Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Kamilche, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Kamilche
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Kamilche, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Kamilche.
How does a metal roof handle heavy snow in Kamilche?
Metal roofs shed snow and ice efficiently because the smooth, hard surface prevents buildup that occurs on asphalt. Kamilche receives about 40 cm of snow annually across roughly 34 freeze-thaw cycles, which creates the exact conditions where ice dams destroy standard shingles—the freeze-thaw flexing cracks them. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels stay rigid through temperature swings, and snow slides safely off without pooling. You can add optional snow guards if you want controlled release. The lightweight design means no structural upgrade needed, even in a bad year.
Why won't my aluminum roof rust like steel roofs do?
Aluminum physically cannot rust because it contains no iron—iron is what oxidizes and turns to rust. Instead, aluminum forms a thin, invisible oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath and heals itself when scratched. On top of that, every Interlock panel gets Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. In Kamilche's damp marine climate with 1370 mm of annual rain, that dual protection is serious insurance. Steel roofs corrode from the inside out in this environment; aluminum just gets tougher with age.
Do I need to reinforce my house to support a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement required. Interlock's aluminum Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only about 0.59 lb per square foot—roughly 96% lighter than actual concrete or clay tile. For comparison, asphalt shingles run 2–3 lb/sq ft, so metal actually reduces load on your framing. This matters in Kamilche where older homes have standard rafters designed decades ago. You can install metal roofing directly over most existing roofs without tearing anything off, which saves thousands and keeps debris out of landfills. The light weight is a hidden engineering advantage most homeowners don't realize they're getting.
What does the warranty actually cover and for how long?
The Guardian is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. That means no gradual reduction of coverage as the roof ages. It's transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years of protection from the completion date. Most homeowners keep a house 20–30 years, so this warranty outlives your ownership by decades. Combined with Interlock's track record since 1998 and local installation by the PNW team since 1997, you're betting on aluminum that's proven itself from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations.
Will my metal roof hold up in Kamilche's wind and storm gusts?
Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to spec, and Kamilche's typical wind gusts max out around 99 km/h (about 62 mph)—well within that range. The four-way interlocking design means each panel locks to its neighbors on all sides, creating a unified system that flexes and holds rather than peeling up. Heavy annual rainfall of 1370 mm comes with Pacific storms, but the seams are designed to shed water, not trap it. Insurance companies often offer discounts for metal roofs because underwriters trust the engineering and wind-test data.
Is a metal roof fire-resistant in a wildfire zone?
Interlock aluminum is non-combustible—it won't ignite, burn, or emit smoke. Class A fire-rating versions are available and comply with ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025), which covers the latest building and fire codes. In Kamilche and the broader Pacific Northwest, wildfire risk is a real consideration even in residential areas. A non-combustible roof eliminates one major point of failure during an approaching fire; embers can land on metal without starting a fire. Check your homeowners insurance policy—some carriers reduce premiums for Class A ratings because the risk profile is genuinely different.
Can a metal roof actually save money on cooling costs?
Metal roofs with reflective coatings reduce the heat your roof absorbs, lowering cooling demand. Interlock's energy-efficient colors achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, reflecting heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your home. Kamilche gets about 2881 sunshine hours per year—enough to make reflectance meaningful. On summer days above 20°C, the difference compounds. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms independent testing. In the Pacific Northwest where cooling isn't year-round, the real benefit is consistency: no hot spots, no premature shingle degradation from UV, and lower peak loads on air conditioning.
What maintenance does a metal roof actually need?
Almost none. Unlike asphalt shingles, which require periodic inspection and seal-down, or wood shake, which needs treatment and moss removal in wet climates like Kamilche's (1370 mm rain annually), metal roofing is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Gutters still need cleaning and occasional debris removal, but the roof itself doesn't degrade, curl, or crack from Kamilche's 34 annual freeze-thaw cycles. No algae or moss takes hold because aluminum is inhospitable to growth. A rinse with a garden hose every few years keeps it looking new. That's it—the lifetime warranty isn't a gimmick because there's genuinely little that breaks.
How long does metal roof installation take and do I have to remove my old roof?
Installation typically takes a few days to a couple of weeks depending on roof complexity and weather (Kamilche averages 2881 sunshine hours annually, so scheduling around rain is practical planning). Most importantly, you don't have to tear off your existing shingles. Interlock installs directly over them with a solid deck and underlayment—the same approach that keeps a metal roof quiet in heavy downpours as 1370 mm of rain falls. Avoiding tear-off saves time, labor, dumpster costs, and landfill waste. Your local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., has been serving the region since 1997 and can walk you through timeline details and current financing: no payments or interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation.
Is aluminum roofing actually better for the environment than asphalt shingles?
Yes, significantly. Aluminum is about 95% recyclable, and Interlock panels never end up in a landfill—they retain value as scrap. Every time you replace asphalt shingles (typically every 15–20 years), tons of old shingles go to the dump; over a house's lifetime, that's multiple roofing landfills. A metal roof breaks the tear-off cycle entirely. Manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998, Interlock uses established recycling infrastructure. In Kamilche, where 1370 mm of annual rainfall and 34 freeze-thaw cycles hammer roofing materials, choosing aluminum instead of asphalt means fewer replacements, fewer trucks hauling debris, and a product that doesn't degrade into microplastics in groundwater.
