Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Oakville, Connecticut
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Everybody was great to work with highly professional. Any underlying damage was all taken care of and we love the roof.
> We had the pleasure of meeting Jonathan Brown at the Mohegan Sun Home Show and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tell him how happy we are with our Interlock roof of ~20 years. We constantly receive compliments from people passing by on how beautiful it looks. Most of all, we appreciate the peace of mind it gives us—knowing we’ll never have to replace our roof, thanks to the lifetime warranty and guaranteed protection against leaks.
Jonathan was great help getting us all the information needed for the roof and what to expect, and the whole process. The installation was fast, the roofers were hard working and professional. The look of the metal roof is superb!
It was a pleasure working with Interlock from beginning to end. The back office was good about setting expectations for job start and duration, delivery of materials (which happened on time) and work to be performed. They were also good about making adjustments to work with trim that needed to be replaced, etc. The crew that did the install and cleanup was very professional and hard working. I am extremely satisfied with the end result and would definitely recommend Interlock! This is actually my second roof, I had one installed on a different property 20 years ago and it has held the test of time with virtually no maintenance.
What a beautiful roof. We are so happy and now we have a forever roof. Thank you. Techs were great. Positive: Punctuality, Quality Services: Roof installation
Salesman was very courteous and polite. Straight forward no hype or fluff. Company kept constant contact, took care of the required building permits. Had the dumpster and materials delivered on time and removed quickly. The crew was phenomenal, polite courteous. Explained everything, and was very conscientious about their work. If the the nail didn't go in the way he liked he pulled it and did it right. Nailing was all done by hand. Roof has been great since no issues and still looks great. Over all very pleased and well worth the money.
Couldn’t have chosen a better product, it’s been 2 years since installation and have absolutely no issues. The house is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Speaking of winter it’s only a matter of hours after a snow storm that all the snow slides right off, no more ice dams and ice filled gutters. The installers were awesome had the entire roof done in a day and a half and cleaned up prior to leaving. We love our Interlock roof.
This letter has been a long time in coming. My husband and I had an Interlock Roof installed in November 2009 and have been meaning to tell you how pleased we are with the look of the new roof and the service provided by the installers ~ Nazaar and Vitality. We’ve gotten many questions and compliments from friends, neighbors and passersby. Both our home and detached garage needed to be re-roofed, with both requiring removal of the old roofing material and the installation of plywood before applying the Interlock product. We were originally told that it would take up to 2 weeks for the job to be completed. To our amazement, the job was completed within a week’s time and that included inclement weather! Nazaar and Vitaliy put in very long days, were very polite, honored their commitments and ALWAYS cleaned everything up before they left for the day. We have children and a dog and found not one nail in the yard after the job was completed. Based on this experience and a product that speaks for itself, we would definitely recommend an Interlock Roof!
I wish to thank " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">Interlock Industries, Inc. for a great roofing system. I'm 100% satisfied and it has a clean and beautiful look. It's great! It's wonderful to know the roof never need replacement again. I also wish to thank Bob Allen, Jerry and Paul McAllister for being so helpful in completing the work. I know this " target="\_blank" rel="noopener">roof system was right when we met Bob Allen the first time, he explained everything in detail. Everything he said was correct. The men who did the work were polite and respectiful, and were clean and neat in the work process. Thank you guys. I would recommend an Interlock Roof for every home, or any building and the long term ">cost is less than another roof system.
Sorry I didn’t get this to you sooner, but I just wanted to drop you a line on the excellent installation of my roof by Nazar and Sergei. They installed our roof in February and never let the harsh weather affect their attention to detail and their determination to do quality work. I was very fortunate to get these two Ukrainian gentlemen as my installers.
I am writing to tell you how much my wife and I are satisfied with our new roof from Interlock Roofing. Our old asphalt shingles were showing the effects of time both aesthetically and functionally. Most noticeably was the water mark on the living room ceiling that just kept growing with each passing rain. We certainly weren't looking forward to buying a new roof, since we were still paying for our wedding six months before, but knew we had to do something soon. I mentioned to Dawn that I had heard metal roofs were becoming popular because of how long they last; but she was concerned our home would look like a fast food restaurant, a factory, or even worse a tin roof barn. She made it clear that a modern looking metal roof would ruin the look of our 1860s vintage home. I said I thought I had seen a couple of years ago a house that was done with what I thought the sign said was metal but looked like shingles instead of ridged sheets she pictured. The problem was I couldn't remember the name of the roofer – just that they had an orange sign. A friend of our mentioned there was a Home Show coming up in Worchester and we figured it would be fun to look around and dream about improvements we could make. As we walked the aisles, I saw your familiar orange sign and product display booth. I said to Dawn look at this! This looks really nice – it looks just like " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate! Wouldn't that look really great on our house! Two weeks later, you explained what made Interlock Roofing different from other materials and the lifetime " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty helped us feel confident in making what was for us a major purchase decision. Although an Interlock roof might cost more initially, we think it is well worth it knowing we will never have to buy another roof for this home again. Your company and crews are great! A representative called to let us know materials were being delivered and when they arrived they were neatly stored out of the way until the work began. A supervisor called to let us know when the work would begin, and except for two days of rain which delayed their start, the job was completed within the estimated three days. At the end of each day, they cleaned up after themselves and when the job was competed they raked up any pieces that may have been missed in the grass. The completed roof looks great and enhances the appearance of our home. We have had many people stop and compliment us on it and at least one had already installed an Interlock roof of their own. Should we ever move from this home in the future, one of the features we will look for is an Interlock roof or plan on upgrading to one in our new home as well.
