Review: August 20, 2024 Completion: August 13, 2024

From the start to finish, we loved their work and communication. There were no nails, metal bits, or excessive noise. They listened to all questions and addressed our concerns. They were careful to make no promise of a start date that they could not fulfill. The rain this year made it hard to predict! I would do a commercial for them free to endorse their work and product!

Hi Peter, we wanted to convey to you how much we love our new Interlock roof! Several of our neighbors and friends have said they do, too! We love the look of it, and are so impressed with how beautifully finished it is integrated into the flashing materials. The Interlock scheduling staff was great to work with, and we are so happy with Jessie and his Interlock installation team. They are true craftsmen, and part artists! We loved how they treated our home with respect, and were always willing to address any questions we had. We watched as they worked on items until they had them just right; when we asked about some areas of concern multiple members of the installation team converged on the item and came down to explain and even illustrate with photographs how it was addressed. Again, we couldn't be happier and are enjoying our Interlock roof!

To: Peter Brylinke My Interlock Shake style system was installed in June of 2019. We have now had it for an entire year and experienced the roof through all season, climate and weather conditions. Not only do we value the new look of our roof but the performance of the new roof has been exceptional. In the winter we have seen the snow pile up on it only to slide off as soon as the sun warms it enough. We have noticed a difference in the summers also with a cooler house. The roof has met all of our expectations and we are extremely happy with our decision to install this roof. Last summer when the workers were working on the roof, we were so pleased with the time and effort the workmen put into making sure all aspects of our roof were taken care of. They were courteous, hard working, respectful and considerate of our needs as homeowners. Carlos was instrumental in making sure that we were happy with every aspect of the work that was being done. In closing, we are very impressed with our roof and have recommended this same system to many people we know and many people who just " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">walk by and ask about it. We feel that we have made a great decision in putting this system on our home. ">" alt="Minneapolis MN 55409 Interlock Roof" width="2560" height="1920" />

Dear Peter, Thank you for your help with the installation and warranty transfer of our interlock roof. We have since sold our house and had good feedback about our roof from potential buyers. Neighbors loved our new roof and we had people drive by and actually snap pictures of it! You were right that the new roof would help sell our home! Thanks for all your help!

Dear Peter, I had Interlock Roofing install my black slate roof in the fall one year ago, and I couldn’t be happier! My roof still looks like new, and really stands out in my neighborhood. My old asphalt shingle roof was leaking. I had to shovel it every time it snowed because of " title="ice dams" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">ice dams in my older 1950’s house. I have had no issues at all with my new Interlock roof. It was so nice only to have to shovel my driveway this winter and not worry about snow on the roof. It all just slid off in only a few days after each snowfall. Also, the team that you had out to install my roof was exceptional. I was very impressed with the quality of the team that installed my roof. They were all very polite and worked well together as a team. They worked very hard, and got the job done, and completed in less than three days. I’ve never had to have anyone come back to fix or touch anything up. Thank you for the great job the Interlock team did to replace my roof. I would recommend Interlock to anyone needing a new roof without hesitation!

Dear Peter, We remain delighted with our new Interlock roof. It’s now been through 2 Minnesota winters, a hailstorm, and several rain deluges and is still the top-notch performer that you said it would be. Thank you for your and Interlock’s integrity throughout the sale, installation, and service of our roofing project. We remain convinced that Interlock is indeed “the Midwest’s Best Roof”.

Dear Peter, I Wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new Interlock roof. It looks terrific, and I am anticipating that I will never have to roof rake my roof again now that your product has been installed. My house is small, a 3-bedroom rambler, but the visual impact the Interlock roof has added makes it look like a castle! All of the contact I have had with your personnel, from yourself to the lead foreman on the job and the men doing the install was pleasant and professional. The cleanup after the job was done was great and it only took 1-1/2 days for a complete tear-off to complete the installation. Please use this letter as a personal recommendation for your company and your product.

Dear Peter, Installing the Interlock roof on our home has completely transformed and improved our home’s appearance. The installation of the roof along with the greatly improved flashings have made a great difference. Because of that, our stucco was able to match our home so we look like new. An improvement I didn’t expect was the change in temperature of our second floor. Usually unbearable " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hot on a 90-degree day. It’s now 10-15 degree cooler and livable. We also received a sizeable discount on our homeowners’ insurance because of the roof’s resistance to fire. We’re sure that having to “Never roof again” will help us sell our house should that be necessary. Thank you from two satisfied customers.

