What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Laketown Township
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Laketown Township, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Laketown Township.
How does a metal roof handle Minnesota snow and ice in Laketown Township winters?
Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice efficiently because the smooth surface and thermal properties prevent the ice dams that form on asphalt. With about 95 cm of snow annually and roughly 79 freeze-thaw cycles per year in this region, the panel's non-porous aluminum oxide layer resists water penetration during thaw cycles. The lightweight design—the Shake profile weighs just 0.58 lb/sq ft—means snow loads won't stress your structure, and optional snow guards keep slides manageable. Aluminum's inability to rust makes it ideal for the repeated moisture exposure that freeze-thaw cycling creates.
Why do freeze-thaw cycles matter for a metal roof in Minnesota?
Laketown Township experiences roughly 79 freeze-thaw days per year, which causes water trapped in porous materials like asphalt and wood to expand and contract, cracking shingles and shortening their life. Aluminum has no pores to trap water; its self-healing oxide layer maintains integrity through endless freeze-thaw swings without deterioration. Because 3105-H24 aluminum cannot rust and the Alunar fluorocarbon coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, the material's performance doesn't degrade with repeated seasonal temperature swings. This is why asphalt typically fails in 15–20 years here while Interlock's lifetime limited warranty reflects decades of proven durability in similar climates.
Will a metal roof rust in Minnesota's wet climate?
No—Interlock panels are made from 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 roofing-grade aluminum alloy, which contains no iron and therefore cannot rust. With roughly 796 mm of rain annually plus significant snowmelt, moisture exposure is constant, but aluminum's naturally forming oxide layer actually protects the metal underneath and self-heals when scratched. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides adds another 30-year-warranted barrier against weathering. Steel roofs can rust if the coating is breached; aluminum roofs cannot, which is why they're the standard for coastal environments and why Interlock has installed roofs from salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations.
Can Interlock metal roofing withstand Minnesota wind gusts?
Laketown Township experiences typical gusts around 94 km/h, well within Interlock's capabilities. The four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h)—more than double your region's peak gusts—because the mechanical interlock system distributes lateral forces across multiple panels rather than relying on fasteners alone. The ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) confirms installation compliance with IBC/IRC wind provisions. This engineering means your roof stays secure during the severe spring and fall storms common to Minnesota without the uplift failures that plague single-fastener asphalt systems in high-wind areas.
Does Interlock roof protect against hail, and can it lower insurance costs?
Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty explicitly covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Minnesota hail is a genuine risk, and many insurers recognize Class 4-rated roofs as lower-risk propositions, often offering premium discounts. Aluminum's inherent toughness combined with the solid deck and underlayment installation method (which mimics asphalt quiet-ness) creates a forgiving impact surface. Unlike brittle materials such as slate or concrete tile that shatter, aluminum flexes and recovers from impacts. This resilience, verified by independent UL testing, has made metal roofing increasingly common on insured properties nationwide.
Is my home's structure strong enough for a metal roof in Laketown Township?
Almost certainly yes. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile—which replicates the appearance of heavy concrete or clay tile—weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it roughly 96% lighter than authentic tile. Even the heavier Shake profile comes in at 0.58 lb/sq ft, a fraction of the roof load that asphalt adds over time (moisture absorption makes asphalt progressively heavier). Because aluminum requires no structural reinforcement, Interlock installs directly over your existing roof in most cases, eliminating costly frame upgrades. This lightweight advantage becomes crucial in Minnesota's snow climate: your home can handle the weight of winter precipitation far more safely with metal than with tile or slate replicas that demand foundation work.
How much maintenance does an Interlock metal roof need?
Interlock requires minimal maintenance—annual gutters inspection and debris clearing, just as with asphalt. The CALGreen-verified design reduces ongoing upkeep because the non-porous aluminum surface doesn't absorb moisture, trap algae, or suffer the granule loss that asphalt does. No treatment for moss, mold, or wood rot applies here. The 30-year-warranted Alunar fluorocarbon coating resists fading and chalking (ASTM D4214 and D2244 tested), so no re-coating cycles are needed. With about 3,128 sunshine hours annually in your region, the UV exposure that degrades asphalt and wood shingles simply doesn't degrade aluminum in the same way. The result: a roof that typically outlasts two asphalt systems with a fraction of the maintenance burden.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Over the roof's full life cycle, metal roofing is typically cheaper. Asphalt lasts roughly 15–20 years in Minnesota's freeze-thaw climate (about 79 cycles per year accelerate failure); you'll replace it 2–3 times before Interlock's lifetime limited warranty expires. The Guardian Warranty is non-prorated for the original owner and transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion—meaning you buy once and stop re-roofing. When you factor labor, disposal fees (asphalt shingles fill landfills), and inflation across multiple cycles, the aluminum total-cost-of-ownership typically favors metal by 30–50% over 50 years. Homes with metal roofs also command resale premiums in many markets, capturing some of that savings upfront.
Will a metal roof reduce cooling costs in Minnesota?
Yes, energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect solar heat rather than absorb it, reducing the temperature your air conditioning must fight. The CRRC (Cool Roof Rating Council) rating confirms that select finishes achieve initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84—meaning they bounce heat away instead of trapping it like asphalt's dark surface. With roughly 3,128 sunshine hours annually in Laketown Township, that reflection adds up. Summer cooling savings are typically 10–20% on air-conditioning loads, which compounds over decades. While Minnesota winters are long, metal's reflective properties don't hurt heating (thermal mass matters far more), and the combination of energy performance plus a 50-year-plus lifespan gives you efficiency gains across multiple seasons of use.
What metal roof styles are available in Laketown Township?
Interlock offers five profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile—each with authentic visual character while delivering metal's durability. The Slate profile replicates traditional slate's linear layering; Cedar Shingle mimics wood shingle texture; Shake echoes hand-split character; Standing Seam provides a clean-lined commercial look; and Mediterranean Tile recalls clay tile curves without the weight or fragility. All five use the same four-way interlocking aluminum construction, ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance, and Guardian Warranty. Your choice is purely aesthetic—whether your home's architecture calls for rustic charm, contemporary lines, or Old World appeal. Since installation over existing roofs is possible with most profiles, you're not locked into your current roof's visual style when you upgrade to metal.
