absorbing it, reducing cooling demand. Aged Copper Penny and other qualifying profiles have thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55, meaning they bounce solar radiation away from your attic and interior. This matters in Miacomet, which receives about 3081 sunshine hours per year. Aluminum conducts heat quickly, so it cools rapidly when the sun sets or clouds appear. Cool Roof Rating Council certified profiles outperform asphalt shingles, which trap heat. Over a roof's 30–50 year life, the energy savings compound significantly, especially when combined with proper ventilation.

What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing?

The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. If you sell, the warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion. This security reflects the durability proven since 1998 manufacturing in Delta, BC. Because aluminum cannot rust and the Alunar 70% PVDF finish carries a 30-year chalking and fading warranty (measured to ASTM D4214/D2244 standards), structural and finish failures are rare. For a home in Miacomet's salt-air and freeze-thaw environment, transferable coverage is invaluable for resale confidence.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing?

Aluminum contains no iron—iron is what rusts when exposed to oxygen and moisture. Instead, aluminum forms a thin, invisible oxide layer that protects the metal beneath. If scratched or damaged, this oxide layer self-heals automatically in the presence of air. Miacomet's coastal location, salt spray, and 1157 mm annual rainfall create aggressive corrosion conditions for steel-based products. Interlock roofing is fabricated from roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209). The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating is applied to both sides of every panel—extra insurance against salt-air penetration. Steel would require constant maintenance or fail within years.

Do I need structural reinforcement for a metal tile roof?

No. The Mediterranean Tile profile installs at 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most existing roof structures safely handle this load without reinforcement, which saves thousands on framing upgrades. Shake weighs 0.58 lb/sq ft and Slate even less. This weight advantage becomes critical in regions with snow load (Miacomet averages 62 cm annually) because the light metal panel preserves structural capacity for snow and wind. You can often install directly over an existing asphalt or wood roof if the substrate is sound, avoiding costly tear-off and disposal—a major cost and sustainability win compared to replacing heavy tile.

What maintenance does a metal roof require?

Minimal compared to asphalt, wood, or tile. Aluminum does not split, curl, rot, or require regular replacement shingles. Gutters need annual clearing (like any roof), and occasional debris removal keeps the surface clean. Because Interlock aluminum roofing is non-combustible and holds its color under Miacomet's 3081 annual sunshine hours, you avoid repainting or sealing costs. Asphalt requires granule replacement and cracking repair every 10–15 years; wood shakes split and need frequent replacement; tile breaks under hail and freeze-thaw stress (about 44 freeze-thaw days yearly here). The 30-year coating warranty and lifetime Guardian warranty mean no expensive repairs or refinishing for decades. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance requirements.

Does metal roofing hold up to hail in New England?

Interlock metal roofing earns UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available hail classification. The warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Insurance companies recognize this durability and may offer discounts on comprehensive or weather-related coverage. Four-way interlocking aluminum panels distribute impact force across the system, preventing denting or deformation. Miacomet's climate, with coastal salt-air, freeze-thaw cycling, and occasional severe weather, demands impact-resistant roofing. Asphalt shingles offer no impact rating and fail under Class 3 or 4 hail; wood shakes crack and split; traditional tile breaks into pieces. Switching to Interlock can offset your roofing investment through insurance savings over the roof's lifetime.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Miacomet’s climate?

Yes. Miacomet averages about 62 cm of snow, 1157 mm of rain, roughly 44 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 160 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
