The product is awesome. The installation crew was terrible. I don't know if they used contractors or if they actually work for Interlock. They were come and go and were not reliable. The installers were not reliable or here at the same time every day. It was awful.

Review: September 16, 2007Completion: July 24, 2007

The Interlock Roofing System installed on our home has changed the entire look of the building. It has made the house stand out from the other homes on the street. I am happy to say that the new roof has met or surpassed all that we had hoped for. Not only has it improved the look of the house, but, as you mentioned, it has lowered the temperature of the second floor during the " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot summer months. The snow catchers placed on the front porch look as decorative as well as functional. It is comforting to know as I approach retirement age, that I will never have the expense of replacing the roof again, nor will I have to worry about leaks in the future. I would also like to comment on the work team that did the installation. I have never had a contractor come in and work as hard as they did. They basically worked from dawn to dusk. I was amazed that they were able to complete the job in about two and a half days, especially considering that they had to redo all the sheathing on our roof. I thank you and your workers for a job well done.

Review: April 16, 2016

The price was too high ($12,000 too high), the sales pressure was too great (it felt like a used car lot), and the square footage was inaccurate, which might be the reason the price was too high.

Nazar was the Interlock person in charge of the job.He proved himself a knowledgeable, courteous professional. On day, when I was disconcerted because the crew didn't show up, as expected, he was as surprised as I . He gave me his phone number and suggested I phone him should additional problems arise. Nevertheless, that he did not know that the crew failed to report for work, which suggests a lack of communication between the job manager and the crew.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Globe Park

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Globe Park, Rhode Island. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Globe Park.

Will a metal roof handle Rhode Island's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes — aluminum expands and contracts with temperature swings, but it won't crack, split, or curl the way asphalt and wood do. Globe Park experiences about 83 freeze-thaw days per year, cycling repeatedly between freezing nights and thawing days. Aluminum's oxide layer doesn't degrade under this stress; it self-heals when scratched. The four-way interlocking design lets panels move independently without creating leak paths, so the material actually performs better through repeated freezing than traditional roofing.

How does an aluminum metal roof handle heavy snow?

The panels shed snow efficiently because their smooth surface and seam design don't trap moisture like asphalt does. With about 76 cm of snow annually and frequent thaw cycles, ice dam formation is your real concern—metal doesn't conduct heat the way steel does, keeping the roof cold and preventing ice dams. If you want added protection, snow guards install directly into the interlocking system. The lightweight aluminum (Shake profile at ~0.58 lb/sq ft) means your structure carries no additional load even with accumulated snow, unlike slate or tile.

Can an aluminum roof withstand Rhode Island nor'easters?

The warranty covers wind speeds up to 120 mph—well above the typical gust speeds of about 118 km/h (73 mph) recorded in Globe Park. The four-way interlocking system means each panel is mechanically locked to its neighbors; wind pressure pushes panels tighter together rather than prying them apart. This design is backed by ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790, which confirms compliance with IBC/IRC wind load requirements. Homeowners in exposed coastal areas trust this system; the interlocking geometry itself provides redundancy that fastener-only systems cannot match.

Will my insurance rates drop with a UL Class 4 metal roof?

Many insurers offer discounts for UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated roofing—the highest classification available. Interlock's aluminum panels meet this standard and carry a warranty covering perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Contact your agent with the product specs; some carriers reduce premiums by 10-20% for Class 4 roofs. In Rhode Island's climate, hail isn't the primary concern like it is inland, but the impact resistance is a documented safety feature that underwriters recognize and sometimes reward with lower rates.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing?

Aluminum contains no iron—iron is what rusts. The 3105-H24 aluminum alloy used in Interlock panels (ASTM B209) forms an invisible oxide layer that seals the surface. When scratched or dented, this layer self-heals automatically over time, re-sealing the metal underneath. Steel roofs require constant vigilance to prevent rust spotting; aluminum eliminates that problem entirely. In Globe Park's salt-air proximity and wet climate with ~1,200 mm annual rain, the Alunar fluorocarbon finish (applied both sides, 30-year warranty) adds an extra barrier, but the aluminum substrate itself is immune to rust.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Essentially none compared to asphalt or wood. Asphalt shingles degrade year-round; cedar and shake require annual inspection and costly repairs for rot and insect damage. Aluminum won't rot, split, or curl. Rinse the roof once every two years if salt spray or pollen buildup occurs—standard maintenance even for a stone façade. The Alunar coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance demand. With 3,050 sunshine hours annually in Globe Park, UV exposure is moderate, so the 30-year chalking and fading warranty on the finish gives you decades of appearance with minimal intervention.

Do I need to reinforce my roof frame for a metal roof?

No. The Shake profile installs at ~0.58 lb/sq ft and the Mediterranean Tile profile at ~0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than actual slate or clay tile. Most homes can support these panels over the existing roof structure without reinforcement. Contrast that with concrete tile (5-8 lbs/sq ft) or slate (10-15 lbs/sq ft), which often force expensive framing upgrades. In Globe Park, where roofs already carry 76 cm of snow annually, the lightweight aluminum actually reduces total seasonal load on the structure while delivering the visual appeal of premium materials.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over asphalt?

Interlock metal roofing is the last roof you'll buy. Asphalt needs replacement every 15-20 years; you'll cycle through three roofs while this one remains intact with a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, plus transferability for the next owner (50 years from completion). Factor in tear-off labor, landfill disposal, and the disruption of repeated replacements, and the aluminum roof's higher initial cost vanishes over your lifetime. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Run the 30-year math with a contractor—most homeowners find metal cheaper overall.

Is aluminum roofing actually better for the environment?

Yes—approximately 95% of aluminum is recyclable, and Interlock panels end the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle. Every 15-20 years, an asphalt roof becomes waste; multiply that by generations of homeowners, and asphalt roofing is a landfill driver. Aluminum, by contrast, holds value at end-of-life—scrap metal dealers will buy old panels. With Globe Park's 1,200 mm of annual rainfall and 83 freeze-thaw days creating wear stress on asphalt, you'll avoid multiple disposal events by choosing a roof that lasts a lifetime. The material was engineered in 1998 and continues in use at an Antarctic research station—proof of durability that eliminates waste.

Can a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 reflect heat that asphalt absorbs, keeping your attic cooler in summer. With about 3,050 sunshine hours annually in Globe Park, this reflective benefit accumulates across warm months. The Cool Roof Rating Council certifies these colors, meaning you're not relying on marketing claims—third-party testing proves the cooling effect. In New England climates, the savings are modest compared to southern states, but paired with proper attic ventilation, a reflective metal roof measurably lowers air-conditioning runtime during peak heat days.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Globe Park’s climate?

Yes. Globe Park averages about 76 cm of snow, 1198 mm of rain, roughly 83 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 118 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