Just wanted to let you know that we are very satisfied with the aluminum interlocking roof which was installed in July of 2005. It was amazing to us how quickly and efficiently your men worked in removing our old asphalt layers of roof and installing the new one. Needless to say, we were very impressed with their work as well as our new roof! Unfortunately, during installation of the roof, damage was done to the interior ceiling of our dining room. Interlock did respond and the damaged area was repaired in a timely manner. Unfortunately our existing ceilings are plaster and the repaired area was done in wallboard which simply do not match. In order for this to be repaired properly, the entire ceiling has to be repainted with a light texture. Whatever you can do to help rectify the pending repair to the interior ceiling would be greatly appreciated. We look forward to speaking with you in the near future. Once again, thank you for offering us the opportunity to upgrade our home with an outstanding roof.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Oakville
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Oakville, Connecticut. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Oakville.
Will a metal roof handle Connecticut's freeze-thaw cycles without cracking or failing?
Yes. Aluminum expands and contracts with temperature swings, but its non-brittle structure resists the cracking that plagues asphalt, wood, and concrete tile. Oakville experiences about 72 freeze-thaw days annually, and the Alunar coating—warranted 30 years against chalking and fading—protects the aluminum oxide layer from accelerated breakdown. Unlike asphalt shingles, which become brittle in cold, or slate that can split, aluminum's flexibility is an advantage in your climate.
How does metal roofing perform under Oakville's heavy snow load and ice dam risk?
Metal roofing sheds snow and ice more readily than asphalt because its smooth, hard surface offers less grip for ice formation; the four-way interlocking panels seal tight, preventing water infiltration if ice dams do form. Oakville receives about 65 cm of snow yearly. The Interlock Shake, Cedar Shingle, and Slate profiles can be ordered with snow guards if you need to control slide-off on steep pitches. The material's light weight—Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft—eliminates structural strain even with full snow cover.
Will my metal roof leak with Oakville's 1,200+ mm of annual rainfall?
No. Heavy rainfall (Oakville averages about 1,232 mm per year) requires tight panel interlocking and proper underlayment; Interlock's four-way mechanical interlocking system, installed per ICC-ES ESR-1790 specifications, handles that. The overlap design sheds water downslope. When installed over a solid deck with underlayment by our local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc., the roof drains like asphalt but without asphalt's tendency to pond water in valleys or degrade under UV.
Are metal roof panels secure in Oakville's wind gusts, which can reach 126 km/h?
Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Your region's typical gusts of 126 km/h fall well within that rating. The four-way interlocking design locks panels together mechanically, so wind cannot lift edges or separate joints. Unlike asphalt shingles, which rely on adhesive and fasteners alone, the aluminum panels themselves form a unified structure that does not degrade or lose grip over time.
Will hail damage my metal roof, and can I get an insurance discount?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This non-combustible, dent-resistant aluminum rarely needs claims. Many insurers recognize the durability and offer premium discounts for Class 4 roofs. Ask your agent about the impact rating when you insure; some carriers factor it into renewal rates. Document the UL 2218 Class 4 rating with your proof of installation.
Can my existing house framing support a metal roof, or will I need expensive structural work?
Your existing framing almost certainly can support it. Interlock Slate weighs only 0.41 lb/sq ft, Cedar Shingle 0.58, and Tile 0.59—the Tile profile is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. That lightness means no costly reinforcement; the roof can install directly over your existing shingles, wood, or other substrates. A typical asphalt-shingled home already carries more roof weight than an Interlock metal installation will, so structural upgrade is rarely necessary.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to replacing asphalt shingles again in 20 years?
Yes, if you plan to stay long-term or sell later. The Guardian lifetime limited warranty—non-prorated for the original owner and transferable with 50 years for the next owner—means you buy this roof once. Asphalt needs replacement every 15–25 years; Oakville's 72 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 65 cm of snow accelerate deterioration. The current regional promotion (no interest or payments until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation) lowers the entry cost. Over 50 years, one metal roof beats three asphalt roof cycles.
What exactly does Interlock's lifetime warranty cover, and is it really transferable?
The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no time limit. It transfers once to the next owner with a 50-year coverage term from completion date. This means when you sell, the buyer gets a 50-year material guarantee, a strong selling point. No other roofing material in Oakville—asphalt, wood, or tile—offers that combination of longevity and transferability.
Will a metal roof reduce my summer cooling costs in Connecticut?
Yes, if you choose an energy-efficient color. Interlock's Cool Roof Rating Council-rated finishes (such as Aged Copper Penny, with solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity 0.84) reflect heat that asphalt absorbs. With about 3,134 sunshine hours per year in Oakville, that reflectance compounds over the cooling season. Metal also conducts heat away from the deck faster than asphalt. The energy savings depend on your color choice and roof pitch, but energy-efficiency colors can reduce roof surface temperature by 20–30°F on sunny days.
Is aluminum roofing really more environmentally responsible than asphalt shingles?
Yes. Aluminum is about 95% recyclable at end of life; when you eventually remove it (in 50+ years), the material enters the aluminum supply chain, not a landfill. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, end up in landfills by the millions of tons annually because shingle tear-off becomes construction waste. The energy to recycle aluminum is lower than to produce virgin metal, so your old roof becomes a resource. Over Oakville's rainy climate, choosing not to replace asphalt every 20 years also means fewer tear-offs, less site waste, and fewer truck trips to the dump.
