Dear Interlock Roofing, Thank you for coming by and installing a new roof on our house. After we first talked at the Tacoma Home Show in January, both Paul and Ross were fantastic in walking us through the process and explaining the roofing system when we met in February. They answered all our questions, and we were eager to get started. Patrick and Drew took the lead with the installation planning and paperwork, and once the materials were ready in May, Patrick dropped them off at our house. The three-man crew installed everything in three days and ensured any installation questions were answered and done properly. In the end, we love the look and expected longevity of our new roof.

The cost of the roofing was too high. It looks very nice and glad I had it installed. I have one leak, but I haven't called them about it yet.

Review: December 5, 2021 Completion: September 11, 2021

The sale experience was good, but the rest was far below expectations, especially for the price paid. We did not buy Interlock just for an attractive roof, we bought it because they are supposed to be experts, have a high level of customer services, and we thought would do things right without headaches. This is far from the case. Hire an company who's actual employees and managers will be on site, not Interlock. Turns out we were actually blindly hiring a crew, who sub-contracts for Interlock, and has a questionable level of experience. Interlock doesn't even show up at your job site at any time during the job, even if you have problems and repeatedly ask them to. Once they have your money at the end of the job, they don't care if you still have issues or even bother to respond to you when you have additional issue. They need an interlock staff member who is an installation expert to be on the job site ideally for the whole job, but at the least, at the start at the middle and at the end who can insure everything is done to high standards and that all of the customers issues are addressed promptly. Paying by the job is also super problematic, this only encourages the crews to work as fast as they possibly can, covering up or ignoring things that might take a bit longer. They have no incentive to fix or give the customer time to fix an issue. The one installation manager you have for a huge region is not even close to adequate, it's no surprise he could not give us an adequate level of communication or attention. Disappointing.

Review: May 24, 2021 Completion: April 21, 2021

They fell short with the roofing underlayment material. The type of boards they actually used. Maybe since they used one over another, they probably need to be more clear and advise the customer who chooses. It is something we noticed. Contact from the company for rescheduling could've been better. I understand delays are unforeseen, but keeping better communication with consumers so they aren't taking time off and then finding it wasn't necessary to do so due to a delay. They were quick to request a referral, which I gave them a good one online, but they were slow when it came time to take care of the damage done. They probably should've waited to ask for the referral until after they had repaired the damage. Now, we feel hurried for a great referral, but they are taking their time to come back for the damage. I look forward to recommending them. This project was referred to us by friends in the midwest. I hope the company follows through on the $500 referral.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Boston Harbor

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Boston Harbor, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Boston Harbor.

Why doesn't aluminum metal roofing rust in Boston Harbor's rainy climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects against corrosion even when scratched. Boston Harbor receives about 1370 mm of rain annually, and that constant moisture would devastate steel; aluminum's molecular structure simply doesn't corrode. This matters especially in regions with freeze-thaw cycles — Boston Harbor averages 34 such days per year — where moisture trapped under traditional coatings causes steel to fail. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy, plus the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides, add 30 years of fade and chalk protection (ASTM D4214/D2244), giving you a roof that outlasts the rain.

How does a metal roof handle Boston Harbor's winter snow and ice buildup?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels lock snow in place and shed meltwater cleanly, preventing the ice-dam problems common under asphalt. Boston Harbor averages about 40 cm of snow and 34 freeze-thaw days annually — conditions that crack and curl asphalt shingles as they expand and contract. The smooth, non-porous aluminum surface prevents water from soaking in at seams, so melt runs off rather than refreezing behind gutters. Optional snow guards can be added if you prefer to manage snow in phases. The panels' featherlight weight — Shake profile at roughly 0.58 lb/sq ft — means no structural reinforcement is needed, even when the occasional heavy wet snow load sits on the roof briefly.

Will a metal roof stay on during Boston Harbor's winter wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, and Boston Harbor's typical gusts reach only about 99 km/h (roughly 62 mph). The four-way interlocking design locks each panel to its neighbors, distributing wind load across the whole system rather than letting individual panels lift. This mechanical interlock is rated UL 2218 Class 4 for impact (the same severe-hail standard) and approved under ICC-ES ESR-1790 for IBC/IRC compliance. In a region where winter gusts can exceed average wind speeds, that 120 mph warranty gives you real margin. Installation over solid decking and spec-compliant fastening complete the system — your roof stays put while asphalt shingles curl and fail around the neighborhood.

Does heavy rain leak through metal roofing seams?

No. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels create a mechanical seal — water cannot pass the joint because each panel overlaps the next. Boston Harbor's 1370 mm of annual rainfall demands true water management, not just coating or sealant. The interlock design sheds water downslope through gravity and geometry, the same principle that keeps water out of vinyl siding or lap joints on boat hulls. When installed over a solid deck with underlayment, the roof becomes a two-stage barrier: the aluminum panels shed standing water, and the underlayment catches any wind-driven moisture that might slip under (rare when panels are properly fastened). This redundancy is why metal roofing is trusted from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctica — not because the material itself absorbs water, but because the system design doesn't let water accumulate.

Can my house's framing handle a metal roof, or do I need structural work?

Most homes need no structural reinforcement because Interlock metal roofing weighs far less than the materials it replaces. The Slate profile installs at about 0.41 lb/sq ft, the Mediterranean Tile at roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft — approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Your existing roof's framing was built to carry asphalt shingles (13-17 lb/sq ft), so aluminum is a major weight reduction. This matters in Boston Harbor's climate, where 40 cm of seasonal snow can add temporary load; the lighter the permanent roof, the more capacity remains for snow. Interlock installs over most existing roofs without tearing off, further reducing structural stress. An ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms the system's compliance with building codes. Your builder can verify in minutes whether reinforcement is needed — in most cases, it isn't.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?

Over a 50-year span, Interlock metal roofing costs less than multiple asphalt re-roofs and adds real home value. Asphalt lasts 15-20 years; you'll replace it 2-3 times while one Interlock roof handles five decades with zero tear-off landfill waste. Boston Harbor's 1370 mm rainfall and 34 freeze-thaw cycles per year accelerate asphalt failure — shingles curl, split, and lose impact resistance faster here than in drier regions. Interlock's Guardian Warranty covers splitting, cracking, and curling for life (the original owner), then transfers 50 years to the next buyer — a safety net asphalt cannot match. Current regional promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. The math favors metal: fewer emergency repairs, no mold under failed shingles, and a roof you can trust through your ownership and beyond.

What exactly does Interlock's warranty cover, and how long does it last?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner — it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. That means if your roof fails from those causes, Interlock replaces the material at no cost, for as long as you own the home. It transfers once to the next owner, who gets 50 years of coverage from installation completion. No other residential roofing material matches this term. In Boston Harbor, where 34 freeze-thaw cycles per year stress traditional roofing, that lifetime protection against cracking and curling is concrete insurance. The aluminum alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24) plus 30-year Alunar coating warranty (ASTM D4214/D2244) mean your roof resists fading and chalk long after asphalt has grayed and failed.

Can a metal roof help lower cooling costs in summer?

Yes. Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat that asphalt absorbs and converts to attic temperature. Thermal emissivity reaches 0.84, and initial solar reflectance can reach 0.55 on colors like Aged Copper Penny — meaning more of the sun's energy bounces back rather than heating your home. Boston Harbor averages about 2881 sunshine hours per year and a mean temperature of 10.8°C, so summer cooling is less critical than in hotter zones. But the reflectance still reduces your air conditioning load and keeps attic spaces cooler, lowering moisture buildup that leads to rot in this region's rainy climate. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms the thermal performance. Metal roofing also eliminates the dark, heat-trapping effect of asphalt, protecting your home's integrity through cooler attics and less thermal cycling stress on the structure.

Is metal roofing fire-safe, and does it matter in Boston Harbor?

Metal roofing is non-combustible — aluminum cannot catch fire. Interlock offers Class A fire classification (the highest rating), available across all profiles. This matters because wildfire risk is growing in Washington State, and some insurance policies now require Class A roofing or charge higher premiums. Even if wildfire isn't your immediate concern, Class A roofing can lower homeowner insurance rates and is now verified for CALGreen compliance in California and spreading as a best practice nationwide. Boston Harbor's climate — 1370 mm rain and 40 cm snow annually — keeps local fire season brief, but your home's safety and insurability benefit from non-combustible materials. Metal roofing passes ICC-ES ESR-1790 (IBC/IRC) building code evaluation, and the non-combustible aluminum core means your roof cannot contribute to fire spread, even under extreme conditions.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Virtually none. Aluminum doesn't rot, split, or curl — no annual shingle repairs or wood treatments required. Boston Harbor's 1370 mm of rain and 34 freeze-thaw cycles destroy asphalt shingles through constant expansion, contraction, and moisture infiltration; wood shakes require staining and fungicide applications every 3-5 years to fight moss and rot in the Pacific Northwest's damp climate. Interlock's aluminum alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24) sheds water and resists decay. Routine inspection (like any roof) catches debris in gutters, but there's no coating reapplication, no sealant touch-ups, and no emergency repairs from split shingles or curled edges. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance as a design feature. Over 50 years, you save thousands in labor and material — no contractors on ladders because your roof is failing. That's the real hidden cost of traditional roofing in wet climates.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Boston Harbor’s climate?

Yes. Boston Harbor averages about 40 cm of snow, 1370 mm of rain, roughly 34 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 99 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
