| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!
Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!
To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />
Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!
Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!
Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.
Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.
Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.
My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.
I love my new roof. It looks great and I know the house is in better shape without the heavy deteriorating asphalt shingles. My house is the only one on the block with no snow on the roof, and I can't wait to hear it in the rain
We are delighted with the workmanship and quality of our new roof. It has exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend an Interlock Roof to anyone looking to replace an old roof.
Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Parley
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Parley, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Parley.
Does metal roofing handle Minnesota snow and ice better than asphalt shingles?
Yes. Parley receives about 101 cm of snow annually, and metal's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt, which traps moisture and accelerates freeze-thaw damage. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to handle snow loads, and optional snow guards keep accumulated snow from sliding dangerously. The aluminum's strength at sub-zero temperatures—tested across 77 typical freeze-thaw cycles per year in Le Sueur County—prevents the cracking and curling that shortens asphalt life in cold climates. A metal roof installed correctly ends the annual cycle of ice dam worry.
Will a metal roof crack or fail in Minnesota's freeze-thaw winters?
No. Aluminum has no moisture absorption and no internal expansion or contraction like wood, asphalt, or concrete tile—it simply cannot crack from freeze-thaw cycling. Parley experiences roughly 77 freeze-thaw days per year with temperatures dropping below 6°C, the exact conditions that degrade asphalt and split wood shakes. Interlock's 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy maintains its structural integrity across these extremes indefinitely. The Guardian Warranty explicitly covers cracking and splitting—if it happened, you'd be covered for life as the original owner.
Does aluminum roofing rust in Minnesota's climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. Unlike steel roofing, which requires constant paint maintenance in Minnesota's 557 mm annual rainfall, Interlock aluminum develops a protective oxide layer that self-heals when scratched. The Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating—applied to both sides and warranted 30 years against chalking and fading—adds a second defense. Parley's typical wind gusts of 103 km/h won't expose new aluminum; even if they did, rusting is physically impossible. Your Guardian Warranty covers rust for life, confirming it will never happen.
Can a metal roof handle Parley's winter wind and spring storms?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h)—far beyond Parley's typical gusts of 103 km/h. Each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on fastener strength alone. In Le Sueur County's variable spring weather, that redundancy matters. The ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) confirms the system meets current IBC/IRC building codes. Wind resistance is one reason metal roofs outlast asphalt by decades in northern climates.
Does hail damage a metal roof, and can it lower insurance costs?
Interlock metal achieves UL 2218 Class 4—the highest impact rating available—and the warranty covers hail perforation up to 1.5 inches. Most Minnesota hail falls well below that threshold. Many insurers offer discounts for Class 4 metal roofs because claims are rare and repair costs are minimal (individual panels can be replaced without touching the rest of the roof). With Parley's moderate hail exposure and 101 cm of snow that actually protects the roof during spring storms, metal's impact resistance becomes inexpensive insurance against the rare major hail event. Ask your insurer about discounts when you get a quote.
Is aluminum roofing light enough to install over my existing roof?
Yes. Interlock's Slate profile weighs only 0.41 lb/sq ft, and even the Mediterranean Tile—which replicates the look of concrete or clay tile—weighs just 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than traditional tile. This extraordinary lightness means most homes in Parley can accommodate a new metal roof without structural reinforcement, and installation over existing asphalt is possible, reducing labor and disposal costs. The ICC-ES report (ESR-1790) confirms compliance with building codes when installed per specification. A lighter roof also reduces long-term strain on your home's framing.
Will a metal roof reduce my summer cooling costs in Minnesota?
Interlock's energy-efficient colors achieve solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning they reflect heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your attic. While Parley averages about 3,098 sunshine hours per year—less than southern states—every degree of attic cooling reduces air-conditioning strain and extends compressor life. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms measurable reflectance. In Minnesota's hot July and August, that performance compounds across weeks of peak cooling demand. Over a 50-year roof life, energy savings add real dollars to your return on investment.
What's the warranty on Interlock metal roofing, and does it transfer if I sell?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you as the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers once to the next owner with a 50-year term from completion, adding resale appeal in a market where buyers increasingly value durability. No other roofing material—asphalt, wood, or tile—offers this combination of coverage depth and transferability. For Parley homeowners planning to stay long-term or sell within a generation, that warranty eliminates the risk of surprise roof failure.
How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?
Virtually none. Asphalt requires inspection every 3–5 years, wood shakes need regular staining or coating, and tile is prone to cracking and requires specialist repair. Interlock metal needs only occasional visual inspection and gutter cleaning—the same maintenance any roof requires. The Alunar® 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years) resists dirt and algae buildup even in Parley's ~557 mm annual rainfall. CALGreen-verified testing confirms reduced maintenance burden compared to traditional materials. Over 50 years, that translates to hundreds of dollars saved in labor and materials, not to mention peace of mind during winter storms when you're not worried about ice dams or leaks.
Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?
Yes, over the roof's lifetime. Asphalt costs less initially but lasts 15–25 years in Parley's freeze-thaw cycle (77 days annually) before requiring replacement and landfill disposal. Interlock lasts 50+ years with the Guardian Warranty and is ~95% recyclable, eliminating repeated tear-off cycles. One metal roof spanning 50 years costs less than two or three asphalt roofs when you factor in labor, disposal, and the compound effect of inflation. Energy savings and insurance discounts add further advantage. For most Parley homeowners, metal is the last roof they'll buy—a single, long-term investment that outlasts mortgages and ownership.
