Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Mayer

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Mayer, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Mayer.

How does a metal roof handle Mayer's heavy snow, and do I need snow guards?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels grip snow and ice firmly; the lightweight design—about 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile—means no structural strain even under Mayer's typical 90 cm annual snowfall. Snow guards are optional and depend on roof pitch and local code; the interlocking geometry itself resists the sliding that concerns homeowners. Our local installer, serving this region since 2001, can assess your roof's angle and recommend guards if your home's layout warrants them. Aluminum's thermal conductivity also helps prevent ice dams that plague asphalt in freeze-thaw cycles like Mayer's 81 annual thaw days.

Why does freeze-thaw cycling in Minnesota damage asphalt but not Interlock aluminum?

Asphalt absorbs moisture and cracks as it expands and contracts through freeze-thaw cycles; Mayer experiences about 81 of these days annually, accelerating that damage. Aluminum's oxide layer—which forms naturally and heals itself when scratched—doesn't absorb water and won't crack, split, or curl. The 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 alloy maintains its integrity through endless temperature swings. Our Alunar coating, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading under ASTM standards, seals both sides of every panel, doubling protection in Minnesota's moisture-rich environment. You're buying a roof that simply doesn't degrade the way organic materials do.

Will my metal roof rust in Minnesota's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, a microscopically thin oxide layer forms instantly on the metal and self-repairs when damaged. Steel roofing, by contrast, must be painted and coated to prevent rust—a battle it loses over time, especially in wet climates like Mayer with 748 mm of annual rainfall. Our roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy is further protected by Alunar fluorocarbon finish applied to both sides, giving you defense against Mayer's 19 km/h average winds carrying moisture-laden air. Even in coastal salt-air installations, Interlock panels have performed flawlessly for over 25 years. You'll never repaint or strip rust.

Can a metal roof survive Mayer's wind gusts and ice loads without coming loose?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification—well above Mayer's typical gust maxima of 97 km/h. The mechanical interlock, not fasteners alone, transfers loads across the roof, so wind can't peel or lift individual panels. Combined with Mayer's 90 cm average snowfall, that solid panel grip prevents the sliding that stresses fasteners and shortens roof life. ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 confirms code compliance for high-wind installation. Your insurance company recognizes this durability; many offer discounts for impact-rated, wind-rated metal roofs.

Does hail in Minnesota affect my metal roof, and can I get an insurance discount?

Interlock meets UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and our warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Minnesota's spring and summer storms can be severe, but aluminum's hardness and the panel's design distribute impact force without cracking or permanently deforming. Many insurance carriers recognize this resilience and reduce premiums for homeowners with Class 4-rated roofs. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 Class 4 certification; it often leads to measurable savings. Over a 50-year roof life, those discounts compound significantly—another reason Interlock becomes your last roof.

Can I install a metal roof over my existing asphalt roof without reinforcing the structure?

Yes. The Mediterranean Tile profile installs at roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so no structural reinforcement is needed. You can nail Interlock directly over most existing asphalt roofs, saving thousands in removal and framing costs. Mayer homes built in the last 50 years are already framed for asphalt shingles (typically heavier than Interlock); aluminum simply removes that load burden. The four-way interlocking design distributes weight evenly across your existing deck. Our local installer will verify your roof's condition and confirm the overlay method during a site visit—usually a one-day installation for a typical Carver County home.

Do the colors actually reduce cooling costs, or is that marketing?

energy-efficient Interlock colors have thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning they reflect the heat that dark asphalt absorbs. Mayer receives about 3163 sunshine hours annually; that reflection compounds over months and years. Cool Roof Rating Council certification verifies these numbers independently—not manufacturer claims. In summer, reflective colors keep your attic cooler, reducing air-conditioning load; in Minnesota's winters, the slight extra warmth helps prevent ice dams common during the 81 annual freeze-thaw cycles. You're not paying extra for a feel-good story; you're getting measurable thermal performance that your utility bills will show.

Is Interlock more expensive than asphalt, and do I really save money over time?

Interlock typically costs more upfront than asphalt but becomes your last roof purchase. Asphalt fails every 15–25 years in Minnesota's climate; that means tear-off, hauling, and reinstallation—costs that repeat. Our Guardian warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, transferable for 50 years to the next owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, and curling. Over 50 years, one Interlock installation beats three asphalt replacements, plus you avoid landfill fees, labor multiplied, and the disruption of repeated reroofing. A local installer can calculate your break-even point; most Mayer homeowners see it within year 20–25. After that, the roof pays for itself.

What does 'lifetime warranty' actually mean, and why does Interlock's transfer to the next owner?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance for as long as you own the home. When you sell, the next owner gets a one-time transfer good for 50 years from completion. That 50-year transferability reflects Interlock's actual longevity and gives buyers peace of mind in a competitive Carver County real-estate market. Most metal roofs outlive mortgages; ours outlive multiple owners. Unlike 'prorated' warranties that cost you thousands after year 10, ours demands nothing. You're buying a home system that appreciates your next owner's investment, not one that shifts risk to them.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or slate?

Interlock requires virtually no maintenance—no algae treatments, no moss removal, no resealing, no repainting. Asphalt degrades with UV and Minnesota's 748 mm annual rainfall, needing algaecide and eventual replacement. Traditional slate and tile require regular repointing, can crack from impact, and weigh too much for most homes. Aluminum resists all three problems: the Alunar fluorocarbon finish is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, the material self-heals its oxide layer if scratched, and its lightweight design eliminates structural concerns. Occasional gutter cleaning and debris removal are all you'll do. CALGreen verification confirms Interlock's reduced-maintenance profile. That peace of mind compounds over decades.
