Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Lyle, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Lyle
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Lyle, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Lyle.
Will a metal roof handle Lyle's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered for snow load and ice adhesion. Lyle receives about 193 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 55 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions that crack asphalt shingles and cause ice dams. Aluminum doesn't become brittle in freeze-thaw cycles; the panels expand and contract uniformly. Snow sheds cleanly from the smooth profile, and gutters drain meltwater efficiently. Optional snow guards are available if you prefer to retain snow for insulation value.
How does metal roofing perform in Lyle's rainy climate?
The interlocking seams shed water continuously. Lyle's annual rainfall averages about 1056 mm—comparable to Seattle—yet Interlock's four-way panel overlap and mechanical fastening design route every drop downslope. Installed over solid decking with underlayment, the roof performs identically to asphalt in heavy rain. The aluminum itself cannot rot or split, eliminating the wood-rot failures that develop under traditional shingles in this wet environment. Warranty coverage includes perforation and leak protection across the panel life.
Why is aluminum better than other metal roofs in freeze-thaw conditions?
Aluminum expands and contracts at a predictable, uniform rate—it doesn't develop stress fractures or brittle spots. With 55 freeze-thaw cycles yearly in Lyle, steel roofing can degrade at seams and fasteners where water penetrates; aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, preventing corrosion at these vulnerable points. The 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 alloys maintain impact resistance and structural integrity through decades of these cycles. No other common roofing metal offers this combination of flexibility and self-protection.
Can a metal roof withstand Lyle's wind gusts?
Yes. Lyle's typical gusts reach about 110 km/h, and Interlock panels are warranted to resist 120 mph (193 km/h) sustained winds when installed to specification. The four-way mechanical interlock—where each panel locks to its neighbors on all sides—distributes wind load across the entire roof plane rather than relying on fasteners alone. This redundancy prevents the panel uplift and flutter that damage traditional shingles and single-lock metal systems. Installation over solid decking further strengthens the assembly.
Do I need to reinforce my roof framing for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is required. Interlock panels weigh extraordinarily little—the Slate profile installs at about 0.41 lb/sq ft, and the Mediterranean Tile (which replicates the heaviest traditional tile) weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most existing roofs in Lyle can support the installation without framing upgrades. This also means the roof can be installed directly over many existing asphalt shingle systems, eliminating tear-off costs and landfill waste.
What maintenance does an Interlock metal roof need?
Very little. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (measured to ASTM D4214 and D2244 standards), so you won't refinish the roof. Periodic gutter cleaning handles debris—the same as asphalt shingles require. Aluminum never requires wood sealing, staining, or moss treatment, unlike cedar shake roofs. With about 3181 annual sunshine hours, Lyle's dry periods keep the roof naturally clean. Over the roof's lifetime, metal roofing costs far less to maintain than asphalt, wood, or tile alternatives.
How does hail resistance affect insurance costs in Klickitat County?
Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Many insurers recognize Class 4 ratings and offer lower premiums for metal roofing than for asphalt or wood shakes. While hail events aren't implied by Lyle's climate data, the rating ensures that if severe weather occurs, your roof is protected and potential insurance claims are straightforward. Contact your insurer to confirm eligible discounts; the ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation report supports underwriting decisions.
Is metal roofing worth the higher upfront cost?
Metal roofing costs more upfront—typically 2 to 3 times asphalt—but over a 50+ year lifespan, the total cost of ownership favors metal. Asphalt requires replacement every 15–20 years; each cycle includes tear-off, disposal, and reinstallation. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty on materials (non-prorated for the original owner, transferable 50 years from completion) eliminates those cycles. The 30-year finish warranty on Alunar coating means no refinishing costs. In Lyle's harsh climate—1056 mm rain, 193 cm snow, 55 freeze-thaw days annually—asphalt lifespan is further shortened. Aluminum's durability and maintenance simplicity deliver genuine long-term savings.
Why won't aluminum rust like steel or copper roofing?
Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust. When exposed to air, aluminum oxidizes—but the oxide layer is extremely thin, stable, and self-heals when scratched, preventing corrosion that spreads. Steel rusts because iron oxidizes into iron oxide, which is porous and flakes away, exposing more iron to oxidation. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), both engineered for durability. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides) provides an additional 30-year warranty against environmental degradation. In Lyle's wet climate, this dual protection means zero rust risk across the roof's lifetime.