Review: January 28, 2016 Completion: December 28, 2015

My Interlock ">Shake Style Roof in Aged Copper color was installed between December 21st and December 31st. Snow has covered most of the house and garage since it was installed, so I haven’t been able to enjoy the new look yet, but during the installation and before the snow it was obvious it I going to look great. I am glad I had them put Interlock ">Shakes on my 8ft x 16ft hip-roofed storage shed as well. There are a lot of huge oak trees close to my house and they had caused the heavy cedar hand-split shakes to deteriorate from moss growing on them. I knew I needed a roof that would not have this problem in the future. I am a retired mechanical engineer and had built the house and garage myself. I studied the specs on steel, stone coated steel and several aluminum style shakes, before finally settling on the Interlock product. I believe it will prove to be a good choice. I was very impressed with the quality and design of all the types of flashings, ridge vent, and fasteners that were expertly installed. I truly expect this roof to last and look great for generations. I was also very impressed with the crew who did the work under Juan and Carlos’ direction. They worked tirelessly in some difficult weather conditions and short daylight hours. A number of minor changes were made on the fly with gutters, snow guards and roof penetrations and they were all executed precisely. They were very careful in making sure the roofs were protected overnight, on weekends and during the Christmas holiday. They did a great job of cleaning up the difficult mess made removing the decayed shakes. I guess I won’t know for sure if there are any problems until we get some heavy rains in the spring and summer, but as of now, I would be happy to show the roof and talk to any prospective clients that are considering the Interlock product.

Review: May 21, 2012 Completion: June 30, 2007

Dear Interlock Roofing, We are writing to share with you our experience with you, your employees, and the new roof. We built a brand new home and moved in January 1997. Within a few years, we were experiencing shingles that were curling and being removed by the wind. By the summer of 2007, it was imperative that we re-roof our home. Fortunately, we saw an ad in the local paper for your product. Below are just a few of the benefits we appreciate with the aluminum interlocking roofing shingles: The service and attention to our roofing project by Scott Bohnen from signing the contract to follow-up after the installation. The fact that the workforce followed safety procedures by wearing safety gear (we have a steep roof). Daily attention to our project until it was completed, about one week in total. Aesthetically pleasing roof, with numerous comments by friends and neighbors and those just passing by. EXCELLENT CURB APPEAL! The roof is quieter during rain storms than with regular asphalt shingles. We often have to verify that it is raining by visually looking or going outside. The roof reflects light so that we have experienced reduced air conditioning costs in the summer. In the winter, the heating bill is reduced as well and that may be in part to the aluminum shingle along with the polypropylene lining between the old and new shingles. No matter the reason, our heating and cooling bills are reduced. The fact that the roof is aluminum and it can be recycled at the end of its life expectancy. The 50-year, one time transferable, warranty. We could go on and on but we are very pleased with our roof and thankful that we will never have to re-roof again. Thank you.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Verdi

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Verdi, Minnesota. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Verdi.

Does a metal roof handle Minnesota snow and ice buildup better than asphalt?

Yes—aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt shingles, which trap moisture and freeze. Verdi receives about 97 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 82 freeze-thaw cycles per year; this repeated expansion and contraction causes asphalt to curl and crack, but aluminum's non-corrosive alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24 per ASTM B209) actually strengthens with thermal cycling. Snow guards are available if you want controlled melting, but the metal itself won't deteriorate from the freeze-thaw stress that shortens asphalt roofs by years.

Can aluminum roofing rust like steel roofing does?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes when exposed to moisture. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, self-healing oxide layer that actually protects deeper metal. Over 25+ years of coastal salt-air installations and even Antarctic deployments, Interlock aluminum panels have never rusted through. Your Verdi roof will face roughly 620 mm of rain yearly and significant freeze-thaw stress, but the roofing-grade aluminum alloy and Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against degradation per ASTM D4214) ensure that moisture and winter salt treatments won't compromise the material—unlike steel, which requires constant vigilance.

