What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Kasota
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Kasota, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Kasota.
Will a metal roof hold up through Minnesota's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes—aluminum thrives in freeze-thaw conditions because it expands and contracts uniformly without degrading. Kasota experiences about 78 freeze-thaw days per year, which breaks down asphalt and causes wood to split and crack. Interlock's 3105-H24 aluminum alloy won't absorb moisture, so ice buildup won't compromise the panel itself. The four-way interlocking system allows controlled movement at seams, and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years) resists the salt-laden spray from winter road treatment. This durability is why Interlock installations have performed reliably from coastal salt-air environments to Antarctic research stations.
How does Interlock metal roofing handle heavy snow loads?
The panels shed snow efficiently while the light weight reduces structural stress. Kasota averages about 92 cm of snow annually, but metal's smooth surface and slight pitch encourage slide-off without ice dam formation. Unlike asphalt, which traps heat unevenly and accelerates ice damming, Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect incoming solar energy, keeping the roof surface cooler and more uniform. The four-way interlocking seams remain sealed even under snow load, and optional snow guards can be installed at eaves without reinforcement because the Slate profile weighs just 0.41 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile alternatives.
Can Interlock metal roofing withstand Minnesota windstorms?
Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Kasota's typical daily-max winds average 23 km/h, but gusts can reach 103 km/h—well within the system's performance envelope. The four-way interlocking design locks panels on all edges, distributing uplift forces evenly across the roof rather than concentrating stress on fasteners. Each profile from Slate to Mediterranean Tile uses the same proven interlocking geometry tested under ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 (current 2025 reissue for IBC/IRC compliance). Local installation to spec ensures seams remain secure across seasonal expansion and contraction cycles.
Does Interlock metal roofing qualify for hail damage coverage or discounts?
Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize this rating and offer premium discounts or broader coverage options compared to asphalt, which dents and splits under hail. Check with your agent about potential savings; the non-prorated lifetime limited warranty on material means any impact damage is covered under the same terms as manufacturing defects. Over Kasota's 78 freeze-thaw days per year, the aluminum's oxide layer self-heals from minor scratches and UV exposure, maintaining the coating's integrity and your coverage eligibility long-term.
Why doesn't Interlock aluminum roofing rust in wet, salty climates?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the only metal that oxidizes to rust. Instead, aluminum forms a microscopically thin oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, providing permanent corrosion resistance. Kasota receives about 773 mm of rain annually plus winter road salt spray, conditions that would attack steel roofing or corrode fasteners on conventional systems. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum (ASTM B209) on both the panels and all fastening hardware, with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides for extra protection in salt-air exposure. This means your roof won't require replacement due to rust—only due to physical damage or aesthetic choice.
Does metal roofing require expensive structural upgrades to my home?
No—Interlock's featherweight aluminum eliminates the need for structural reinforcement. The Mediterranean Tile profile, which replicates the look of heavy clay or concrete tile, installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than the real thing. Most Kasota homes can support this weight over existing roof systems, meaning installation typically proceeds without costly framing upgrades. Compare this to asphalt shingles (about 2–3 lb/sq ft per layer), and you're actually reducing load. The system installs over existing roofs in many cases, further cutting labor and disposal costs. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms installation compliance on standard residential framing.
Will an Interlock metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?
energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect heat rather than absorbing it, lowering cooling costs especially on sunny days. Kasota receives about 3,209 sunshine hours per year, and reflective coatings with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) redirect that energy away from your home's interior. Asphalt absorbs the same solar radiation and transfers it as heat into the attic, forcing air conditioning to work harder. Interlock's Cool Roof Rating Council certification quantifies this benefit. During Minnesota's 78 freeze-thaw cycles annually, the consistent reflectance also helps maintain stable roof temperatures, reducing thermal stress on panels and seams.
How much maintenance does a metal roof actually require?
Interlock requires virtually no maintenance beyond occasional gutter cleaning—no sealing, patching, or coating reapplication. Asphalt shingles need regular inspection and replacement of failed shingles; cedar shake requires annual staining to prevent rot and splitting. Kasota's 92 cm annual snowfall and 773 mm rain won't degrade aluminum panels or the Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214/D2244). The four-way interlocking seams remain sealed without caulk maintenance. Self-healing oxide layer repairs minor scratches automatically. Your main task is keeping gutters clear—the same routine asphalt requires, but with far fewer costly repairs over the roof's 50+ year lifespan.
What's the real difference between Interlock's lifetime warranty and typical asphalt warranties?
Interlock's Guardian Warranty is non-prorated (full coverage, zero deductible) for the original owner's lifetime, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once to the next owner for 50 years from completion—a powerful resale asset. Asphalt warranties are prorated (coverage declines year by year) and typically non-transferable, expiring when you sell. Interlock's material warranty is backed by aluminum's intrinsic durability: roofing-grade 3105-H24 alloy and Alunar 70% PVDF coating don't degrade the way asphalt oxidizes. In Kasota's 78 annual freeze-thaw cycles, asphalt loses flexibility and cracks; aluminum remains stable. The transferability means your buyer knows the roof has genuine backing, justifying a higher home value.
Is metal roofing actually better for the environment than asphalt?
Yes—Interlock aluminum is about 95% recyclable at end of life, while asphalt tear-offs go directly to landfill. Over Kasota's wet climate (773 mm annual rain, 92 cm snow), asphalt roofs typically last 15–20 years before replacement, creating a recurring landfill cycle. Interlock's 50+ year lifespan means one installation replaces multiple asphalt cycles. The lightweight aluminum also eliminates the fuel and carbon footprint of shipping and installing heavy materials, and reduces structural waste because no reinforcement is needed. When eventually recycled, aluminum retains its value and material properties indefinitely—unlike asphalt, which cannot be reused in roofing applications. Choosing Interlock breaks the tear-off-landfill cycle while delivering a roof that outlasts several generations of asphalt.
