Review: April 20, 2026 Completion: June 20, 2019

We’ve had our roof for about 7 years and have been very pleased with it. Recently, I scheduled gutter cleaning which was complicated by a run of wet weather which makes the roof very slippery. The gutter contractor asked if we had ever considered installing safety anchors. I didn’t know there was such a thing. I called Interlock and Ivan came by to take a look. He quickly determined appropriate locations for the anchors that the gutter cleaners could clip their safety harnesses to and showed me an example of the anchor itself. He also offered to paint them black to make them more inconspicuous on our dark roof. He returned about a week later for the install and afterwards showed us pictures of the anchors from the roof and pointed them out from the ground. Overall very professional, prompt, excellent service.

We love our roof! Interlock was wonderful to work with. Very knowledgable and helpful throughout the whole process. The team that installed were amazing and did amazing work. They cleaned up everything in a timely manner. One feedback I would have is giving more updates on when the project was slated to be started, originally was schedule during our vacation and we didn't know til a few days before we left. Overall we are very please and cant wait to never change our roof again!

Review: July 25, 2024 Completion: May 23, 2024

Interlock was great. The roof is beautiful and the crew was great to work with. Everyone we met with was kind, skilled and knowledgeable. Mike and Damon even helped us work with insurance some due to a tree falling on our house. Interlock made the overwhelming task of getting a full new roof a little less overwhelming, and we appreciate them so much for that.

Review: April 7, 2023 Completion: March 31, 2023

My journey with Interlock Roofing began with an email, phone call and some visits with Damon Isbell who is exceptional. He was able to accomadate all my requests for information, as well as make shanges to the project when I wanted to make changes after the initial process. The people I talked with on the phone or via email were pleasant & knowledgable, as was the installation crew led by Victor. I would recommend these people to anyone looking for a lifetime roof. I'd just like to say Thank You to everyone at Interlock Roofing. Everyone I interacted with was pleasant and knowledgeable.

Review: March 9, 2023 Completion: February 21, 2023

The communication with the salesperson after the sale has been made could have been better, as well as with the installation team prior to the installation. It would have been nice to communicate with the installation manager about the installation before it happened. It would have been nice to have the person in charge check in at some point, and that never happened.

Review: January 9, 2023 Completion: December 22, 2022

Having more than 1 installer throughout the entire project. Art was great and very safe but if there was an accident or fall and he needed immediate treatment it could have been too late before any one found him. I would feel better and more confident about our Interlock roof if we were given some after installation care FAQ's and a reliable/priority email and/or number to call with any issues. As it is now, I'm not sure who to contact for these things and it makes me worry about having invested in an Interlock roof.

Review: November 17, 2022 Completion: September 20, 2022

I am very happy with the roof they installed. They should provide more accurate scheduling because my project was delayed for about nine months. We like the product, and everything was great. However, improving the scheduling and making sure the times are more accurate would be better.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Arlington Heights

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Arlington Heights, Oregon. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Arlington Heights.

How does a metal roof handle Arlington Heights winters with 48 cm of snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice efficiently because the smooth, hard surface prevents water absorption and ice adhesion — critical in a climate averaging 36 freeze-thaw days per year. The lightweight design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement needed, yet the panels are warranted to 120 mph wind resistance, handling the gusts to 116 km/h common in winter storms. Unlike asphalt, which degrades under repeated freeze-thaw stress, aluminum's oxide layer self-heals from weather exposure, maintaining integrity through decades of seasonal cycling.

Why choose aluminum roofing instead of steel if both are metal?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron — the element that oxidizes and corrodes in steel. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the material underneath. Steel requires ongoing paint maintenance and will eventually rust through, especially in wet climates like Arlington Heights, which averages 1468 mm of rain annually. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating on both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading — engineered for salt-air and high-moisture environments.

Will hail damage my metal roof, and can I get an insurance discount?

Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This rating, combined with aluminum's non-combustible Class A fire availability and 120 mph wind warranty, often qualifies homeowners for insurance premium reductions; speak with your insurer about available credits. In hail-prone regions nationwide, metal roofs have demonstrated superior impact resilience compared to asphalt, and the warranty's coverage means you're protected against the rare perforation event.

