Review: December 13, 2021Completion: November 16, 2021

Interlock Roofing took forever. There was so much wrong. I needed a roof replacement from the damage. It took two months for them to respond. When they did come out, I was overcharged for the bid. They had to redo the bid. I got emails sent to me that weren't even my estimate. It was somebody else's. I got the run-around and was trying to contact people. They were saying they would get me to them and nobody would ever call me back. I finally got a hold of someone who did communicate with me and finally got someone to come out to replace the roof. Interlock Roofing could have improved with the installation, workmanship as they are cleaning things up, and taking care of customers' property. My experience with Interlock Roofing was awful and I'm not happy.

Work on the price, and I think you will get yourself a lot of business. A lot of the labor varies whether you take off the roof or not and includes the cost of removing the roof, and in my case, they would not be taking away anything, so I am still trying to figure out why it would be a two-day job when it's not that big of a roof.

I can't believe how much the roof changed the entire view of the house. There could have been more consistent clean-up during the installation. We have no regrets.

I would not recommend them because I am not impressed with this company. I think the salesman should have had the proper skylights ordered for my home and not trying to fit ones in the space. I could have gotten the roof at half the price and one that does not leak.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Wishram

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Wishram, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Wishram.

Will a metal roof hold up to Wishram's freeze-thaw cycles?

Yes—aluminum's non-porous structure actually thrives in freeze-thaw conditions. Unlike asphalt or wood, it absorbs zero water, so ice expansion cannot crack or degrade it. Wishram experiences about 48 freeze-thaw days per year, which would gradually damage traditional roofing; aluminum expands and contracts uniformly without fatigue. The 3105-H24 alloy (ASTM B209) maintains its integrity through repeated thermal cycling, and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating (both sides) resists the salt-laden moisture that accelerates deterioration in Pacific Northwest freeze-thaw zones.

How does a metal roof handle Wishram's snow and ice buildup?

Metal's smooth, low-friction surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt, and the roof's light weight—Interlock Slate installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—means it supports Wishram's typical 56 cm annual snowfall without structural strain. The interlocking four-way system creates a unified shell that resists ice-dam formation better than segmented shingles. Snow guards can be added if desired, and the tight panel connection (verified under ESR-1790 testing) prevents water infiltration during freeze-thaw cycles common in this region's 48 annual freeze-thaw days.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over 40+ years, metal costs significantly less per year of roof life. Asphalt typically requires replacement every 15–20 years; Interlock's lifetime limited warranty (non-prorated for the original owner, transferable for 50 years) means you install once and stop replacing. In Wishram's climate—449 mm rain, 56 cm snow, and 48 freeze-thaw days annually—asphalt deteriorates faster than in drier regions. The Guardian Warranty covers rusting, rotting, splitting, and cracking, eliminating the hidden costs of repairs asphalt roofs face. Current financing (no payments, no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off) removes the initial barrier.

How much upkeep does an Interlock metal roof require in Washington?

Virtually none beyond occasional gutter cleaning. Metal roofs don't crack, curl, rot, or lose granules like asphalt, and they're CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Wishram's 3,430 annual sunshine hours and typical 16 km/h winds keep the surface naturally clean. Unlike wood shakes (which require treatment and inspections), clay tile (which breaks and stains), or asphalt (which degrades under UV and thermal cycling), aluminum's Alunar 70% PVDF finish resists chalking and fading for 30 years. A simple annual inspection ensures gutters drain properly—that's it.

Can a metal roof reduce cooling costs in summer?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect significantly more solar heat than asphalt absorbs. The Aged Copper Penny finish achieves up to 0.55 initial solar reflectance and 0.84 thermal emissivity, rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. While Wishram's mean temperature is 12.4°C (cool overall), summer peaks still occur; reflective metal roofing keeps attics cooler, reducing HVAC strain. Metal also conducts heat away from living spaces faster than dark asphalt, which radiates stored warmth into homes at night. Over Wishram's 40+ year roof life, this efficiency compounds into measurable energy savings.

What exactly does Interlock's lifetime warranty cover?

The Guardian Warranty is non-prorated for the original owner—no gradual deduction over time—and covers material defects including rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from installation completion. Unlike limited warranties that narrow over time, this commitment reflects Interlock's confidence in aluminum's durability; the company has manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998 and installed roofs from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations. In Wishram's 48 freeze-thaw days per year and 449 mm annual rain, that protection directly addresses the region's most common failure modes.

Is a metal roof fire-safe for a Washington home?

Yes—Interlock panels are non-combustible aluminum, and Class A fire ratings are available (the highest classification). Aluminum itself cannot ignite, and the ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-1790, reissued 2025) confirms compliance with all IBC/IRC fire codes. Class A rating means the roof resists severe fire exposure, critical for wildfire-prone regions of the Pacific Northwest. Unlike wood shakes (which are naturally flammable) or asphalt (which can melt and contribute to fire spread), aluminum provides passive fire protection without additional coatings or treatments, reducing insurance liability and meeting modern building standards.

Will my house need structural reinforcement for a metal roof?

Almost certainly not. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile (which replicates heavy ceramic tile) weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than actual concrete or clay tile. Even the Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft is negligible compared to asphalt's typical 2–4 lb/sq ft. Most existing roofs can support Interlock directly, meaning no costly framing upgrades and installation over your current shingles in many cases. Wishram's typical wind gusts of 84 km/h (warranted to 193 km/h with proper installation) create more structural demand than the roof's weight itself, so lightweight metal actually reduces total load on your home's frame.

How long does it take to install a metal roof on my Wishram home?

Installation timelines depend on roof size and complexity, but metal roofing typically installs faster than asphalt or tile because panels lock together in a continuous shell rather than requiring individual fastening. Wishram's average 16 km/h winds and manageable weather (3,430 sunshine hours annually) provide good installation windows. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., serving the region since 1997, can often complete residential projects in 2–5 days. Because aluminum's light weight (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft) doesn't strain structure, many installations proceed over existing roofs without tearoff—reducing labor time and eliminating landfill waste, a major sustainability advantage.

Why is aluminum roofing better for the environment than asphalt?

Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, closing the recycling loop; asphalt shingles end up in landfills by the million tons yearly. Wishram's 449 mm annual rainfall means roof longevity matters—every asphalt replacement (typically every 15–20 years) sends tons to waste. Interlock's lifetime warranty eliminates the tear-off-to-landfill cycle altogether; one installation lasts 40+ years. Even the manufacturing advantage is real: recycled aluminum requires 95% less energy to produce than virgin bauxite, and Interlock has manufactured responsibly in Delta, BC since 1998. CALGreen verification confirms the reduced maintenance footprint as well.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Wishram’s climate?

Yes. Wishram averages about 56 cm of snow, 449 mm of rain, roughly 48 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 84 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