How does a metal roof survive Minnesota's freeze-thaw cycles?

Metal roofs thrive in freeze-thaw climates because aluminum expands and contracts uniformly without cracking or splitting. Verdi's 82 annual freeze-thaw days and 97 cm of snow create relentless stress on brittle materials like asphalt and clay, which develop micro-fractures that accelerate aging. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to move with thermal cycles; the Guardian warranty explicitly covers cracking, curling, and splitting—conditions that plague conventional roofing in your region. The lighter weight (Slate profile installs at 0.41 lb/sq ft) also means less structural stress during heavy snow load events.

Can I install a metal tile roof over my existing asphalt shingles without reinforcing my roof frame?

Yes—this is one of metal roofing's biggest practical advantages. Interlock's Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, so no structural reinforcement is needed. In Verdi, where you could receive 97 cm of snow plus the weight of your existing asphalt, the ability to install over your current roof—rather than tear it off—saves thousands in labor and disposal while spreading the snow load across a lighter system. The four-way interlocking design distributes forces evenly, and the installation goes directly over your existing deck with standard fasteners.

What makes the Guardian warranty on a metal roof different from a standard asphalt warranty?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—meaning you're never charged a percentage of repair costs based on roof age. It covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance for your entire ownership. When you sell, the next owner receives 50 additional years of coverage, adding resale appeal. Contrast this to asphalt warranties, which are prorated (you pay more as the roof ages) and rarely last beyond 20–25 years—far shorter than Verdi's 82 freeze-thaw days per year and weather stresses would allow. You're essentially buying your last roof.

Will a metal roof stay secure in Minnesota wind and thunderstorm gusts?

Absolutely. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification, and Verdi's typical gusts reach about 96 km/h (60 mph), well within that margin. The four-way interlocking design locks each panel to its neighbors on all sides, creating a unified system rather than individual shingles that lift and flutter. The ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) confirms compliance with IBC/IRC wind load standards. During spring and fall storms common to Le Sueur County, your metal roof won't develop the gaps and lifted seams that expose asphalt roofing to water infiltration.

Does hail damage hurt my metal roof, and can it lower my insurance costs?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 rating means the roof resists damage from impacts that would dent or puncture asphalt, wood, or slate. Many insurers recognize this durability and offer discounts on homeowner policies for metal roofs with Class 4 hail ratings; contact your agent to confirm local programs. Given Verdi's 3,277 annual sunshine hours and occasional severe weather, having a roof that won't require insurance claims for hail impact protects both your premiums and your peace of mind.

Does a metal roof reduce air conditioning costs in summer?

Metal roofing can reduce cooling costs by reflecting rather than absorbing the sun's heat. energy-efficient Interlock colors have thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (in Aged Copper Penny), meaning they bounce heat away instead of storing it like dark asphalt. In Verdi's roughly 3,277 annual sunshine hours, this reflectance difference adds up—air conditioning runs less, and attic temperatures stay cooler even on summer days. Lighter colors and CRRC Cool Roof ratings shift the thermal balance in your favor, lowering your energy bill year after year.

Is metal roofing non-combustible and better for fire safety?

Yes—aluminum is non-combustible and Class A fire-rated when installed to specification, the highest fire classification available. This matters for insurance eligibility, peace of mind, and home safety. Unlike asphalt shingles (which release volatile compounds when heated) or cedar shake (which is inherently flammable), an Interlock aluminum roof won't contribute fuel to a fire, whether from nearby wildfires or house fires. The ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) confirms Class A compliance, and many insurers recognize the reduced fire risk and may adjust your premium accordingly.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood shake?

Metal roofing requires almost no maintenance. Unlike asphalt shingles—which require annual inspections, moss/algae treatment, and gutter clearing to prevent ice dams in Verdi's 97 cm of annual snow—Interlock aluminum sheds debris naturally and resists moss and algae growth. No sealing, no re-coating, no patching. Wood shake demands annual inspections, splitting repairs, fungal treatments, and regular re-staining; asphalt needs similar vigilance. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (30-year warranty against chalking and fading) is factory-applied and stays bonded even through 82 freeze-thaw cycles yearly. You simply let the roof do its job—a dramatic time and cost advantage over 40+ years of ownership.
