Review: April 21, 2004 Completion: December 2, 2003

There is no doubt about it. Our new blue Interlock Roof is exceptional, and the house looks absolutely great. We certainly were very pleased with your installers. Their professional workmanship and the efficiency with which they performed and completed the job were outstanding. They always took the time to remove the excess debris from around the house when they finished the day. It’s very refreshing to know that there are still companies that care enough to do the job right. As we are on a very busy road, we get to see people doing “double takes” to look at our roof. In fact, we gave a brochure to someone up the road from us, and you have since installed a new roof for that person. The overall effect is an excellent advertisement for Interlock! Thank you again for all your efforts; we are so very pleased.

Review: September 30, 2013 Completion: August 25, 2013

We chose Interlock to install a much needed new roof on our 200-year-old farmhouse in Warner, New Hampshire which serves as our year-round vacation getaway. From the moment David showed up to meet with us through the final completion of the project a few weeks ago, we knew that we had made the right decision and that our project was in good hands. We never once felt pressured even though we took longer than expected to complete some preliminary repairs to a porch roof before the project could begin. When we did finally call to say that we had completed our work and were ready to go, they had a work crew on site in less than a week! More amazing is that they completed their work of stripping the old asphalt, installing a plywood deck, and re-roofing a large old house where nothing is truly square in five days and, other than the evidence of a brand new gray slate roof on our house, one would never know that anyone had even been there. The crew left our property cleaner than it was before they arrived. They even cleaned up a pile of roofing debris we had left behind following our re-roofing project. Throughout the project, David and Jennifer, in the office, were always available to answer our questions. From selecting the right roof to arranging to finance, to completing the project in a timely fashion, we could not be happier with the total interlock experience. We are highly satisfied with the result and are already looking forward to having Interlock install a new roof on our adjoining barn in the near future.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Hooksett

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Hooksett, New Hampshire. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Hooksett.

How does a metal roof handle Hooksett's heavy snow load and ice dams?

Aluminum metal roofing sheds snow and ice more effectively than asphalt because its smooth, hard surface doesn't allow ice to grip like granulated shingles do. Hooksett receives about 117 cm of snow annually across roughly 98 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that crack and curl asphalt but don't affect aluminum's non-combustible, non-degrading surface. The four-way interlocking panels eliminate gaps where water can pool and refreeze, and Interlock installs with proper pitch and optional snow guards to control drainage safely. Metal's thermal conductivity actually helps melt snow from underneath on sunny days, even in winter's 3,000 annual sunshine hours.

Why does aluminum roofing stand up better to freeze-thaw cycling than other materials?

Freeze-thaw damage happens when water absorbs into a material, expands when frozen, and cracks it from the inside—but aluminum is impervious to water absorption. With about 98 freeze-thaw days per year in Hooksett and 1,007 mm of annual rainfall, the roofing surface must resist constant wetting and ice formation. Aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, and the Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214) protects against corrosion without absorbing moisture. Unlike wood shake or concrete tile, which develop cracks and splits from expansion and contraction, aluminum simply cycles without degradation.

Can aluminum roofing rust in New Hampshire's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and deteriorates in wet climates. What aluminum does is form a thin, self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the metal underneath, even when scratched. With Hooksett averaging 1,007 mm of rain and 117 cm of snow yearly, moisture exposure is constant, making this advantage significant. Interlock applies Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish to both sides of every panel, adding 30 years of warranty protection against any surface corrosion. Steel roofing, by contrast, requires paint maintenance and will rust if that coating is damaged—a real concern in regions with 107 km/h wind gusts that can abrade surfaces.

Will a metal roof hold up to Hooksett's winter winds and spring storms?

Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification, far exceeding Hooksett's typical gusts of about 107 km/h. The panels interlock four ways—front-to-back and side-to-side—creating a unified system that distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than straining individual fasteners like shingles do. This design is validated by ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790, the building code standard for IBC and IRC compliance. Hooksett's variable spring and winter storms are where metal's mechanical strength shines; the interlocking grip means no wind will lift a panel edge or create the flutter that exposes fasteners to corrosion.

Does metal roofing reduce hail damage and insurance costs?

Yes—Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, the highest available, and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation even from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 rating means the panel resists impact from objects that would dent or crack asphalt, wood, or traditional tile. Many homeowners in hail-prone regions qualify for insurance discounts when they install Class 4-rated roofing, though your specific savings depend on your insurer and policy. With about 3,018 sunshine hours per year in Hooksett, you'll also benefit from the roof's aluminum durability across seasons—no storm-to-storm weakening like asphalt experiences after UV exposure and thermal cycling.

Is metal roofing light enough to install over my existing roof?

Yes—Interlock metal panels are extraordinarily light, with the Mediterranean Tile profile weighing about 0.59 lb/sq ft, roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means most homes can have a new metal roof installed directly over an existing asphalt roof without any structural reinforcement, saving thousands in framing upgrades. Aluminum's light weight (roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 alloy per ASTM B209) is why Interlock has been installed from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station since 1998. In Hooksett, with about 117 cm of snow accumulating each winter, a lighter roof is an asset—the total snow load is distributed across a roof system that doesn't add extra dead weight like slate or tile would.

How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof really need?

Aluminum metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance beyond occasional gutter cleaning, unlike asphalt (which sheds granules and requires sealing), wood shake (which splits and needs treatment), or tile (which cracks and requires replacement). The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, meaning the finish stays true even through Hooksett's 1,007 mm of annual rainfall and freeze-thaw cycling. The aluminum substrate itself never rots, splits, or curls—it simply ages without degradation. Most owners find that a rinse-off with a garden hose after 117 cm of seasonal snow-melt is all that's needed to keep the roof looking new. This low-maintenance profile is why Interlock's design is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance.

What's covered by the Interlock metal roof warranty, and does it transfer to the next owner?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original homeowner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—none of which happen to aluminum. When you sell, the warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, a significant resale advantage. This is honest durability: Interlock has manufactured metal roofing since 1998 in Delta, BC, and the warranty language reflects that proven track record. For Hooksett homeowners facing about 98 freeze-thaw cycles annually and 117 cm of snow, the non-prorated structure means you're not paying replacement costs if the roof performs as designed. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, come with prorated (declining) warranties that phase out after 10-15 years.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Over the roof's full lifespan, metal is typically the least expensive option because you buy it once and keep it forever, while asphalt requires replacement every 15-25 years. An asphalt roof in Hooksett, with 1,007 mm of annual rainfall and 98 freeze-thaw cycles, degrades faster than in stable climates—meaning more frequent replacements. Metal's lifetime limited warranty (non-prorated for the original owner, 50-year transfer term) means zero replacement costs during your ownership. Right now, Interlock Metal Roofing is offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, making the entry cost more manageable. Factor in energy savings from energy-efficient colors (up to 0.55 solar reflectance), potential insurance discounts for Class 4 impact rating, and the resale premium a 50-year transferable warranty creates—the math favors metal.

Is metal roofing fire-rated, and does that matter in Hooksett?

Interlock metal roofing is non-combustible aluminum (no fuel to burn) and available in Class A fire classification, the highest rating. This matters in any wooded or wildland-adjacent area and is increasingly required by insurance carriers and building codes nationwide. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025 for IBC/IRC compliance) validates this non-combustible classification. While Hooksett doesn't sit in a wildfire zone like western states, Class A rating means your roof won't contribute to fire spread and may qualify you for additional insurance discounts. Compared to asphalt (Class C) or wood shake (Class B), the non-combustible aluminum substrate eliminates an entire category of risk, giving you and future owners peace of mind across decades of ownership.