Is metal roofing worth the price when asphalt costs less upfront?

Over a 50-year horizon, Interlock's lifetime limited, non-prorated Guardian Warranty — transferable to the next owner for 50 years from completion — typically costs less per year than replacing asphalt every 15–20 years. Current financing includes no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, reducing upfront cost. Asphalt tear-offs generate landfill waste and labor; aluminum eliminates that cycle. A homeowner in Arlington Heights avoiding three asphalt replacements, plus tear-off labor and disposal, over the life of one Interlock roof recovers the material cost difference and gains a transferable warranty that buyers value.

Do metal roofs really save energy, or is that marketing?

Interlock's energy-efficient colors with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) reflect heat that asphalt absorbs, reducing cooling loads — measurable in summer months when Arlington Heights averages 2957 sunshine hours per year. Cool Roof Rating Council verification confirms the reflectance rating. In climates with significant seasonal sun and temperature swings (mean 11.5°C with daily-max winds ~15 km/h), reflective metal roofing lowers air-conditioning runtime. The coating is warranted 30 years, so the energy benefit persists without degradation.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood shake?

Aluminum requires virtually no maintenance — no re-coating, no moss treatment, no wood sealing. Asphalt roofs need periodic sealing and are prone to algae in wet climates; wood shake requires fungicide and splits in freeze-thaw cycles like Arlington Heights' average 36 per year. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels and Alunar coating (PVDF fluorocarbon, 30-year warranty) shed debris and resist weathering passively. The material is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. One-time gutter cleaning suffices; no special tools or professional visits required for the roof surface itself.

Can my house handle a metal roof without expensive structural work?

Yes — Interlock aluminum is extraordinarily light. The Slate profile installs at 0.41 lb/sq ft, and even the Mediterranean Tile (the heaviest profile at ~0.59 lb/sq ft) is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Most homes can accept this weight without reinforcement, and Interlock often installs directly over existing roofs, eliminating tear-off labor and cost. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025) confirms code compliance and addresses structural load. A structural engineer may review your home, but lightweight aluminum typically requires none of the costly beam or rafter upgrades that slate or tile demand.

How long does metal roof installation take, and can you install over my old roof?

Installation timeline depends on roof size and complexity; most residential projects complete in 1–3 weeks. Interlock can install over most existing asphalt or wood roofing without tear-off, reducing labor cost and waste — especially valuable when avoiding landfill disposal of asphalt shingles. The four-way interlocking panels fasten directly to the existing deck, and a solid substrate with proper underlayment ensures water-tight performance even under Arlington Heights' 1468 mm annual rainfall. Your local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., serving the region since 1997, can assess your deck during a no-cost estimate.

Is a metal roof fire-resistant in wildfire-prone Oregon?

Interlock aluminum is non-combustible and available with Class A fire classification — the highest rating under building codes. The ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 confirms code compliance for fire performance. Unlike asphalt (which is flammable) or wood shake (which is highly combustible), aluminum will not ignite, spread flame, or contribute fuel to a wildfire or structure fire. In Oregon's fire-risk environment, this non-combustibility also reduces homeowner insurance costs and meets increasingly strict defensible-space roofing codes. The material's durability means this protection persists for the lifetime of the roof.

How does metal roofing handle heavy rain — is it prone to leaks?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels and solid-deck installation with underlayment provide superior water shedding in high-rainfall climates like Arlington Heights (1468 mm annually). The overlapping seams mechanically lock together, preventing water infiltration at panel joints — a common failure point in traditional roofing. Combined with proper slope and flashing, the design exceeds IRC/IBC code standards (ESR-1790). Metal's hard, non-porous surface sheds water faster than asphalt, which absorbs moisture and degrades. When installed to Interlock's specification by a certified installer, metal roofing is demonstrably more leak-resistant than asphalt in sustained heavy rain.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Arlington Heights’s climate?

Yes. Arlington Heights averages about 48 cm of snow, 1468 mm of rain, roughly 36 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 116 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
