I am very pleased with the look and style of the roof! This is my second Interlock roof and the quality is built to last! Nothing comes to mind. This is my second roof with Interlock. This roof is tucked away, so not many people get to see it. But when someone comes down the driveway, they really notice the roof now!

See below! 1. COMMUNICATION! I was unable to contact ANYONE for an entire weekend when I had been told work would be occurring. 2. Ensure that all materials are in hand before beginning work. 3. COMMUNICATE! This also refers to communicating to installers what time to show up, contract requirements (including all vents), and basics like covering a heat pump and plants before beginning work.

Review: October 23, 2020Completion: September 3, 2020

They did well. We were given information on how other roofs are put together, so it was an easy decision because of how Interlock Roofing roofs are designed. I work with a background in construction, and the only thing I would advise is that during the build they take photos of the progress and assemble a closeout package that way the homeowner has something to look back on to reference and if they sell the house they can transfer that as part of the warranty for the new owner.

Review: September 16, 2020Completion: September 7, 2020

We had the Interlock Roof put on our home this month and I am satisfied with the look and performance of the roof so far. The crew completed the roof in a timely fashion, and was very professional! Our neighbors have paid us compliments about the roof. I really look forward to the longevity of the roof. The temperature the week following the installation was in the 80’s, and the roof kept the temperature inside our house at 75. We did not have to run the air conditioning until we reached the 90’s. The temperature inside our garage was approximately 20 degrees cooler than before the roof. To anyone looking to replace his or her roof, I would recommend the Interlock Roofing System!

Our installation crew got sick, so it took a lot longer than it was supposed to, but obviously that is understandable. That is the only thing that Interlock Roofing could have improved during our project.

They could have improved the final cleaning. Ross said the installation would only be 2-3 days but it took a week. I was not satisfied about that.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in North Marysville

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in North Marysville, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in North Marysville.

How does a metal roof handle North Marysville's 52 cm of annual snow?

Interlock metal roofing sheds snow and ice effectively due to aluminum's smooth, hard surface and low coefficient of friction. With about 120 cm of total precipitation yearly in your region, plus freeze-thaw cycling roughly 58 days per year, the four-way interlocking panels remain watertight and won't accumulate ice dams the way asphalt shingles do. The lightweight design—the Slate profile weighs only 0.41 lb/sq ft—means no structural reinforcement is needed, even as snow loads build. Snow guards are available if you want to manage runoff. The panel seams are sealed integrally, not by sealant, so freeze-thaw stress doesn't degrade weatherability.

Will a metal roof rust in a wet Pacific Northwest climate like North Marysville?

No. Interlock roofing uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), which contains no iron and therefore cannot rust. When aluminum is scratched or exposed, it forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects the underlying metal. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of every panel and carries a 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. This dual-sided coating is especially important in regions like Snohomish County with 1372 mm of annual rainfall. The product has been installed in coastal salt-air homes and Antarctic research stations—far harsher than your local wet climate—without rust failure.

Does freeze-thaw cycling in North Marysville damage metal roofing?

Freeze-thaw stress—which occurs about 58 days per year locally—actually favors metal over traditional materials. Aluminum expands and contracts freely, and the four-way interlocking panels accommodate movement without cracking, splitting, or curling. Asphalt shingles become brittle in cold, and wood shakes split when water freezes in the grain. Slate and tile crack under repeated freeze-thaw stress. Interlock's aluminum design handles your region's average temperature of 10.2°C and typical winter freeze cycles without degradation. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025) confirms the system's structural durability under these conditions.

Can metal roofing withstand North Marysville wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock roofing is warranted to resist sustained wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. North Marysville's typical daily-maximum winds are around 14 km/h, with gusts reaching about 96 km/h—well within that safety margin. The four-way interlocking design locks panels together on all sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on fasteners alone. The Shake profile and other interlocking styles have been validated under UL 2218 Class 4 impact testing, a rigorous standard that confirms the system's structural integrity during severe weather events.

Do reflective metal roofing colors actually reduce cooling costs in the Pacific Northwest?

Yes, particularly in spring and summer. Interlock offers energy-efficient colors with solar reflectance up to 0.55 (measured in Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity of 0.84, rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. Your region enjoys about 2907 sunshine hours per year; reflective coatings capture that benefit by bouncing heat away rather than absorbing it like asphalt. Even in a temperate climate averaging 10.2°C, lighter colors reduce cooling load during warmer months and lower overall utility costs. The energy efficiency gains compound over a 50-year roof life, especially when you factor in avoiding repeated asphalt tear-off-and-replace cycles that waste embodied energy.

Can an existing home's structure support a metal tile roof without reinforcement?

Yes, in nearly all cases. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means no expensive structural reinforcement is required, and the system installs directly over most existing roofs, eliminating tear-off labor and landfill disposal. The lightweight aluminum design is especially valuable for older homes in North Marysville built to lighter load assumptions. The ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) confirms compatibility with residential framing. You gain the architectural look of traditional tile with the weight savings of aluminum alloy.

What is the warranty on an Interlock metal roof, and how long does it really last?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years from completion—meaning your resale appeal extends far beyond the typical 25-year asphalt cycle. The Alunar fluorocarbon finish alone carries a separate 30-year warranty. With installation in 1998 and deployments from coastal salt air to Antarctica, the installed base proves durability exceeds 25 years. Your region's 58 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 96 km/h wind gusts are ordinary operating conditions for this product.

How much maintenance does a metal roof require compared to asphalt or wood?

Far less. Aluminum panels don't require re-sealing, re-coating, or replacement of failed shingles like asphalt does every 15-25 years. Wood shakes split and rot in North Marysville's 1372 mm annual rainfall and need costly replacement. Interlock requires occasional debris clearing and inspection—essentially the same care you'd give gutters. The four-way interlocking design and integral seams eliminate maintenance-prone caulking and sealants. The CALGreen verification documents the system's reduced-maintenance profile. Over 50 years, you avoid the labor, material, and environmental cost of multiple asphalt replacements, making this genuinely the last roof you install.

Is metal roofing fire-safe for North Marysville homes?

Yes. Interlock aluminum roofing is non-combustible and carries a Class A fire classification (the highest rating). The product itself does not ignite, flame, or contribute fuel to a fire. Aluminum's natural fire resistance—combined with the ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) validating installation to code—gives you and your insurer confidence. This matters in Snohomish County, where wildfire risk is always a regional consideration. Unlike wood shakes or asphalt shingles, aluminum provides inherent fire safety without additional protective coatings or treatments that degrade over time.

How does metal roofing cost compare to asphalt over the lifetime of your home?

Upfront cost is higher, but lifetime value strongly favors metal. Asphalt roofs fail every 15-25 years; in North Marysville's 58 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 1372 mm rainfall, aging accelerates. You'll replace asphalt 2-3 times in 50 years. Each replacement includes labor, tear-off disposal, and disruption. Interlock's lifetime warranty (non-prorated), 30-year coating guarantee, and proven durability mean one installation covers your ownership and transfers 50 years to the next owner, boosting resale appeal. Current financing—no payments or interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—further improves affordability. The math is simple: buy asphalt three times, or buy Interlock once.

Is a metal roof a good choice for North Marysville’s climate?

Yes. North Marysville averages about 52 cm of snow, 1372 mm of rain, roughly 58 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 96 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
