Review: June 10, 2016Completion: March 1, 2016

I am very disgusted with what happen in terms of what the salesperson told me I was going to get. My neighbor has the same roof and said that he had a good job Interlock was over sold and under delivered in terms of what they promised. I think they could have improved on customer service, follow up, letting the customer know when the start dates change, and the installers should be more prideful in their work. I called back several times about when they were going to start the work. I was told by the contractor that my problems would be forward to the office but no one in the office knew about my problems. I know foresee that I will have issues down the road because it was not put on properly. I think they should do it right the first time and do exactly what they say they will do. Some of my concerns and issues are based on what I have gone through. I don't want anyone else to go through this. I feel that there might be some customers who don't speak up and will just let things slide by and that isn't right. The owner doesn't know what the people are costing his company by the lack of workmanship and quality of work and customer service. When people get this kind of service they will never use that company again. I told Jennifer that they gave me a Mercedes roof but had installers for Ikea install it. My neighbor feels bad for recommending them to me.I work at home and I am most of the time. The last day they completed the job no one told me that it was going to be the last day. I was two hours away when I got the call that it was the last day and they were done and I needed to sign paperwork. He wanted me to walk around the property to look at the work but by the time I got home the sun had already set and I couldn't see anything. I refused to sign off on the work.

I would love to do it, but I can't justify spending that much money. I love the product, but I'd have to win some money to afford it. I like the sales pitch, and the salesman, but it cost too much. They have a unique product, and the design is good.

We are writing to thank your company for the wonderful new roof installation that we have. It is refreshing in today's business world to be able to have a company say and do exactly what is expected of them. Your sales representative, Robert Allen, was very knowledgeable and informative about the product and the installation of it. He was not an aggressive salesman, which we appreciated. The installers were the BEST! Dmitry, Leonid and Danny were the hardest working men we have ever had work on anything that we have ever had done at our house. They worked every moment that they were here, and the most severe conditions. The job was finished in a timely manor. We definitely will recommend your company to our friends.

I’m not sure who to best direct this letter of appreciation to but I’m assuming it will be shared with Interlock officials. As briefly mentioned in an email to you we are thrilled with everything. From our initial deliberations in choosing Interlock to the completion of the project we have been impressed. We have completed many remodeling projects in our home. Replacing a roof certainly would be considered major. To know that we will not need to worry about replacing it is very comforting, not to mention the impressive appearance and worth it has added to our home and neighborhood. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the extraordinary work and work habits of Nazar. Committed, exacting, attention to detail, particular are words that immediately come to mind. His knowledge and work ethic are off the scale – long work days, mindful of what needs doing next (particularly with vagaries of spring weather) are noteworthy. He’s a gem you can absolutely depend on. We await our first major nasty weather event to put this all to test – one that we were very confident about. Thank you once again. It is reassuring to know we will benefit so nicely from the superior workmanship and quality of the roofing products.

My wife and I wanted you to know that we are very pleased with the new Interlock shingle roof recently installed on our twenty year old home. The color matches the rest of our home and the shingles look tremendous. While we knew we needed a new roof and we we looked at a number of different options and contractors, we believed that selecting your company was without a doubt a winner in every respect. We became aware of your product through the website of the ">Metal Roofing Alliance that led us to your company's own web page. Subsequently, we met with Mr. Robert Allen, Regional Marketing Coordinator of New York's Best Roof, Inc., who fully addressed all of our questions and was readily available throughout the process. Installation was also handled in a very professional manner, and we could not ask for better assistance from either Mr. Allen or the installation crew of New York's Best Roof, Inc. We look forward to many happy years under the security of our new aluminum shingle roof, and would gladly recommend your product and the team from New York's Best Roof, Inc. to anyone. We are also very pleased with the energy savings, maintenance free characteristics and environmentally friendly aspects of our new ">aluminum roof.

