Critical: Professionalism, Responsiveness My husband and I purchased a home with an existing Interlock roof from his parents this past year. The roof has been fine, we have no issues. However, we are looking to add an addition to our home and because interlock requires their staff to perform all work on the roof because of the " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty we contacted them regarding this. My husband has attempted to reach Interlock for the past 1-2 months with out any call back from anyone. He just keeps getting the front desk secretary that answers the phone and takes the message. He has even requested to speak with the supervisor of the Sharon branch, but again with no call back. I have never experienced such a terrible customer service experience from a company. I do not recommend pursuing a metal roof with Interlock for the fear that if you had a problem with your roof, you may not get in touch with anyone to repair it. If you do proceed with Interlock, prepare yourself to have to call them multiple times per day every day. Update: I received a call back from Interlock today after receiving my google review. Thankfully, they have begun to work on my outstanding issue. Service: Roof installation

I first found out about Interlock metal roofs when I visited one of our customer's homes and noticed the gorgeous roof...I asked her who installed it for her and she told me it was a metal roof by Interlock. The roof on my house was in very bad shape and I was shopping for a new roof and I put Interlock at the top of my list. Upon doing some research, I realized that an Interlock roof was going to cost me quite a bit more than a conventional shingled roof and I was bummed that it may be out of my budget, so I got several quotes on conventional shingles before I finally decided to contact Interlock and get an accurate quote. From the first contact with the Interlock sales rep, Jeff Smith, I could tell that Interlock was a company that operated at a far higher level than any other home improvement companies I have come in contact with...Jeff was extremely knowledgeable, personable, and prepared! He conducted himself in a professional manner and took the time to ask lots of questions about my goals for the house and roof, he took accurate measurements so he could provide me with an accurate quote and while he was preparing his quote (on the spot), he had me watch an informational video on his iPad that outlined all of the benefits of an Interlock roof (Lifetime Warranty, hail resistant, wind resistant, Energy efficient, snow slides off, etc., etc.). By the end of the video, I was 100% convinced that the product is amazing and I knew it was the roof I wanted...but, I was still nervous that it would be waaayyy out of my budget. I told Jeff of my concerns and he presented me with the quote....which, as I suspected, was almost 2.5 times more than a conventional shingle roof. Once I got over my initial sticker shock, I thought about all the value that I would be getting...Lifetime Warranty, hail resistant, wind resistant, Energy efficient, snow slides off, etc., etc. and the decision became much easier...then, to make it even easier, Interlock offered me great financing which fit my budget perfectly! How could I say no? The roof was installed about 2 months ago and it looks AWESOME!! I am very happy with the decision to spend the extra money for a high quality product and I've already recommended Interlock to multiple people...including my brother who is an architect for high-end homes and he was so impressed with the quality that he's been recommending Interlock roofs to his clients!

Review: September 16, 2007 Completion: July 24, 2007

The Interlock Roofing System installed on our home has changed the entire look of the building. It has made the house stand out from the other homes on the street. I am happy to say that the new roof has met or surpassed all that we had hoped for. Not only has it improved the look of the house, but, as you mentioned, it has lowered the temperature of the second floor during the " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot summer months. The snow catchers placed on the front porch look as decorative as well as functional. It is comforting to know as I approach retirement age, that I will never have the expense of replacing the roof again, nor will I have to worry about leaks in the future. I would also like to comment on the work team that did the installation. I have never had a contractor come in and work as hard as they did. They basically worked from dawn to dusk. I was amazed that they were able to complete the job in about two and a half days, especially considering that they had to redo all the sheathing on our roof. I thank you and your workers for a job well done.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Nasonville

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Nasonville, Rhode Island. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Nasonville.

Will a metal roof hold up to Rhode Island's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions. Nasonville averages about 83 freeze-thaw days per year, which breaks down asphalt and causes wood to split and crack. Aluminum has no moisture absorption, so it won't expand, contract, or degrade as temperatures swing. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating is applied to both sides of every panel (even the underside gets protection), which means freeze-thaw cycling accelerates nothing—the self-healing oxide layer keeps the metal intact regardless of seasonal stress.

