Review: April 16, 2016

The price was too high ($12,000 too high), the sales pressure was too great (it felt like a used car lot), and the square footage was inaccurate, which might be the reason the price was too high.

The product is awesome. The installation crew was terrible. I don't know if they used contractors or if they actually work for Interlock. They were come and go and were not reliable. The installers were not reliable or here at the same time every day. It was awful.

Review: September 16, 2007Completion: July 24, 2007

The Interlock Roofing System installed on our home has changed the entire look of the building. It has made the house stand out from the other homes on the street. I am happy to say that the new roof has met or surpassed all that we had hoped for. Not only has it improved the look of the house, but, as you mentioned, it has lowered the temperature of the second floor during the " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot summer months. The snow catchers placed on the front porch look as decorative as well as functional. It is comforting to know as I approach retirement age, that I will never have the expense of replacing the roof again, nor will I have to worry about leaks in the future. I would also like to comment on the work team that did the installation. I have never had a contractor come in and work as hard as they did. They basically worked from dawn to dusk. I was amazed that they were able to complete the job in about two and a half days, especially considering that they had to redo all the sheathing on our roof. I thank you and your workers for a job well done.

Critical: Professionalism, Responsiveness My husband and I purchased a home with an existing Interlock roof from his parents this past year. The roof has been fine, we have no issues. However, we are looking to add an addition to our home and because interlock requires their staff to perform all work on the roof because of the " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty we contacted them regarding this. My husband has attempted to reach Interlock for the past 1-2 months with out any call back from anyone. He just keeps getting the front desk secretary that answers the phone and takes the message. He has even requested to speak with the supervisor of the Sharon branch, but again with no call back. I have never experienced such a terrible customer service experience from a company. I do not recommend pursuing a metal roof with Interlock for the fear that if you had a problem with your roof, you may not get in touch with anyone to repair it. If you do proceed with Interlock, prepare yourself to have to call them multiple times per day every day. Update: I received a call back from Interlock today after receiving my google review. Thankfully, they have begun to work on my outstanding issue. Service: Roof installation

Jonathan was an amazing salesman. He was patient. What I wanted wasn't offered at the time, but he said he could probably find it, so he went above and beyond at his salesman task. If I could have chosen a company, I would have chosen Interlock.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Forestdale

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Forestdale, Rhode Island. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Forestdale.

Will metal roofing hold up to Rhode Island's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes. Aluminum has no iron content, so it cannot rust even as water cycles in and out during Forestdale's roughly 83 freeze-thaw days per year. The material's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, meaning repeated temperature swings that crack asphalt or degrade wood do not compromise aluminum panels. The four-way interlocking design sheds water before it can pool and refreeze. Over decades of winters averaging 76 cm of snow, this durability compounds—your roof simply does not degrade from thermal cycling the way traditional materials do.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow in Forestdale?

Metal roofing sheds snow efficiently because water runs off the interlocking seams rather than pooling. Forestdale receives about 76 cm of snow annually, and the smooth aluminum surface prevents ice dams that trap meltwater under shingles. Snow guards are available if you want to control the slide for safety. The panels weigh only 0.41 lb/sq ft (Shingle profile), so no structural reinforcement is needed—your home handles the load easily. This contrasts sharply with traditional slate or tile, which require expensive framing upgrades before installation.

Does a metal roof leak in heavy rain?

No. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to resist water penetration; rainwater flows downslope through the seams. Forestdale averages about 1198 mm of rain per year, and the Guardian Warranty explicitly covers leak protection. Installation over a solid deck with underlayment—the standard approach—delivers the same leak protection as asphalt, not the gaps or vulnerabilities of older metal roofing. The panels have been installed successfully on everything from coastal homes exposed to salt-air spray to an Antarctic research station, so heavy rainfall here is routine.

Can this roof withstand Forestdale's wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock Metal Roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Forestdale's typical gusts reach about 118 km/h (73 mph), well within the design limit, and the four-way interlocking panels lock together so tightly that uplift stress is distributed across the entire roof assembly rather than concentrated on fasteners. Even severe autumn nor'easters with sustained winds and gusts approaching the regional average maximum do not stress this system. The warranty covers wind damage, giving you direct recourse if an extreme event occurs.

What is the hail rating, and can it lower my insurance?

Interlock Metal Roofing holds a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurance carriers recognize this non-destructible durability and offer premium discounts or credits for Class 4 metal roofs. After installation, contact your insurer with the UL listing (33876) and ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790); they will confirm eligibility. Over the life of your roof, these credits can offset a meaningful portion of the material cost.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?

No. The Interlock Tile profile weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so most homes in Forestdale can accommodate a metal roof without any structural work. Even the heavier Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft is negligible compared to conventional roofing loads. This lightness also means installation can often proceed directly over your existing asphalt shingles, eliminating tear-off labor and landfill costs. Aluminum's strength-to-weight ratio delivers protection without the burden that forces expensive framing upgrades with traditional tile or slate.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?

Yes, when you calculate the full lifecycle. Asphalt shingles need replacement every 15–20 years; in Forestdale's 83 annual freeze-thaw days and 1198 mm rainfall, degradation accelerates. Metal roofing, warranted for the life of the original owner with a 50-year transferable term for the next owner, eliminates the tear-off-and-replace cycle. The Guardian Warranty covers rusting, cracking, curling, and impact loss—no prorated deductions. Current financing offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Over 40–50 years, metal costs less per year than repeated asphalt cycles.

Will a metal roof help lower cooling costs?

energy-efficient colors reduce cooling load by reflecting, rather than absorbing, solar heat. Interlock's coated panels achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning less heat transfers into your attic on Forestdale's roughly 3050 annual sunshine hours. The Cool Roof Rating Council confirms the thermal benefit. While Forestdale winters are cold and long, the reflective coating does not diminish winter insulation—your main savings come from reduced air-conditioning demand on warmer days and lower peak loads. Over a 30–40 year roof life, this compounds into significant utility savings.

Who installs and services Interlock roofing in Forestdale?

Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served this region since 1999—longer than most local contractors have been in business. They manage everything from design consultation through warranty support, and they understand Forestdale's specific weather patterns: the snow load, freeze-thaw cycling, and coastal influences. The company manufactures panels in Delta, BC, and ships them regionally, so lead times are predictable. When you choose a local, long-tenured installer, you gain continuity and accountability that national franchises cannot match. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation.

How much maintenance does a metal roof require?

Virtually none. Unlike asphalt shingles—which curl, crack, and shed granules—or wood shakes that split and rot, aluminum panels do not degrade from weathering. CALGreen verification confirms the roof's reduced maintenance profile. After 40 years of Forestdale winters (1198 mm rain, 76 cm snow, 83 freeze-thaw cycles annually), you may rinse debris from the valleys; that is the extent of routine care. No sealing, no patching, no granule replacement. The Alunar coating remains bonded and color-stable for 30 years, backed by ASTM D4214/D2244 testing. This freedom from upkeep is one reason homeowners find metal roofing such a relief after decades of asphalt maintenance.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Forestdale’s climate?

Yes. Forestdale averages about 76 cm of snow, 1198 mm of rain, roughly 83 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 118 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
