What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Waterville
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Waterville, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Waterville.
How does a metal roof handle Minnesota's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Waterville receives about 94 cm of snow annually across roughly 76 freeze-thaw days, creating conditions where material brittleness and expansion matter. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) remains flexible through repeated freezing and thawing without cracking or curling—unlike asphalt shingles or wood that degrade under this stress. The four-way interlocking panels shed snow and ice cleanly because aluminum's smooth surface prevents ice bonding. Snow guards are available if you want controlled shedding. The material's lightweight design (Shake profile at ~0.58 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed, even with typical snow loads in Le Sueur County.
Will a metal roof rust in Minnesota's wet climate?
No—aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Waterville averages 860 mm of annual rainfall and occasional high humidity, yet aluminum's oxide layer forms instantly when exposed to air and self-heals when scratched, creating a natural protective barrier. Interlock panels use roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy with a two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (the same coating protects both top and bottom surfaces, critical in salt-air regions worldwide). This dual-side coating is warranted for 30 years against chalking and fading under ASTM D4214 testing. The result: your roof resists the wet-dry cycles typical of Minnesota without the rust concerns that plague steel roofing or the rot risk of wood shingles.
Can a metal roof withstand Minnesota's wind gusts?
Yes. Waterville experiences typical daily-max winds of about 23 km/h with gusts reaching 96 km/h, and Interlock panels are warranted to resist sustained wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking system locks panels together in all directions, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than stressing individual fasteners. This mechanical redundancy explains why the same system performs from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations. For your region's wind profile, the interlocking design means you're protected well beyond the gusts you'll encounter, with the warranty backing that promise in writing.
Does a metal tile roof need structural reinforcement like real tile does?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so your home's framing handles it without upgrades. Real tile often requires $10,000+ in beam and truss reinforcement; Interlock installs directly over most existing roofs, saving labor and cost. This light weight also means the roof itself contributes negligible dead load during Le Sueur County's 76 annual freeze-thaw cycles, reducing structural stress when water trapped in crevices expands. The ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790, reissued 2025) confirms the system meets building code for weight and load paths, so inspectors and contractors understand the engineering without speculation.
Why does my asphalt roof fail faster in Minnesota than elsewhere?
Waterville's 76 freeze-thaw days per year accelerate asphalt degradation because repeated expansion and contraction opens cracks and curls shingles. Water enters those cracks, freezes, expands, and forces pieces apart. Asphalt also hardens and becomes brittle in cold, losing flexibility. Interlock aluminum, by contrast, flexes elastically through thousands of freeze-thaw cycles without cracking or curling because aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is engineered for exactly this stress. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating remains stable across the full temperature range your region experiences (mean annual 8.3°C with seasonal extremes well below freezing), so the warranty covers material degradation even after decades of cycling. You're essentially replacing a consumable material every 15-20 years with one that outlasts the freeze-thaw effect itself.
Will a metal roof hold up in a hailstorm, and can I get insurance breaks?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 requires the panel to withstand repeated 2-inch steel ball drops from 20 feet without cracking or permanent deformation. Many insurers recognize this resilience and offer premium discounts on homes with Class 4 metal roofs, sometimes recovering your material cost premium within 5-10 years. Given that Waterville receives about 860 mm of annual rainfall and operates in a region prone to spring and summer convection storms, the combination of impact resistance and insurance savings is a genuine economic advantage over asphalt (which typically rates Class 1-2 and triggers hail damage claims).
How long does Interlock metal roofing actually last, and what does the warranty cover?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. That's one document for the entire roof's life, with no cost-share or deductible on material. When you sell, the warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion—a significant resale advantage in Minnesota's competitive market. The actual lifespan exceeds 50 years because the roofing-grade aluminum (ASTM B209) and two-sided Alunar 70% PVDF coating (30-year fade/chalk warranty) don't degrade like asphalt. You're buying the last roof you'll install; after 25+ years of near-zero maintenance, you'll understand why the warranty reads the way it does.
Does a metal roof help lower cooling costs in summer?
Yes, certain energy-efficient Interlock colors reduce cooling load. These profiles achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning they reflect the heat that dark asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your attic. Waterville receives approximately 3,175 sunshine hours annually, so every sunny day, a reflective metal roof keeps that solar energy out of your home while an asphalt roof absorbs it and raises attic temperature by 20-40°F. The Cool Roof Rating Council has rated Interlock's reflective profiles, confirming measured performance. Over a Minnesota cooling season, the energy savings aren't dramatic, but they're real—and they compound over decades. Combined with the 76 freeze-thaw days annually, a reflective metal roof's stability means those energy gains persist for 50+ years without the efficiency loss that asphalt experiences as it ages and darkens.
What maintenance does a metal roof really need compared to asphalt or wood?
Interlock requires no roof-cleaning treatments, no coating reapplication, and no annual inspections like asphalt or wood shake demand. You occasionally clear gutters (same as any roof) and inspect flashing after severe weather—that's it. Asphalt shingles need algae treatment every few years in humid climates, wood shake requires annual inspection and sealing to prevent rot and insect damage, and tile needs mortar re-pointing. Waterville's 860 mm of annual rainfall and 94 cm of snow create damp conditions where wood degrades and algae thrives on asphalt; Interlock's non-porous aluminum surface and fluorocarbon coating eliminate both problems. The CALGreen building standard specifically verifies Interlock for reduced maintenance, which translates to lower lifecycle costs and zero risk of surprise repairs from hidden rot or algae damage over your 50-year ownership.
Is a metal roof better for the environment than asphalt shingles?
When you tear off an asphalt roof in 20 years, the old shingles go to the landfill—and you'll likely do this twice in a 40-year period. Interlock's roofing-grade aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, and when it does eventually reach end-of-life (after 50+ years), it has genuine salvage value. Aluminum recycling uses 5% of the energy required to mine and refine new aluminum, so each recycled pound makes economic and environmental sense. Over Waterville's 76 freeze-thaw days and 860 mm annual rainfall, asphalt degrades predictably, forcing replacement cycles; Interlock's freeze-thaw and moisture resistance means the recycling event happens once, not twice or thrice. You eliminate the landfill cycle while supporting a closed-loop supply chain. The material itself is manufactured in Delta, BC, reducing transportation carbon versus imported products, and it installs over existing roofs, eliminating tear-off waste from day one.
