Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Lexington Township

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Lexington Township, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Lexington Township.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles in Minnesota winters?

Metal roofs shed snow effectively because of their smooth, hard surface and the thermal conductivity of aluminum, which helps prevent ice dams common in Lexington Township's roughly 95 cm of annual snowfall and 77 freeze-thaw days. Interlock panels' four-way interlocking design and low weight mean no structural reinforcement is needed, and the roof won't sag under repeated seasonal stress. Snow guards can be added if desired. Unlike asphalt, which becomes brittle in repeated freeze-thaw cycles, aluminum's oxide coating stays flexible and self-heals when scratched, so your roof adapts to Minnesota winters rather than degrading through them.

Why should I choose aluminum roofing over steel in a climate with snow and moisture?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the two metals that corrode are chemically absent. Instead, aluminum naturally forms a transparent oxide layer that protects the underlying metal and self-heals when scratched, so small damages from branches or maintenance don't start corrosion chains. With Lexington Township receiving about 861 mm of annual rain plus snowmelt, this passive protection is a real advantage over steel, which requires constant vigilance. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is the same material trusted in coastal salt-air environments and Antarctic research stations—far harsher than Minnesota's conditions.

Will a metal roof stay secure in Minnesota wind and ice storms?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, well above the gusts of about 99 km/h typical in Le Sueur County. The interlocking geometry distributes wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on fastener strength alone, and the lightweight design (about 0.41 to 0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile) means less uplift force. Combined with a proper deck and fastening pattern, this design has proven in high-wind regions from the coasts to mountain passes. Ice-laden roofs also add weight, but Interlock's engineered panels accommodate seasonal loading without compromise.

Does a metal roof protect against hail damage, and could it lower my insurance premiums?

Interlock metal roofing achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Because aluminum is non-combustible and impact-resistant, many insurers offer discounts; contact your agent with the ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation report and UL listing for verification. In a region with occasional severe weather, this combination of durability and insurance recognition provides real financial protection and peace of mind over decades.

Can my home's frame handle a metal roof, or will I need structural upgrades?

No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, installs at roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means the roof can often install directly over your existing asphalt shingles without adding structural strain. Even a 2,000 sq ft roof weighs only about 1,200 pounds total, comparable to a few occupants in an attic. This lightness is especially valuable in Minnesota's climate, where repeated snow loads (about 95 cm annually) stress traditional heavy roofing. Aluminum distributes that seasonal weight efficiently without concentrated point loads, protecting your home's frame over decades.

How does freeze-thaw cycling affect metal roofing in Minnesota winters?

Freeze-thaw cycles—Lexington Township averages about 77 per year—damage materials that absorb water and expand. Aluminum does neither. It's non-porous, so moisture can't penetrate and cause cracking or rot as it does in wood or asphalt. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214 and D2244) remains flexible through temperature swings and doesn't become brittle. Because the material itself is stable across the full Minnesota temperature range and sheds water instantly, repeated freeze-thaw causes no weakening. The result is a roof whose performance is essentially unchanged after 77 cycles each winter—year after year.

Is metal roofing really cheaper than asphalt over time?

Over a 50-year horizon, Interlock metal roofing is typically far less costly than the three to five asphalt roof replacements a Minnesota home requires. Asphalt roofing typically lasts 15–20 years before curling, cracking, and granule loss demand replacement—and each tear-off and haul-away adds labor and disposal costs. Interlock carries the Guardian Warranty: a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, transferable for 50 years to the next owner, covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and impact resistance loss. No re-roofing means no disruption, no waste to landfills, and no surprise costs. For a homeowner planning to stay put, Interlock is the last roof you'll need to buy.

How long does metal roofing installation take, and can it go over my existing roof?

Yes, Interlock panels can install directly over most existing asphalt roofs—no tear-off required. This saves labor, waste hauling, and time. Installation typically takes a few days to a week depending on roof complexity and team size, compared to a 1–2 week tear-off-and-rebuild cycle for asphalt. Because the panels are lightweight (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft), crews handle installation efficiently and safely even in Minnesota's variable spring or fall weather. The four-way interlocking design means each panel locks to its neighbors, creating a unified system as the installation progresses. A solid deck and proper underlayment—standard practice—ensure asphalt-level quiet performance.

Will a metal roof keep my home cooler and lower cooling costs?

energy-efficient Interlock colors with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 reflect heat rather than absorbing it like asphalt. In Lexington Township's roughly 3,163 annual sunshine hours, this reflectance reduces cooling load, especially in summer months. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification verifies this performance. While Minnesota summers are moderate, the benefit compounds over time: less air-conditioning use means lower utility bills and reduced strain on HVAC systems. The reflective coating also protects the panels themselves from thermal aging, supporting the 30-year coating warranty. Every climate benefits from lower heat absorption—even temperate ones.

How much maintenance does a metal roof actually require compared to asphalt or wood?

Interlock aluminum requires minimal maintenance—no annual inspections for curling, cracking, or granule loss as asphalt demands, and no moss or rot risks that wood shakes face. Occasional gutter cleaning and debris removal suffice. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (both sides of each panel) withstands Minnesota's 861 mm annual rain and variable UV exposure without chalking or fading for 30 years. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance needs. Unlike asphalt, which degrades visibly within a decade, or wood, which requires re-staining and monitoring, metal roofing simply ages without functional decline. This low-touch approach means more time enjoying your home and less spent on ladder work—a genuine quality-of-life improvement over decades of ownership.
