What our customers are saying:

★★★★★
Review: November 13, 2017Completion: December 24, 2016

We had vents put on our family room that had no vents and didn't need them because the ceiling inside is directly under the insulated roof. I wish they had asked before they installed the vents. The job was done in the end of December 2016. They left material here on our lawn that would be picked up in spring, which was okay with us. Well, spring came, so we moved the items off the lawn. A strong wind blew the boxes and some of the material around. Again I picked it up and put it just under the roof of a nearby building and called the company. I was told it would be picked up when they were out in our area. The material is still here! Please pick up the leftover material.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Camden Township

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Camden Township, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Camden Township.

How does a metal roof handle Camden Township's 90 cm of annual snow?

Interlock panels shed snow efficiently because aluminum's smooth, interlocking surface resists ice dam formation better than asphalt. With about 120 cm of snow gusts reaching 97 km/h in the region, the four-way interlocking design and light weight (~0.41 lb/sq ft for Slate) mean no structural reinforcement is needed and snow load stress on your home remains minimal. Optional snow guards can be installed if you prefer controlled release. The coating's 30-year durability warranty means winter de-icing agents won't degrade the finish.

Why does freeze-thaw cycling matter for roofing in Carver County?

Camden Township experiences roughly 81 freeze-thaw days per year, which causes conventional materials to expand and contract repeatedly. Aluminum's flexibility and non-corrosive properties mean it won't crack, split, or rot like asphalt, wood, or slate—the very damage most homeowners repair repeatedly. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) has no iron content, so the oxide layer self-heals when scratched by ice or debris. Over a 50-year lifespan, this resilience eliminates the cascading repair costs that freeze-thaw inflicts on conventional materials.

Can a metal roof withstand Camden Township's wind gusts?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph, well above the typical gusts of 97 km/h recorded in the region. The interlocking design distributes lateral stress across the entire roof system rather than relying on fastener strength alone. ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 (reissued 2025) confirms compliance with the International Building Code's wind load requirements. In Carver County's variable climate, this warranty protects you from the most severe seasonal wind events and gives mortgage lenders confidence in your roof's structural integrity.

Does metal roofing rust in Minnesota's climate?

Aluminum roofing cannot rust because aluminum contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes. Instead, aluminum forms a microscopically thin, self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the material underneath. Even if a branch or hail scratches the coating, the oxide reform automatically and the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading) provides a durable secondary barrier. In Carver County's 748 mm of annual rainfall and variable freeze-thaw conditions, this corrosion immunity means your roof won't weaken or leak as traditional materials do.

What hail protection does Interlock roofing offer?

Interlock panels carry the highest impact rating available: UL 2218 Class 4. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches—a threshold most standard roofing materials fail. Many insurance carriers offer discounts for Class 4 metal roofs because they reduce claim frequency and severity. In a region that experiences variable spring weather, this proven impact resistance translates directly to lower insurance costs and peace of mind during severe storms. Request a quote comparison from your insurer once installed.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost vs. asphalt shingles?

Over the roof's full lifespan, metal costs less. Asphalt requires replacement every 15–20 years; Interlock is designed to last 50+ years with a transferable lifetime limited warranty for the original owner and 50 years for the next owner, making it the last roof you buy. Factor in avoided replacement labor, disposal fees, and business disruption across three asphalt cycles, plus no major maintenance beyond occasional cleaning. The non-prorated Guardian Warranty—covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, and impact loss—eliminates the surprise repairs that drain asphalt-roof budgets during freeze-thaw cycles common in Camden Township.

Can I install a metal roof over my existing roof?

Yes, in most cases. Interlock Slate installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft and Tile at ~0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Because aluminum is so light, no structural reinforcement is required and you can install over an existing asphalt roof, saving thousands in tear-off and disposal. The installation process is faster too, reducing labor cost and disruption. A structural engineer's inspection is always recommended, but Interlock's weight advantage means older homes in Camden Township often qualify for retrofit without costly beam or rafter upgrades.

Is metal roofing better for the environment?

Yes. Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end-of-life, so your roof doesn't end up in a landfill. Each Interlock installation also eliminates the tear-off-to-landfill cycle—asphalt shingles removed during reroofing generate tons of waste every 15–20 years. Interlock's lifespan means fewer replacements, fewer tear-offs, and far less material consumed over 50 years. The Alunar coating is energy-efficient in qualifying colors and CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, minimizing the environmental cost of upkeep. In Carver County's 3,163 sunshine hours annually, reflective energy-efficiency colors (up to 0.55 solar reflectance) also reduce cooling demand.

Do metal roofs save on cooling costs?

energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect heat rather than absorb it, lowering cooling demand during warm seasons. The coating achieves thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (e.g., Aged Copper Penny), rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. While Camden Township's mean temperature is 7.9°C and snow covers the roof much of winter, spring and fall thaw periods benefit from heat reflection, reducing HVAC strain when outdoor conditions warm. Over 50 years, this efficiency compounds into measurable utility savings, especially as electricity costs rise.
