Work on the price, and I think you will get yourself a lot of business. A lot of the labor varies whether you take off the roof or not and includes the cost of removing the roof, and in my case, they would not be taking away anything, so I am still trying to figure out why it would be a two-day job when it's not that big of a roof.

Review: December 13, 2021Completion: November 16, 2021

Interlock Roofing took forever. There was so much wrong. I needed a roof replacement from the damage. It took two months for them to respond. When they did come out, I was overcharged for the bid. They had to redo the bid. I got emails sent to me that weren't even my estimate. It was somebody else's. I got the run-around and was trying to contact people. They were saying they would get me to them and nobody would ever call me back. I finally got a hold of someone who did communicate with me and finally got someone to come out to replace the roof. Interlock Roofing could have improved with the installation, workmanship as they are cleaning things up, and taking care of customers' property. My experience with Interlock Roofing was awful and I'm not happy.

I can't believe how much the roof changed the entire view of the house. There could have been more consistent clean-up during the installation. We have no regrets.

I would not recommend them because I am not impressed with this company. I think the salesman should have had the proper skylights ordered for my home and not trying to fit ones in the space. I could have gotten the roof at half the price and one that does not leak.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Wahkiacus

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Wahkiacus, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Wahkiacus.

How does a metal roof handle Wahkiacus's annual snow load and ice dams?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because aluminum's smooth, hard surface resists ice adhesion and allows snow to slide safely when temperatures fluctuate. Wahkiacus receives about 112 cm of snow annually across roughly 50 freeze-thaw days, making this cycle critical to your roof's durability. Four-way interlocking panels stay watertight even when snow melts and refreezes, preventing the granule loss and water infiltration that shortens asphalt shingle life. Install snow guards if you want to control slides onto walkways; the lightweight aluminum installs easily over your existing roof without structural concerns.

Will freeze-thaw cycling damage my metal roof in Wahkiacus winters?

No. Aluminum expands and contracts with temperature swings, but its crystalline structure and the interlocking joint design accommodate this movement without cracking or splitting. With about 50 freeze-thaw cycles per year in Klickitat County, material brittleness matters—and roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is engineered to flex without fatigue. Unlike wood shakes or clay tiles, which absorb moisture and crack under repeated freezing, aluminum panels remain dimensionally stable. The Guardian Warranty explicitly covers splitting and cracking, reflecting confidence in this material's resilience through Wahkiacus winters.

Can aluminum metal roofing rust or corrode in Wahkiacus?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and creates rust. Instead, aluminum naturally forms a microscopic oxide layer on its surface that self-heals when scratched, providing passive corrosion protection. Wahkiacus's 578 mm of annual rainfall and regional moisture exposure would devastate steel roofing, but aluminum and its Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (warranted 30 years against corrosion and chalking) thrive in wet climates. Since Interlock has installed roofs from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic stations, regional precipitation is well within the material's proven range. This durability means no rusting repairs—ever.

Does my metal roof need extra reinforcement to handle Wahkiacus wind gusts?

No. Wahkiacus experiences typical regional gusts to about 108 km/h, well below the 120 mph (193 km/h) wind speed warranty that Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are rated to resist when installed to specification. The overlapping panel geometry locks each piece to its neighbors, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than concentrating force on individual fasteners. This design, combined with the material's non-combustible aluminum construction (ICC-ES ESR-1790 certified), means your existing structure needs no reinforcement. Professional installation to Interlock's standard ensures your warranty coverage applies in any windstorm.

Can my existing roof structure support a metal roof, or do I need reinforcement?

Most Wahkiacus homes need no structural reinforcement. Interlock's Shake profile weighs only 0.58 lb/sq ft and the Tile profile about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so your existing framing easily handles the load. To put this in perspective, your current asphalt shingles already support more weight, and metal roofing installs directly over them without tearing off or adding structural strain. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms this lightweight advantage. A qualified local installer like Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. can confirm your specific home's capacity in minutes, but structural upgrades are rare in this region.

What hail protection does an Interlock metal roof offer, and can it reduce insurance costs?

Interlock's aluminum panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty specifically covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 rating means your roof withstands impact energy that would damage asphalt or wood shakes. Many insurance companies reward this durability with premium discounts; contact your agent with the UL rating and non-combustible aluminum material specs to request a quote adjustment. Wahkiacus's regional hail risk is modest, but the engineered impact resistance gives you peace of mind and documented proof of durability that insurers recognize and value.

What's the actual lifespan of an Interlock metal roof, and how does the warranty work?

Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance for as long as you own the home. Transfer to the next owner grants 50 years of coverage from completion, making it a genuine multi-generational investment. The roofing-grade aluminum alloy and 30-year Alunar PVDF coating warranty (measured per ASTM D4214 and D2244 standards) show why longevity is realistic: Interlock has manufactured these panels since 1998 and installed roofs still performing flawlessly from that era. In Wahkiacus's 112 cm annual snow and 50 freeze-thaw cycles, this material and warranty combination is your last roof.

Do Interlock's reflective coatings really lower cooling costs in a cool climate like Wahkiacus?

Yes, but the benefit is subtle in Wahkiacus's cooler climate. energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they reflect heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your attic. Over a year with 3375 sunshine hours, even modest reflection reduces cooling demand in summer, and in spring and fall, reflective surfaces lower the temperature swings that trigger freeze-thaw cycles—protecting your roof further. The energy-efficiency rating also qualifies for CALGreen verification and potential local incentives. Think of it as passive climate control that extends roof life while trimming utility costs incrementally.

How much maintenance does an Interlock metal roof need compared to asphalt, wood, or tile?

Metal roofing requires far less maintenance than asphalt, wood, or tile. Asphalt shingles lose granules in Wahkiacus's 50 annual freeze-thaw cycles and need gutters cleared and algae-stained sections treated; wood shakes split and require professional sealing every 3–5 years; clay tiles crack and need periodic regrouting. Aluminum panels shed debris with rainfall, the interlocking joints resist water infiltration, and the non-porous Alunar finish doesn't support moss or algae growth. You inspect gutters and flashing annually—the same upkeep any roof demands—but the material itself stays inert and maintenance-free. CALGreen verification confirms this reduced-maintenance profile, lowering your 30-year ownership costs substantially.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost in Wahkiacus, or should I stick with asphalt shingles?

Metal roofing costs more upfront but becomes cheaper over your ownership life. A typical asphalt roof lasts 15–20 years in Wahkiacus's wet, freeze-thaw climate and requires tear-off and landfill disposal, then a second replacement. Interlock's lifetime warranty and proven durability through 50+ freeze-thaw cycles annually mean you install once and keep the roof for 30+ years or the life of your ownership—eliminating labor, materials, and disposal costs of multiple replacements. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation, which narrows the upfront gap significantly. Add energy savings, insurance discounts, and resale value, and metal becomes the last-roof-you-buy investment.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Wahkiacus’s climate?

Yes. Wahkiacus averages about 112 cm of snow, 578 mm of rain, roughly 50 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 108 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