To: Interlock / New York's Best Roof My husband and I wanted to write to you to let you know how pleased we are with our entire experience working with Interlock. We now have a beautiful new roof and the process was totally professional and first rate. We first learned about Interlock from information received in the mail. However Mr. Robert Allen, our sales coordinator, gave a very thorough, knowledgeable presentation of the roofing product, answering our questions, showing samples and leaving us with written materials we could look over at our leisure. Mr. Allen was always a phone call away to answer our questions, returning our calls if not the same day certainly with a 24-hour period. Once we decided to purchase an Interlock roof, the time frame spelled out in the contract was adhered to. Financing was available and Mr. Patrick Doyle worked very diligently to get us the best rate of interest available to us. Whatever concerns we had were addressed and the paperwork was simple and straightforward. The installment crew was professional, courteous and hardworking. Our roof was done in 2 1/2 days and clean-up was always done at the end of each day. The crew always spoke with my husband in a polite, unobtrusive manner and did whatever it took to make the installation as easy as possible. Now not only do we have a great looking roof with a 50-year " title="warranty" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty, we also bought a great product. The roofing itself creates minimal waste and is recyclable. It reflects the sun in the summer so our air conditioning works more efficiently. In the winter we no longer have to snow rake the roof, the snow melts off automatically. Our house now seems quieter, even our 14 year old son remarked he didn't know it was raining until the rain hit the windows. Our new roof gives our house a more finished look and according to our tax expert, ">metal roofs are tax-deductible! My husband and I can not only say enough positive things about interlock. We would highly recommend their product and company to anyone considering a new roof. Drive by and see the finished product!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Islip Terrace

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Islip Terrace, New York. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Islip Terrace.

Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice buildup in New York winters?

Aluminum metal roofing sheds snow reliably because the smooth, hard surface doesn't trap moisture the way asphalt does. Islip Terrace gets about 55 cm of snow annually across roughly 53 freeze-thaw days per year—the exact cycle that cracks and curls asphalt shingles. Interlock panels are four-way interlocked and install over a solid deck with underlayment, so ice dams form less readily, and snow slides cleanly without pooling. The warranty explicitly covers cracking and curling, which happen to asphalt in your freeze-thaw pattern but won't happen to aluminum. Snow guards are available if you want them.

Why does aluminum not rust like steel roofing, and does it matter in coastal-area conditions?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. When scratched, aluminum naturally forms a protective oxide layer that heals itself—this is chemistry, not a coating trick. Steel roofs rust from the inside out once the finish is breached. In regions near salt air or coastal influence, this distinction matters enormously. Interlock's 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy carries a Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides, warranted 30 years against fading and chalking, and the company has installed panels from salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations. Your rainfall of about 1195 mm per year means frequent moisture exposure; aluminum handles that without corrosion.

How does aluminum roofing hold up to freeze-thaw cycling?

Freeze-thaw cycles stress materials by expanding and contracting with temperature swings. Islip Terrace averages about 53 freeze-thaw days per year—enough to eventually crack asphalt shingles and degrade wood shakes. Aluminum expands and contracts uniformly without trapping water in crevices or developing stress fractures. The four-way interlocking design distributes movement across the panel system rather than loading it on fasteners. The Guardian Warranty covers cracking and curling, reflecting real-world confidence in aluminum's performance in your seasonal pattern. Asphalt shingles in freeze-thaw regions typically need replacement every 15–20 years; aluminum doesn't degrade this way.

Is metal roofing safe in high winds and winter storms?

Interlock's four-way interlocking design locks panels together on all edges, resisting wind uplift far better than traditional nailed-only shingles. The roof is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to spec. Islip Terrace experiences typical daily winds around 24 km/h with gusts recorded to 145 km/h, so gust resistance is practical here. This engineering is verified under ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 (IBC/IRC, reissued 2025) and UL testing standards. Asphalt shingles rely on sealant and fasteners that degrade in UV; the interlocking panel system doesn't.