How does a metal roof handle Nasonville's snow and ice buildup?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice far more efficiently than asphalt. With about 76 cm of snow annually and frequent freeze-thaw events, your roof needs a surface that won't trap moisture or create ice dams. Interlock's smooth, hard-finished panels allow snow to slide cleanly, especially the Standing Seam profile. Snow guards are available if you want to control shedding onto pathways. The four-way interlocking design prevents water infiltration even if ice builds at the edges—a major advantage over asphalt, which hardens and cracks in these conditions.

Can Nasonville's coastal wind gusts damage a metal roof?

No. Nasonville experiences typical gusts around 118 km/h, well within Interlock's warranty coverage. Every panel is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to spec. The four-way interlocking design means each panel locks mechanically to its neighbors—wind cannot peel up a single section without breaking the whole assembly. That's why these roofs perform in coastal salt-air zones and have been installed on research stations in Antarctica, where wind loads are extreme.

Does a metal roof reduce hail damage and insurance costs?

Yes on both counts. Interlock holds the highest hail rating available: UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Because aluminum is non-combustible and resists impact far better than asphalt (which cracks and loses granules), many insurers offer premium discounts for metal roofs. In Rhode Island's climate, hail events are less frequent than in plains states, but when they occur, a Class 4-rated roof is the only one that guarantees coverage. Ask your insurer about discounts when you switch.

Is my house strong enough to support a metal roof?

Almost certainly yes—and that's one of aluminum's greatest advantages. The Interlock Shake profile weighs only about 0.58 lb/sq ft, and the Mediterranean Tile profile is roughly 96% lighter than real concrete or clay tile. This extraordinary lightness means no structural reinforcement is needed, and installation can happen directly over most existing roofs. Contrast that with slate or tile, which require foundation work and additional framing. Your home's existing structure is likely already over-engineered for aluminum.

Why won't an aluminum roof rust like steel roofing does?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. The metal forms a thin, invisible oxide layer when exposed to air—and this layer self-heals when scratched or damaged. Steel, by contrast, rusts through that layer because iron oxidizes into a powder that flakes away. In Nasonville's humid, rainy climate (about 1200 mm annually), rust protection matters enormously. The Alunar coating is applied to both sides of every panel as extra insurance, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. You get the lightweight advantage of aluminum plus corrosion immunity.

Will a metal roof keep my home cooler in summer?

Yes, especially if you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock's reflective coatings have initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they bounce away heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your home. With Nasonville averaging about 3050 hours of sunshine annually, that reflection matters. The Cool Roof Rating Council verification confirms real energy savings. Metal roofs stay cooler than asphalt, reducing cooling loads and lowering summer utility bills. In spring or fall, that reflectivity means you're not paying to cool a roof that acts like a griddle.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over asphalt shingles?

Think in decades, not years. Asphalt shingles last 15–25 years and end up in a landfill; Interlock's lifetime limited warranty covers the original owner indefinitely. The transferable component gives the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion—that's one roof for two homeowners. Over a 50-year window, metal costs less per year than replacing asphalt twice or three times, plus you avoid disposal and reinstallation labor. With current regional promotions offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, the financial barrier is lower than ever.

Who installs Interlock metal roofs in Nasonville?

Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. serves Newport County and Nasonville with deep expertise—the installer has served the region since 1999. That's over 25 years of experience installing aluminum roofs in Rhode Island's demanding climate: salt air, freeze-thaw cycles, coastal wind, and heavy rain. A local installer knows your specific roof pitch, snow-load patterns, and weather behavior. They stock profiles locally, manage permits, and stand behind the work. Current financing options—no payments or interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—apply directly through this certified installer.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Significantly less than asphalt, wood, or clay tile. Aluminum doesn't require sealing, restaining, or crack repair—common costs for traditional roofs. It won't split like wood shake (which also harbors mold in wet climates like Nasonville's 1200 mm rainfall annually) or crumble like clay tile. Twice-yearly gutter cleaning and the occasional debris removal are your main tasks. The Alunar coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Because freeze-thaw days (about 83 annually) don't harm aluminum the way they degrade asphalt and organic materials, your roof's appearance and function stay consistent for decades with minimal intervention.
