What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Moland Township
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Moland Township, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Moland Township.
How does a metal roof handle Minnesota's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow effectively because the smooth, slippery surface prevents ice dams that trap moisture — a critical advantage in Moland Township's roughly 120 cm annual snowfall and 82 freeze-thaw days per year. The lightweight design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural upgrades needed even with snow loads, and the non-porous aluminum won't absorb meltwater. Unlike asphalt or wood shakes that deteriorate under repeated freezing and thawing, aluminum oxide self-heals when scratched, staying intact through decades of Minnesota winters. Snow guards are available if you prefer to retain snow for insulation.
Why won't my aluminum metal roof rust like steel roofing can?
Aluminum physically cannot rust because it contains no iron — rust requires iron oxide to form. Instead, aluminum develops a protective oxide layer that actually self-heals when the surface is scratched or damaged. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy per ASTM B209, plus a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating applied to both sides. This dual-layer protection is especially valuable in Moland Township's wet climate (about 550 mm rainfall annually), where moisture exposure is constant. Even in coastal salt-air installations worldwide, Interlock panels remain corrosion-free — a 30-year coating warranty backs that durability.
Can freeze-thaw damage degrade my metal roof over time in Minnesota?
No — aluminum's molecular structure means freeze-thaw cycles don't cause the cracking, splitting, or surface degradation that affect asphalt, wood shake, or concrete tile. Moland Township experiences roughly 82 freeze-thaw days annually, with temperatures crossing 0°C repeatedly; asphalt and wood absorb moisture and expand/contract, eventually breaking down. Aluminum doesn't absorb water, so expansion-contraction isn't a failure mechanism. The Alunar PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214) maintains its flexibility through temperature swings, resisting the brittle failure modes that plague traditional materials. Your roof's integrity actually improves with age as the aluminum oxide layer strengthens.
Will a metal roof stay put in Moland Township's spring and summer wind gusts?
Yes — Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Moland Township's typical peak gusts reach about 95 km/h, well within that safety margin. The interlocking geometry means wind cannot lift individual panels; the seams mechanically bind each piece to its neighbors, distributing load across the entire roof system. That's why the same product has been installed from coastal homes to an Antarctic research station since 1998 — extreme wind exposure proves the concept. Installation matters: a qualified local installer ensures fastening and underlayment are flawless, and Interlock has served this region since 2001.
Does a metal roof perform well in hailstorms, and could it lower my insurance costs?
Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That superior hail resistance often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because insurers recognize metal roofs file fewer claims than asphalt or wood. Moland Township's climate includes severe weather exposure; an aluminum roof's proven durability appeals to underwriters. Request a quote from your insurer mentioning the UL 2218 Class 4 certification and 120 mph wind warranty — those specifics carry weight in premium calculations. The non-combustible aluminum (Class A fire rating available) may unlock additional savings.
Can an aluminum metal roof reduce my summer cooling costs compared to asphalt?
Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect more solar heat than asphalt absorbs, lowering cooling load during the roughly 3,183 annual sunshine hours in Moland Township. The Aged Copper Penny finish delivers up to 0.55 initial solar reflectance and 0.84 emissivity, Cool Roof Rating Council rated. In summer, this reflectivity keeps attic and interior temperatures lower, reducing air conditioning runtime. The coating's 30-year warranty ensures reflectance remains stable long-term. Over a 50+ year roof life, energy savings compound significantly — you're not re-roofing with asphalt every 15-20 years and losing efficiency gains each time. The lightweight design also allows easier attic ventilation without structural compromise.
What's the real lifespan of a metal roof, and how does the warranty work?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner — covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years from completion. That means if you sell your Moland Township home, the buyer receives decades of protection, increasing curb appeal and resale value. Interlock panels have been manufactured since 1998 (26+ years in service), with field evidence showing 40+ year performance. Because aluminum doesn't degrade like asphalt (which re-hardens and cracks) or wood (which rots and splits), this is genuinely your last roof: no tear-off cycles, no maintenance surprises, no replacement planning.
Is the upfront cost of a metal roof worth it compared to asphalt shingles over the long term?
Yes — the lifetime limited warranty and 50+ year expected lifespan mean you'll never buy another roof, whereas asphalt requires replacement every 15-20 years. Over 50 years in Moland Township's climate (about 550 mm rain, 120 cm snow, 82 freeze-thaw days annually), asphalt endures constant moisture and thermal stress, necessitating 2-3 replacements. Each tear-off costs money and labor; each new installation resets the clock. Aluminum's oxide layer self-heals in that same harsh freeze-thaw cycle, so material degradation isn't a cost variable. Add energy savings (energy-efficiency reflectance reducing summer cooling) and potential insurance discounts (UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating), and the total cost of ownership — not just first cost — strongly favors the aluminum roof.
What's the installation process, and can you install a metal roof over my existing shingles?
Yes — Interlock's extreme lightness (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft, Tile at just 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile) means installation over most existing roofs requires no structural reinforcement. The local installer, serving the region since 2001, removes only debris and decayed material, then installs a solid underlayment and fastens the interlocking panels. The process is faster than full tear-off jobs, reducing labor costs and disruption. Moland Township's winter weather (120 cm snow accumulation, gusts to 95 km/h) demands careful timing; spring and fall are ideal. The interlocking design simplifies installation: panels align mechanically, reducing fastening points and speeding completion. A qualified installer ensures flashing, vents, and edge details meet ESR-1790 code requirements (ICC-ES evaluation report for IBC/IRC).
How much maintenance does a metal roof really need compared to wood or asphalt?
Minimal — Interlock's non-porous aluminum won't rot, split, or curl, eliminating the maintenance burden of wood shake or asphalt. There's no annual inspection for granule loss, no fungal growth in Minnesota's damp climate, no need to replace cracked or warped shingles. Debris (leaves, branches) should be cleared occasionally, and gutters kept clean — standard for any roof. The Alunar PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM D2244) means no repainting. Because snow slides freely on the smooth surface instead of ponding like on asphalt, ice dams don't trap moisture to accelerate deterioration. CALGreen verification recognizes the reduced maintenance burden. You'll spend your time on the house itself, not the roof — a substantial quality-of-life gain over 50+ years.
