What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Lent Township
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Lent Township, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Lent Township.
How does a metal roof handle Minnesota snow loads and ice dams?
Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow efficiently without the ice-dam problems that plague asphalt shingles in freeze-thaw climates. Lent Township averages about 101 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 77 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that crack and curl traditional shingles. The smooth, hard surface of aluminum prevents snow from bonding to the roof, and the lightweight profile (Shingle at just 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural stress from accumulated load. Snow guards can be added if desired for safety. The coating won't degrade from repeated thermal cycling, staying intact through decades of Minnesota winters.
Will freeze-thaw damage hurt my metal roof in Minnesota winters?
No. Aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when exposed to air, and the material contains no iron, so it cannot rust even when ice, salt, and moisture work together. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (warranted 30 years) adds a second shield. With about 77 freeze-thaw days per year and roughly 557 mm of annual rainfall, your roof faces genuine cycling stress—but aluminum handles it better than asphalt, which becomes brittle and cracks, or wood, which splits and rots. The Guardian Warranty specifically covers cracking and splitting, giving you confidence that this material improves with age rather than degrading.
Are metal roofs safe in Minnesota wind and storms?
Yes, firmly. Interlock panels are four-way interlocking and carry a 120 mph wind warranty when installed to specification. Lent Township's typical wind gusts reach about 103 km/h (64 mph), well within the roof's rated capacity. The interlocking system distributes wind pressure across panels rather than concentrating it on fasteners, and because the aluminum is so light (Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft), wind cannot lift it. The system performs even better than heavier materials that can peel upward during gusts. Over 25 years of Minnesota service, you'll see that this design outperforms asphalt in real-world storm conditions.
What happens if hail hits my metal roof?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This is significant for Minnesota homeowners, as it means you're protected from the hail events that can total an asphalt roof or crack slate. The aluminum's hardness actually resists impact better than softer materials; when a hailstone strikes, the metal may dimple slightly but retains its watertight integrity. Many insurance companies offer discounts for Class 4 rated roofs. Over a year with about 3,098 sunshine hours and unpredictable convective weather, this protection translates to genuine peace of mind and potential premium savings.
Can an aluminum roof rust like steel?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Instead, it develops a transparent oxide layer that actually self-heals when scratched—an electrochemical process that occurs naturally whenever fresh aluminum meets air. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides) adds permanent color and protection, warranted 30 years against fading and chalking. In Lent Township's 557 mm annual rainfall and freezing-thaw environment, steel would corrode, particularly if salt or minerals are present. Aluminum's inherent resistance means your roof won't degrade from moisture cycling, and the coating won't require repainting over the decades. This is why Interlock has installed successfully from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station.
What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing?
Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. That means no gradual decline in coverage as the roof ages—a claim is honored the same way in year one as year thirty. The warranty transfers once, giving the next owner 50 years from completion, which significantly enhances your home's resale appeal. Given that Lent Township experiences about 77 freeze-thaw days annually and roughly 101 cm of snow, choosing a roof with genuine lifetime coverage protects you from the degradation that asphalt and wood suffer. This is the last roof you'll buy.
Do I need to reinforce my house to install a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's Shake profile installs at just 0.58 lb/sq ft, and the Mediterranean Tile (the heaviest aesthetic option) is approximately 96% lighter than actual clay or concrete tile. Your existing roof structure has already supported asphalt shingles, which are heavier than metal alternatives. Because aluminum weighs so little, Interlock installs over most existing roofs without tearing off the old layer, saving time and cost. In a climate with 101 cm of annual snow, the light weight is especially valuable—the roof sheds snow cleanly without imposing load stress on framing. This also explains why installation is faster and less disruptive than heavier materials.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?
Metal roofs require far less maintenance than asphalt or wood. Asphalt shingles need regular inspection for curling and splitting (especially after Minnesota's 77 annual freeze-thaw cycles), wood shakes rot and split from moisture, and both require gutter cleaning and treatment to prevent algae and moss. Interlock aluminum roofing is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance—it doesn't rot, doesn't split, doesn't curl, and resists the algae growth that plagues asphalt in wet climates like yours (557 mm rain annually). The Alunar coating is self-cleaning in rain and stands up to 30 years without fading. Gutters still need occasional clearing, but the roof itself will outlast several generations of homeowners with no intervention.
Is metal roofing more expensive than asphalt in the long run?
Metal roofing costs more upfront but becomes cheaper over time. Asphalt shingles typically last 15-20 years in Minnesota's harsh climate, requiring full replacement two or three times in a 50-year period—along with removal and disposal costs. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty and proven durability mean you replace it far less often, if ever. When you factor in re-roofing labor, the disposal of asphalt waste going to landfill, and the energy savings from reflective energy-efficiency coatings that reduce cooling demand during Minnesota's 3,098 annual sunshine hours, the total cost of ownership strongly favors metal. This is the last roof you'll buy, which is why it pays for itself over decades.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Lent Township?
Interlock Metal Roofing has served your region since 2001, bringing over two decades of local experience to every project. The team understands Chisago County's specific weather patterns—heavy snow, freeze-thaw cycling, wind gusts to 103 km/h, and roughly 557 mm of annual rain—and knows which profiles and colors perform best here. Installation follows ICC-ES ESR-1790 specifications (reissued 2025) to ensure your warranty coverage and proper wind/snow performance. Local service means faster response, transparent communication, and accountability within your community. When you work with an installer who's been serving your neighbors for over 20 years, you're investing in proven reliability, not just a product.
