| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |

What our customers are saying:
I am very disgusted with what happen in terms of what the salesperson told me I was going to get. My neighbor has the same roof and said that he had a good job Interlock was over sold and under delivered in terms of what they promised. I think they could have improved on customer service, follow up, letting the customer know when the start dates change, and the installers should be more prideful in their work. I called back several times about when they were going to start the work. I was told by the contractor that my problems would be forward to the office but no one in the office knew about my problems. I know foresee that I will have issues down the road because it was not put on properly. I think they should do it right the first time and do exactly what they say they will do. Some of my concerns and issues are based on what I have gone through. I don't want anyone else to go through this. I feel that there might be some customers who don't speak up and will just let things slide by and that isn't right. The owner doesn't know what the people are costing his company by the lack of workmanship and quality of work and customer service. When people get this kind of service they will never use that company again. I told Jennifer that they gave me a Mercedes roof but had installers for Ikea install it. My neighbor feels bad for recommending them to me.I work at home and I am most of the time. The last day they completed the job no one told me that it was going to be the last day. I was two hours away when I got the call that it was the last day and they were done and I needed to sign paperwork. He wanted me to walk around the property to look at the work but by the time I got home the sun had already set and I couldn't see anything. I refused to sign off on the work.
I wasted 4 months of my time thinking i will have a beautiful metal roof just to learn that interlock will not be able to do it after all
Interlock Roofing could have improved their communication.
I would love to do it, but I can't justify spending that much money. I love the product, but I'd have to win some money to afford it. I like the sales pitch, and the salesman, but it cost too much. They have a unique product, and the design is good.
We are writing to thank your company for the wonderful new roof installation that we have. It is refreshing in today's business world to be able to have a company say and do exactly what is expected of them. Your sales representative, Robert Allen, was very knowledgeable and informative about the product and the installation of it. He was not an aggressive salesman, which we appreciated. The installers were the BEST! Dmitry, Leonid and Danny were the hardest working men we have ever had work on anything that we have ever had done at our house. They worked every moment that they were here, and the most severe conditions. The job was finished in a timely manor. We definitely will recommend your company to our friends.
I’m not sure who to best direct this letter of appreciation to but I’m assuming it will be shared with Interlock officials. As briefly mentioned in an email to you we are thrilled with everything. From our initial deliberations in choosing Interlock to the completion of the project we have been impressed. We have completed many remodeling projects in our home. Replacing a roof certainly would be considered major. To know that we will not need to worry about replacing it is very comforting, not to mention the impressive appearance and worth it has added to our home and neighborhood. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the extraordinary work and work habits of Nazar. Committed, exacting, attention to detail, particular are words that immediately come to mind. His knowledge and work ethic are off the scale – long work days, mindful of what needs doing next (particularly with vagaries of spring weather) are noteworthy. He’s a gem you can absolutely depend on. We await our first major nasty weather event to put this all to test – one that we were very confident about. Thank you once again. It is reassuring to know we will benefit so nicely from the superior workmanship and quality of the roofing products.
My wife and I wanted you to know that we are very pleased with the new Interlock shingle roof recently installed on our twenty year old home. The color matches the rest of our home and the shingles look tremendous. While we knew we needed a new roof and we we looked at a number of different options and contractors, we believed that selecting your company was without a doubt a winner in every respect. We became aware of your product through the website of the ">Metal Roofing Alliance that led us to your company's own web page. Subsequently, we met with Mr. Robert Allen, Regional Marketing Coordinator of New York's Best Roof, Inc., who fully addressed all of our questions and was readily available throughout the process. Installation was also handled in a very professional manner, and we could not ask for better assistance from either Mr. Allen or the installation crew of New York's Best Roof, Inc. We look forward to many happy years under the security of our new aluminum shingle roof, and would gladly recommend your product and the team from New York's Best Roof, Inc. to anyone. We are also very pleased with the energy savings, maintenance free characteristics and environmentally friendly aspects of our new ">aluminum roof.
To: Interlock / New York's Best Roof My husband and I wanted to write to you to let you know how pleased we are with our entire experience working with Interlock. We now have a beautiful new roof and the process was totally professional and first rate. We first learned about Interlock from information received in the mail. However Mr. Robert Allen, our sales coordinator, gave a very thorough, knowledgeable presentation of the roofing product, answering our questions, showing samples and leaving us with written materials we could look over at our leisure. Mr. Allen was always a phone call away to answer our questions, returning our calls if not the same day certainly with a 24-hour period. Once we decided to purchase an Interlock roof, the time frame spelled out in the contract was adhered to. Financing was available and Mr. Patrick Doyle worked very diligently to get us the best rate of interest available to us. Whatever concerns we had were addressed and the paperwork was simple and straightforward. The installment crew was professional, courteous and hardworking. Our roof was done in 2 1/2 days and clean-up was always done at the end of each day. The crew always spoke with my husband in a polite, unobtrusive manner and did whatever it took to make the installation as easy as possible. Now not only do we have a great looking roof with a 50-year " title="warranty" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">warranty, we also bought a great product. The roofing itself creates minimal waste and is recyclable. It reflects the sun in the summer so our air conditioning works more efficiently. In the winter we no longer have to snow rake the roof, the snow melts off automatically. Our house now seems quieter, even our 14 year old son remarked he didn't know it was raining until the rain hit the windows. Our new roof gives our house a more finished look and according to our tax expert, ">metal roofs are tax-deductible! My husband and I can not only say enough positive things about interlock. We would highly recommend their product and company to anyone considering a new roof. Drive by and see the finished product!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in West Islip
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in West Islip, New York. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in West Islip.