Does metal roofing get damaged by hail, and can it lower my insurance costs?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. That's real third-party testing, not marketing. Many homeowners see insurance premium reductions or discounts for Class 4-rated roofs because insurers know claims are far less likely. Asphalt shingles typically receive Class 1 or 2 ratings and dent easily; aluminum doesn't dent and doesn't split. With about 1195 mm of annual rainfall and seasonal severity in your region, a roof that won't perforate or require patches is genuinely valuable. Ask your insurer about metal-roof discounts before deciding.

Can my house frame handle a metal roof, or do I need expensive reinforcement?

Interlock's shingle profile installs at about 0.41 lb per square foot—so light that no structural reinforcement is needed. The tile profile, which mimics clay or concrete tile, weighs roughly 0.59 lb/sq ft yet is about 96% lighter than the real thing. Most homes can install Interlock directly over existing asphalt shingles or decking without adding joists or bracing. A professional inspector can always confirm your framing, but lightweight aluminum avoids the $5,000–$15,000 structural upgrades that genuine tile or slate demand. This weight advantage also means easier installation and no disruption to your home's foundation.

How much upkeep does a metal roof really need compared to asphalt or tile?

Asphalt shingles degrade from UV and need patching and sealant renewal every few years; wood shakes split and rot; clay tile cracks in freeze-thaw. Interlock aluminum requires only gutter cleaning and the occasional inspection—no sealing, no patching, no granule loss. The Alunar 70% PVDF finish resists chalking and fading (warranted 30 years, measured by ASTM standards), so the color stays true. Islip Terrace's 1195 mm of annual rain and 53 freeze-thaw days make low-maintenance roofing practical. The Guardian Warranty is rated CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, meaning insurers and appraisers recognize the durability. You essentially buy it, install it, and don't think about it.

Is a metal roof really the last roof I'll buy, or just a more expensive shingle?

The payoff lies in lifespan and repair avoidance. Asphalt lasts 15–20 years and requires ongoing patching; Interlock is warranted for the lifetime of your ownership with no prorated deduction on materials. A transferable 50-year term passes to the next owner, which appraisers and buyers recognize. Over 40–50 years, you'll replace asphalt three or four times; one aluminum roof ends that cycle. The Guardian's lifetime material coverage—rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, loss of impact resistance—caps your risk. Factor in no emergency repairs from ice dams or wind damage, fewer insurance claims, and potential premium reductions (UL 2218 Class 4), and the arithmetic favors metal over that time horizon.

How long does installation take, and can you install metal roofing over my existing roof?

Installation timeline depends on roof size and weather, but metal roofing typically installs faster than asphalt because panels cover more area per piece than shingles do. The four-way interlocking design also means no staggering or complex overlaps. Yes, you can install Interlock directly over existing asphalt, which saves tear-off labor and landfill disposal. The lighter weight—shingle profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft, tile at 0.59—means existing structure handles the load without reinforcement. Interlock Roofing of America has served your region since 2014 and can evaluate your roof during a free inspection to confirm timeline and scope. Avoiding a full tear-off also means your family stays safer and the project completes sooner.

Is metal roofing actually better for the environment than asphalt shingles?

Aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life; asphalt shingles are not and typically end up in landfills. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998, with no virgin material waste in the recycling loop. Replacing asphalt every 15–20 years means multiple tear-offs and landfill loads over your ownership; one lifetime aluminum roof eliminates that cycle. Islip Terrace receives about 1195 mm of rainfall annually, so durability is crucial—a roof that lasts 50+ years without replacement is inherently more sustainable than repeated disposals. The Guardian Warranty is CALGreen-verified, meaning the material meets rigorous environmental standards for reduced maintenance burden and end-of-life responsibility.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Islip Terrace’s climate?

Yes. Islip Terrace averages about 55 cm of snow, 1195 mm of rain, roughly 53 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 145 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
