Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Blodgett, Oregon
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
I wish I was rich enough to do an Interlock roof.
I love my Interlock roof! No more climbing up to clean it, and no more gritty debris falling into my garden after a few years. It looks fantastic and performs exactly as it should. The installers were excellent—knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and personable. Ivan is a gem! He handled a small flashing addition efficiently and cleaned the entire roof with a blower in no time. After almost ten years, it’s still the only roof I would choose.
Our 18 year house needed something. A local roofer suggested a$ 5 K, roof treatment with yearly treatment of $1000. And a roof replacement with shingles at 60K. We looked into Interlock. I was impressed with the product and the absence of middlemen between installation. And quality if the product. The investment was significantly higher but we were impressed and felt it would be the best choice. The crew was polite and professional. They cleaned up every day as promised As you can see from the picture the roof is beautiful Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value Service: Roof installation
I love my Interlock Metal Roof! It makes my whole house look more beautiful. I was so impressed by how quickly and efficiently the roof was installed. It will be a while before I retire, but when I do I want to spend my time and money on travel and other fun things. I am so glad I never have to worry about re-roofing then or ever again! Not only that, but my roof will be just as beautiful then as it is now. If you are thinking about re-roofing, give Interlock a look.
As a retired civil engineer I bought the roof for seismic purposes. The existing asphalt roof weighed over nine thousand pounds (8 1/2 tons). This one weighs about 800. That's like taking two full sized pickup trucks off the top of your house. The interesting part has been temperature. The aluminum dropped the summer temperatures in the house dramatically. The attic cools very quickly after the sun drops. Yes, even in black. Aluminum, regardless of he color does not store heat. This is not only a beautiful roof but it was very nicely installed by two guys that really cared about what they were doing.
Talk to us about safety measures for us and our pet beforehand, remove all waste afterwards.
Communication. Each time a tentative date was scheduled we would hear nothing more until we reached out to ask about it.
My wife thought they treated her as though she wasn't a decision maker and she didn't like that.
Our issues were more situational. A dumpster was not able to be dropped at our house due to the location so cleanup was a concern and there was a lot of debris around the yard but that could not be helped. I am very satisfied and would definitely recommend them.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Blodgett
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Blodgett, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Blodgett.
Does metal roofing handle Blodgett's snow and ice buildup?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels stay secure under Benton County's average 46 cm of snow annually, and the smooth aluminum surface actually sheds snow and ice faster than asphalt. The panels are tested to Class 4 impact (UL 2218), so they handle freeze-thaw stress from your typical 31 freeze-thaw cycles per year without cracking or curling. Snow guards can be added if you want to manage roof slide on steep pitches.
Why does an aluminum metal roof not rust like a steel one?
Aluminum roofing cannot rust because aluminum has no iron content — the material that causes steel to corrode. When aluminum's surface is scratched, a new oxide layer forms automatically, healing itself. This self-healing property makes aluminum ideal for the wet Willamette Valley climate, where you see about 1517 mm of annual rainfall. Steel roofing requires constant coatings to prevent rust; Interlock's aluminum needs none.
How does a metal roof perform in heavy rain like Blodgett gets?
Heavy rain drains immediately off metal; the interlocking four-way panel design creates a sealed system that channels water down and off without pooling. With about 1517 mm of rain annually in Benton County, a properly installed metal roof over a solid deck and underlayment outperforms asphalt, which can absorb water over time. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms code compliance for all rainfall conditions in the Pacific Northwest.
Can metal roofing withstand Blodgett's wind gusts?
Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Blodgett's typical gusts reach about 115 km/h (71 mph), so you have a significant safety margin. The four-way interlocking design distributes wind load across panels rather than concentrating stress on fasteners. This engineering is why the system performs from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations.
Is aluminum roofing light enough to install over my existing roof?
Yes — metal roofing weighs a fraction of what slate, clay, or concrete tile weighs. The Mediterranean Tile profile installs at roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than clay tile. This extraordinary lightness means no structural reinforcement, no expensive rafter upgrades, and installation directly over most existing roofs. For Blodgett homeowners, that translates to lower labor costs and minimal disruption.
Will a metal roof lower cooling costs in summer?
Metal roofing reduces heat absorption through reflectance. Interlock's energy-efficient colors reach initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it like asphalt. With about 3029 sunshine hours per year in Benton County, that reflection compounds daily. Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms measurable cooling savings over dark asphalt.
What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner — covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no annual deductible. It's one-time transferable, granting the next owner 50 years from installation. Combined with aluminum's self-healing oxide layer and a 30-year Alunar coating warranty against chalking and fading, this is effectively your last roof.
Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt?
Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable; at end of life, the entire roof returns to the recycling stream. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, end up in landfills — most roofs tear off every 15–20 years and stay there. Over a 50-year ownership window in Blodgett's wet climate, you avoid multiple tear-offs and haul-aways. Interlock's recyclability qualifies under CALGreen sustainability standards.
Does hail damage metal roofing, and can it lower insurance costs?
Interlock metal roofing carries UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the warranty covers perforation even from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While large hail is not typical in Benton County's climate pattern, the Class 4 rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because impact damage is extremely rare. Ask your insurer about discounts when you switch to Class 4-rated metal.
