What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Victoria
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Victoria, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Victoria.
How does a metal roof handle Victoria's snow and ice buildup?
Metal roofs shed snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface resists accumulation and allows safe melting and drainage. Victoria averages about 95 cm of snow annually with roughly 79 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that crack and degrade asphalt shingles but leave aluminum unaffected. The four-way interlocking panels maintain their structural integrity through repeated freeze-thaw stress, and when paired with snow guards (optional), they prevent dangerous slides while managing the seasonal water load that causes ice dams on conventional roofs.
Will freeze-thaw cycles in Minnesota damage an aluminum metal roof?
No—aluminum's crystalline structure and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating withstand freeze-thaw cycling better than materials that absorb moisture or expand unpredictably. With 79 freeze-thaw days per year and temperatures dropping below freezing, materials like asphalt, wood, and concrete tile experience cumulative stress that causes cracking, curling, and spalling. Aluminum expands and contracts minimally, and the oxide layer that naturally forms on exposed aluminum self-heals when scratched, preventing corrosion pathways. The Guardian Warranty explicitly covers splitting and cracking, reflecting confidence in performance through Minnesota winters.
Why is aluminum roofing better than steel for wet Minnesota climates?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element responsible for rust formation in steel roofing. Instead, aluminum develops an ultrathin oxide layer that protects the metal beneath; when scratched, this layer self-heals automatically. In Victoria's climate, with about 796 mm of annual rainfall and occasional wind gusts to 94 km/h, steel roofing requires paint maintenance and eventually fails as rust spreads beneath coatings. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both panel sides (30-year warranty against fading) provides additional defense, making aluminum roofing ideal for moisture-rich environments where rust would be a constant concern.
Can my existing roof structure support a metal roof, or will I need reinforcement?
Most homes require no structural reinforcement because Interlock metal panels weigh far less than the alternatives. The Cedar Shingle profile installs at approximately 0.41 lb per square foot—so light that the Mediterranean Tile, which replicates heavy ceramic or concrete tile, weighs only about 0.59 lb per square foot (roughly 96% lighter than actual tile). This means you can install directly over existing shingles in most cases, avoiding costly structural upgrades and disposal fees. ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 confirms the installation method; a structural engineer can review your specific framing, but the lightweight design solves the reinforcement problem that prevents most homeowners from choosing traditional tile in Victoria's older neighborhoods.
How well does interlocking metal roofing hold up in Minnesota wind gusts?
The four-way interlocking panel system is warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph, well above Victoria's typical gust speeds of 94 km/h (about 58 mph). The mechanical interlock between adjacent panels distributes wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on fasteners alone, a design validated by UL testing and the Guardian Warranty. Minnesota's variable spring and fall conditions bring sudden wind events, but the panel geometry and overlap design mean weather extremes won't lift or separate rows. Installation to specification—particularly proper fastening patterns—ensures that gusts common in Carver County pose no risk to the roof's integrity.
What's the hail rating on metal roofing, and will it lower my insurance?
Interlock metal roofing holds UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This superior impact resistance often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts because the roof won't develop leaks from hail damage that would destroy asphalt shingles. With Victoria's thunderstorm activity during warmer months and freeze-thaw cycling creating weak spots in traditional roofing, the documented Class 4 rating gives insurers confidence. Contact your agent with the UL 2218 certificate; many carriers recognize this rating as grounds for premium reductions, offsetting part of the roof's cost over its lifetime.
How much maintenance does a metal roof actually require?
Metal roofing requires significantly less maintenance than asphalt, wood, or tile alternatives. There's no annual debris removal, no algae or mold treatment, no flashing repairs from rot, and no replacement of individual damaged shingles after hail or wind. The Alunar-coated aluminum surface resists dirt adhesion and weathering; rain at Victoria's 796 mm annual average naturally cleans the roof. The CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance needs compared to conventional materials. Inspections every five years—checking fasteners and flashings—are prudent but preventive, not corrective. Once installed, a metal roof typically requires only gutter cleaning and snow-guard maintenance, making it the lowest-touch option for homeowners wanting to avoid the cycle of patch repairs that defines asphalt roof ownership.
What's the actual lifespan of a metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?
The Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited material warranty for the original owner—covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance for as long as you own the home. The second owner receives 50 years from completion, making it a true multi-generational roof. With Interlock's manufacturing heritage since 1998 and installations from coastal salt-air environments to an Antarctic research station, real-world evidence shows 25+ year service life as baseline; most roofs easily last 40-50 years with minimal maintenance. Victoria's 79 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 95 cm snow load won't degrade the aluminum or coating (30-year coating warranty against fading), so the lifetime warranty reflects genuine durability, not marketing language.
Is a metal roof fire-safe, and does it have a fire rating?
Aluminum is non-combustible—it cannot ignite or contribute fuel to a fire—and Interlock offers Class A fire classification on specified colors, the highest rating available. This designation meets IBC/IRC building codes confirmed by ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 (reissued 2025), giving you maximum protection and potential insurance recognition. In Minnesota, where wildfire risk is lower than western states but wood-shake roofs carry inherent fire liability, the Class A rating eliminates that exposure entirely. The non-combustible aluminum also simplifies permitting and may lower fire insurance rates; check with your agent. For homeowners in neighborhoods with shared structures or insurance-conscious buyers, a fire-rated metal roof removes one of the last performance questions about roof durability.
Will a metal roof help cool my home and reduce air conditioning costs?
Yes, energy-efficient Interlock colors with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) reflect solar heat that dark asphalt shingles absorb, lowering attic temperatures and cooling load during Victoria's 3,128 annual sunshine hours. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms this performance; the difference is measurable during summer months. Minnesota homeowners typically see modest cooling savings compared to southern climates, but the reflective coating also reduces thermal expansion and contraction stress during the 79 freeze-thaw cycles per year, indirectly extending roof life. Combined with proper attic ventilation, a reflective metal roof addresses both comfort and structural durability in a warming climate.