Will a metal roof handle West Islip's freeze-thaw cycles without cracking or degrading?
Yes—aluminum's molecular structure simply doesn't crack under freeze-thaw stress the way asphalt or slate does. West Islip experiences about 58 freeze-thaw days per year, which systematically breaks down shingle bond and causes concrete tile to split. The 3105-H24 aluminum alloy used in Interlock panels expands and contracts uniformly without structural fatigue, and the Alunar® coating (warranted 30 years) doesn't embrittle in cold. Your roof ages by oxidation and UV exposure, not by water absorption and expansion—a fundamental advantage in your climate.
How does an Interlock metal roof perform under West Islip's snow load and ice conditions?
The smooth, hard surface sheds snow cleanly before ice dams form—a critical difference in a region averaging about 55 cm of snow annually. Snow slides off metal before it compresses into ice; on asphalt, it melts at the heated eave, refreezes at the cold edge, and backs up behind the dam. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels lock together so tightly that wind gusts up to 136 km/h won't peel the roof loose or allow ice sheets to lift and leak. Optional snow guards are available if you prefer controlled release for safety.
Can a metal roof rust in a humid coastal climate like West Islip?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes into rust. Instead, a microscopic oxide layer forms naturally on aluminum and self-heals when scratched, protecting the underlying metal permanently. This matters in West Islip because seasonal moisture, rain averaging about 1214 mm yearly, and occasional coastal salt air would corrode steel roofing within 15–20 years. The Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (applied to both sides of every panel) adds a second, independently warranted barrier against corrosion for 30 years. Your roof will never need rust repair.
Does an Interlock metal roof qualify for hail damage coverage or insurance discounts in New York?
Interlock panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This exceptional durability can lower your homeowner's insurance premium; contact your agent with the UL listing (33876) and impact rating. In a region prone to thunderstorm wind gusts of 136 km/h, a non-denting, non-cracking roof is a measurable asset. Many insurers recognize the risk reduction and offer credits that recoup part of the installation cost over time.
What does Interlock's warranty really cover, and how long does it last?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for you—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no dollar cap or percentage reduction as the roof ages. It transfers once to the next owner for a 50-year term from completion, which protects resale value and means your roof won't become a liability to future buyers. This structure exists because aluminum doesn't degrade the way asphalt (which hardens and cracks within 20 years) or wood and concrete tile (which split under freeze-thaw stress) do. You are, in effect, buying your last residential roof.
Is the upfront cost of a metal roof worth it compared to asphalt shingles over time?
Yes, when you account for total lifecycle cost. Asphalt requires replacement every 15–20 years; a metal roof lasts 50+ years, eliminating the tear-off, disposal, and reinstallation cycle 2–3 times in a typical homeownership period. In West Islip, where about 58 freeze-thaw days yearly accelerate asphalt failure and snow loads increase ice-dam-related leaks, you'll replace asphalt sooner. Interlock's aluminum weighs only ~0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft (versus 2.5+ tons for slate or concrete tile), so installation costs are lower and no structural reinforcement is needed. The Guardian Warranty's non-prorated coverage means repair costs stay zero—asphalt roofs face costly patch work by year 10.
Will a metal roof stay secure in West Islip's nor'easters and wind gusts?
Yes. Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. West Islip's typical wind gusts reach about 136 km/h, well within the design envelope. The four-way interlocking system locks each panel to its neighbors on all four edges—wind can't get underneath to peel or lift the roof. Unlike asphalt, where wind tears shingles one at a time, or slate, where wind can crack brittle tiles, the aluminum framework distributes force across the entire roof plane. Installation is quick and secure, with no exposed fasteners that loosen over time.
Can an Interlock metal roof reduce cooling costs during West Islip's warm months?
Yes—energy-efficient colors reflect more solar heat than asphalt absorbs. Interlock panels achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (in Aged Copper Penny), rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. In a region with about 3193 sunshine hours yearly and mean temperatures around 12.5°C, a reflective roof measurably reduces attic temperature and cooling demand. The lighter-colored profiles bounce heat away before it enters your home; asphalt shingles absorb and re-radiate that energy. Over a 50-year lifespan, the cumulative energy savings offset a meaningful portion of the installation premium, especially if you're in a warmer microclimate within West Islip.
Can an Interlock roof be installed over my existing asphalt shingles without removal?
Yes. Because Interlock panels weigh only ~0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—most existing roof structures can support them without reinforcement. This eliminates the cost and landfill impact of tearing off old shingles; the new roof installs directly over your existing deck in a fraction of the time. Interlock Roofing of America, serving West Islip since 2014, can assess your roof's condition and load capacity on-site. The installation is typically completed within a few days, minimizing disruption. Building permits and local code compliance (ESR-1790) are handled by your installer.
How environmentally responsible is an aluminum metal roof compared to asphalt shingles?
Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, and Interlock panels can be melted down and reformed indefinitely without loss of properties. Traditional asphalt roofing, by contrast, is shredded and buried in landfills after each 15–20 year cycle—a pattern that repeats 2–3 times over the lifespan of one metal roof. West Islip's rainfall of about 1214 mm yearly and seasonal moisture mean asphalt replacement intervals compress further due to weather stress. Choosing metal breaks that cycle entirely: your roof lasts 50+ years, requires no tear-off waste, and enters a closed-loop recycling stream when it finally reaches end-of-life. CALGreen verification confirms Interlock's reduced-maintenance, long-life profile supports environmental goals.
