Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Trout Lake, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Trout Lake
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Trout Lake, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Trout Lake.
How does a metal roof handle Trout Lake's heavy snow and ice?
Aluminum's smooth surface and thermal properties naturally shed snow and ice better than asphalt. With about 154 cm of snow annually and roughly 46 freeze-thaw days per year, your roof faces serious cycling stress. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels lock together so snow doesn't migrate under joints, and you can add snow guards if needed. The light weight—the Shake profile weighs just 0.58 lb/sq ft—means less structural strain from accumulated snow loads, and aluminum's oxide layer stays intact through freeze-thaw cycles without cracking or deteriorating like asphalt or wood shake do.
Why does freeze-thaw weather in Trout Lake favor aluminum roofing?
Trout Lake experiences roughly 46 freeze-thaw cycles yearly—where moisture enters a material, freezes, expands, and degrades it. Aluminum doesn't absorb water, so it has nothing to freeze and expand inside. The 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 alloys used in Interlock panels maintain their structural integrity regardless of temperature swings. Compare that to asphalt, which becomes brittle in cold and soft in warm spells, or wood shake, which splits and cups with moisture. Your roof sees about 937 mm of rain and 154 cm of snow annually—water will hit your roof constantly—so a non-absorbent material is a real advantage.
Can an aluminum metal roof rust in Trout Lake's wet climate?
No. Aluminum contains no iron, so it cannot rust—period. Instead, it forms a microscopically thin aluminum oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath. When that layer gets scratched, it self-heals by reoxidizing. Interlock adds a 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (Alunar®) on both sides of every panel, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, giving you a second line of defense. In Trout Lake's wet climate—almost 1,000 mm of rain yearly—corrosion resistance matters. Steel roofing would need constant vigilance; aluminum forgives neglect.
Does Interlock metal roofing hold up to Trout Lake's wind gusts?
Yes. Trout Lake sees typical winds around 13 km/h but gusts reaching 108 km/h—and Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are engineered to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Each panel locks its neighbors at four points, creating a unified system that moves as one rather than individual shingles lifting or separating. That design, combined with the aluminum's rigidity, gives you confidence in spring windstorms and rare high-wind events. Your roof won't flutter, and you won't wake up missing panels after a gust.
What's the hail rating on Interlock metal roofing, and could it lower my insurance?
Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That's real insurance-speak: most carriers recognize Class 4 impact resistance and some offer discounts on homes with metal roofs. Aluminum's inherent hardness helps; a hail strike dents but doesn't perforate like asphalt shingles do. Contact your insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 documentation, and ask. Many Trout Lake homeowners find the warranty peace-of-mind alone worth the conversation.
Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof in Trout Lake?
No—that's one of aluminum's clearest advantages. The Tile profile weighs roughly 96% less than concrete or clay tile, and even the heavier Shake comes in at just 0.58 lb/sq ft. Compare that to slate or traditional tile at 10+ lb/sq ft. With nearly 154 cm of snow falling annually, a lightweight roof that doesn't add extra dead load is genuine value. Interlock installs over most existing roofs without reinforcement, saving you money on structural work. The light weight is why Interlock's Antarctic research-station installation works—extreme climates demand materials that don't burden the structure they're protecting.
With almost 1,000 mm of rain per year in Trout Lake, will a metal roof leak?
Not if it's installed right. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels overlap like roof tiles—water sheds down and out, never sideways into a joint. The metal itself doesn't absorb water, so even if water sits briefly on the surface, it can't wick or rot the roof. Trout Lake gets about 937 mm of rain annually, and the sloped panels direct every drop downward and off at the edge. Installation matters: your installer (Interlock Metal Roofing PNW has served the region since 1997) ensures proper flashing at penetrations and eaves. A metal roof in a wet climate is actually simpler and more reliable than asphalt, which deteriorates and develops leaks over time.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over the life of the roof?
Yes. A metal roof costs more initially, but you install it once and live with it for decades—possibly forever. Asphalt needs replacement every 15–20 years. Interlock's Guardian warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, transferable for 50 years to the next owner—you're buying the last roof you'll install. Factor in no tear-off waste, no constant repairs, and minimal maintenance, and the math favors metal. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Over 40+ years in Trout Lake's wet, freeze-thaw climate, asphalt costs accumulate; aluminum stands still.
Is Interlock metal roofing sustainable or recyclable?
Aluminum is about 95% recyclable, and Interlock panels are made from aluminum alloy (ASTM B209 3105-H24 and 3003-H24), so your roof never enters a landfill. Asphalt shingles tear off every 15–20 years and go to the dump. Over a lifetime, that's multiple roofs in a landfill. Trout Lake residents who care about waste reduction appreciate that metal roofing ends the cycle: when your roof eventually needs recycling (unlikely in your lifetime), the aluminum gets melted down for new products. It's CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance and environmental impact. Installing once and keeping it for life beats replacing asphalt four or five times.
