We were extremely pleased with Interlock Roofing as our selection to install an aluminum roof on our house and two outbuildings. Review: March 23, 2017Completion: June 22, 2016

In March of 2016, we contracted with Interlock Lifetime Roofing Systems to replace the cedar shingles on our roof. After a couple of dates were scheduled and changed, the job was finally completed on June 22, 2016. The work crew was very good – showed up as scheduled and the work was completed in 2 days. That is, old shingles removed and new Interlock system installed. We are very pleased with the finished look of our roof and have had no problems with it. Everyone in our neighborhood who have seen it also is impressed with the product. We would definitely refer anyone we know to your company if they are looking for a new roof.

Review: June 18, 2014Completion: May 23, 2014

Our house was built 26 years ago beautiful rambler but on the Golf course. The original roof was black cement tiles and 6 years later without any protection from the golf balls we had to change to wood shakes. That roof lasted 20 years with lots of problems like leaks and ants invasion. It did not matter if we had a protective net from the golf balls and it was time to do something. I found Interlock on the Internet and when I checked with our community covenants they did not have anything against metal roofing. I choose the Red slate and I am so very happy with my choice. Now I will never again have ants or leaks because I was watching how the crew sealed everything and the job was done very professionaly.Thank you Interlock for making my home look so beautiful they could have had the delivery of the tiles during the preparation and removal of the shakes; the Federal Express was one week late and the roof sat there all ready for the delivery. I don't know whose fault it was but then the crew worked diligently to finish the job. I am very happy with my new roof the first in the area where I live and everybody is taking about it.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Agate Beach

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Agate Beach, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Agate Beach.

Why won't an aluminum metal roof rust like steel roofing, especially near salt air?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes. Instead, aluminum develops a protective oxide layer that self-heals when scratched. In Agate Beach's maritime climate with frequent salt-laden winds gusting to 99 km/h, this is a decisive advantage. Steel roofing, by contrast, requires ongoing maintenance to prevent rust staining and structural failure. Our 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 roofing-grade aluminum alloy carries a 30-year warranty against corrosion and is backed by the Guardian Warranty for the original owner's lifetime.

How does a metal roof handle Agate Beach's average 40 cm of snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice effectively because their smooth, slippery surface prevents snow from bonding and building up into dangerous loads. Agate Beach experiences about 34 freeze-thaw days per year—cycles that crack and split asphalt shingles and wood shakes—but aluminum flexes without fracturing and its oxide layer resists the corrosive melt-water cycle. Our four-way interlocking panels interlock tightly to prevent water infiltration during these repeated freeze cycles, and snow guards are available if you want to control drift into specific areas rather than shed entirely.

Is a metal roof secure in Agate Beach's typical coastal gusts up to 99 km/h?

Yes. Our four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered and warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h)—well above Agate Beach's typical gust speeds. The interlocking design means each panel bridges to its neighbors on all four sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on fasteners alone. This redundancy is why we can warranty wind resistance at 120 mph to specification. In this region's persistent coastal winds, that over-engineering provides genuine security.

Can my house structure support a metal roof without reinforcement?

Almost certainly yes—and that's one of aluminum's defining advantages. Our Slate profile installs at 0.41 lb/sq ft, and even our heaviest Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means no structural reinforcement is required, and our panels install directly over most existing roofs, eliminating the cost and debris of tear-off. Your home already supports asphalt shingles; aluminum metal roofing weighs less, so structural concerns are rarely the limiting factor in Agate Beach.

With Agate Beach's 1370 mm of annual rain, how does a metal roof keep water out?

Four-way interlocking panels create a nearly impenetrable rain shield. Water cannot flow sideways into seams because each panel interlocks on all four edges; water simply sheds downslope. Our ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms the system's compliance with International Building Code and International Residential Code water-barrier requirements. In a region that receives rain equivalent to about 137 cm of water yearly, overlapped and interlocking geometry is far superior to the butt-joint seams of standing-seam panels or the penetrations required by nailed-down shingles. Proper installation to spec is the only variable; the design itself is inherently leak-resistant.

Does a metal roof really lower cooling costs in a temperate climate like Agate Beach?

Reflective aluminum roofing reduces cooling costs by bouncing sunlight away rather than absorbing it like asphalt. Our energy-efficient colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55, meaning they reflect the heat that dark asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your attic. Agate Beach receives about 2881 sunshine hours per year; over a roof's 50+ year lifespan, that reflectance compounds into measurable energy savings, especially during warmer months and on south-facing slopes. Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms the performance independent of marketing claims.

Is a metal roof safer in a wildfire zone or high-fire-risk area?

Yes. Aluminum is non-combustible; it does not burn and cannot carry a flame. Our metal roofing is available in Class A fire classification—the highest rating—because aluminum substrate itself is incombustible and our Alunar 70% PVDF coating adds no fuel load. While Agate Beach is not typically classified as high-wildfire-risk, the combination of persistent moisture (1370 mm rain, 34 freeze-thaw days) and occasional wind gusts to 99 km/h means structural integrity during extreme weather is paramount. A non-combustible roof eliminates one failure mode entirely and simplifies insurance discussions in any risk scenario.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?

Metal roofing requires minimal maintenance—no more than occasional gutter cleaning and inspection after severe weather. You will never re-seal it, re-coat it, or replace split or curled shingles. Asphalt shingles require re-sealing or replacement within 15–20 years; wood shakes split and rot within 20–25 years, especially in Agate Beach's 34 annual freeze-thaw cycles. Our aluminum's oxide layer requires no protective treatment; the 30-year Alunar coating warranty against chalking and fading means the roof's appearance and function are locked in. Over a 50-year ownership span, maintenance cost on asphalt or wood compounds significantly.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over the life of the roof?

Yes, when you factor in the full lifespan and avoid multiple replacements. Metal roofing costs more upfront than asphalt but lasts 50+ years with one-time transfer; asphalt typically requires replacement at 15–20 years. Over 50 years, asphalt costs you 2–3 complete roof replacements plus accumulated labor, disposal, and interior damage risk from age-related leaks. The Guardian Warranty is non-prorated for the original owner's lifetime and one-time transferable for 50 years from completion—so you will not pay warranty deductibles as the roof ages. Current financing offers (no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation) compress the payback timeline further.

Is aluminum metal roofing actually better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes. Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable and returns to productive use at end-of-life; asphalt shingles tear off every 15–20 years and end up in landfills. Agate Beach generates significant roofing waste given the region's moisture and weather cycles that degrade asphalt quickly. Metal roofing breaks the tear-off-to-landfill cycle: your roof stays in place for 50+ years, and when it eventually does reach end-of-life, the material is sold to aluminum recyclers rather than hauled away. CALGreen verification confirms our reduced-maintenance profile aligns with green building standards, meaning lower environmental impact over the roof's operational life, not just at disposal.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Agate Beach’s climate?

Yes. Agate Beach averages about 40 cm of snow, 1370 mm of rain, roughly 34 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 99 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
