What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Trempeleau Township
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Trempeleau Township, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Trempeleau Township.
How does a metal roof handle Minnesota's 100 cm of snow without ice dams?
Metal roofing sheds snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because its smooth, hard surface prevents the moisture grip that causes ice dam formation. Trempeleau Township receives about 101 cm of snow annually, and the four-way interlocking aluminum panels—installed over a solid deck and underlayment—create a unified thermal envelope that minimizes the cold spots where ice typically builds. The lightweight design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means snow load poses no structural concern, and optional snow guards can be installed if you prefer to retain snow for insulation or gradual melt.
Will freeze-thaw cycles in Minnesota damage aluminum roofing?
Aluminum is immune to freeze-thaw damage because it has no iron content and cannot rust or rot—the two failure modes that destroy asphalt and wood in cold climates. Trempeleau Township experiences about 81 freeze-thaw days annually, yet the roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) and its self-healing oxide layer remain structurally unchanged through countless cycles. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, protects the panels even as temperature swings between freezing and thaw extremes typical of your region's 8.5°C mean temperature.
Can metal roofing rust in Minnesota winters?
Aluminum roofing cannot rust because the material contains no iron—rust is strictly an iron-oxide problem. Instead, aluminum forms a transparent, self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal even if scratched during installation or storms. This is why Interlock has installed panels in salt-air coastal environments and Antarctic research stations since 1998: the alloy simply does not corrode the way steel roofing does. Your region's approximately 839 mm of annual rainfall and freeze-thaw cycling pose no threat to the core material, only to the coating—which is why the 30-year Alunar finish warranty is your real guarantee.
Are metal roofing panels secure in Trempeleau's wind gusts?
Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Trempeleau Township's typical gusts reach about 101 km/h, well within this threshold. The interlocking design means each panel is mechanically locked to its neighbors on all four sides, preventing uplift and lateral shift. This engineered redundancy—combined with proper fastening into a solid deck—explains why the Guardian Warranty covers the panels under wind events and why homeowners in high-wind areas trust the system to stay put.
What's the hail rating on Interlock metal roofing, and can it lower my insurance?
Interlock roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This non-combustible aluminum construction often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because the risk of weather damage and claims is dramatically lower than with asphalt shingles. While Minnesota averages about 3,090 sunshine hours yearly, severe hail events do occur, and a Class 4-rated roof signals to insurers that your home is protected. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 certification to explore available premium reductions.
Do I need to reinforce my home's structure for a metal roof?
No reinforcement is needed. The Mediterranean Tile profile weighs approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs over most existing roofs without structural modifications. Even the heavier Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft is trivial compared to traditional roofing materials. This lightweight advantage means you avoid costly beam or truss upgrades and can often re-roof directly over your existing asphalt without tearoff labor and landfill disposal, saving thousands in removal costs while maintaining structural integrity.
Is metal roofing worth the higher upfront cost compared to asphalt?
A metal roof is the last roof you buy. Asphalt shingles typically last 15–25 years and require tear-off, haul-away, and reinstallation every cycle—each time straining your budget and filling landfills with roughly 20 million tons of waste annually. Interlock's Guardian Warranty offers a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty to the original owner and a one-time transferable 50-year term to the next owner, meaning you install it once and the cost per year drops to a fraction of serial asphalt replacements. Over 50 years in Trempeleau's 101 cm-snow, 839 mm-rain climate, the total cost of ownership—including avoided replacements, no maintenance, and retained resale value—favors metal roofing decisively.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need in Minnesota?
Virtually none. Unlike asphalt shingles that curl and crack, wood shakes that split and rot in freeze-thaw cycles, or tile that requires periodic mortar repair, Interlock aluminum roofing is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 alloy cannot rust or rot, the 30-year-warranted Alunar coating resists fading and chalk despite Trempeleau's 101 freeze-thaw days annually, and the interlocking panels shed debris and moisture efficiently. Occasional visual inspection is all homeowners typically perform. This maintenance-free profile also protects your roof's resale appeal because future buyers inherit a system that won't demand costly repairs.
Can metal roofing be installed over my existing asphalt roof?
Yes, in most cases. Interlock's lightweight design—the Slate at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—allows installation directly over existing asphalt without tearoff, saving weeks of labor and disposal costs. The installer verifies deck condition, adds underlayment and flashing per ICC-ES ESR-1790 specifications (reissued 2025 for IBC/IRC compliance), and fastens the four-way interlocking panels to the solid deck beneath. This overlay approach is especially attractive in Minnesota's climate because the existing roof provides a thermal break and the new metal panels gain a secondary moisture barrier, improving overall system durability through Trempeleau's approximately 839 mm of annual rainfall and 101 cm of snow.
Does a reflective metal roof really save on cooling costs in Minnesota?
Yes, though the benefit is seasonal. Interlock's energy-efficient colors (with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55) reflect heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your attic. Given Trempeleau's approximately 3,090 annual sunshine hours and warm summer months, this reflectance reduces cooling demand during peak seasons. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification backs the performance. While Minnesota winters are long, summer heat reflection lowers utility costs, and the light color options do not sacrifice winter solar gain because the roof's thermal mass is minimal—making reflective coatings a net energy win year-round without compromise.
