Review: June 14, 2025 Completion: May 16, 2025

Long wait on materials, installation was good, but not what I would call great (some dents, some uneven areas). The overall project had the potential to be fantastic (due to the construction of the house) and it fell short of that, but still looks great. Also dissappointed that they could not provide me with a certification letter for the wind, hail, and fire resistance. So installation had no effect on my homeowners insurance. At my previous home in Texas, that was standard for all roofing contractors. See previous comments

Review: May 14, 2025 Completion: November 19, 2024

This is the second review I have ever given. Absolutely couldn’t be happier about our new roof/skylights and the folks I dealt with during the whole process. Begins with the no pressure sales, support staff and ends with the people who did the work. Work was done in November and waited to give this review only because I wanted to see how it handled a Vermont winter and see if any issues came up. No issues, none! Not sure why, but I used a lot less oil this winter (colder and snowier winter than normal). Maybe my 30 years old skylights or something to do with the roof system? If you are on the fence about using Interlock Roofing or the Shake Shingle type of roof, my advice to you would be to get off the fence and pull the trigger!

Review: February 11, 2025 Completion: December 9, 2024

Communications with the office could be improved. Dropping and losing nails and scraps in the snow is understandable but not picking up excess nails dropped while filling nail pouches is not okay. Also as a non smoker cigarette butts on the ground are definitely not okay.

Review: November 21, 2024 Completion: October 29, 2024

We just put an Interlock metal roof on our house. We were very happy with Chris's presentation and and decided to move forward with them. They started when they said they would and the crew worked full days until it was complete. The install manager Paul stopped by multiple times and the crew chief, Nazar was very diligent. We look forward to many years ahead of trouble free living through Vermonts wind, rain, and snow. Thank you Chris, and the office staff.

Review: April 18, 2022 Completion: December 14, 2021

Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value We were looking to replace our shingle roof with a standing seam metal roof for our home in Vermont. We called over ten roofing contractors and received quotes from four of them. I had the best feeling about Interlock Roofing from the beginning, mostly due to my interactions with Mark. Additionally, they were the most competitive on price. Once we committed and signed a contract, we dealt with Jennifer and Paul to coordinate and complete the installation. They were incredibly responsive, and timely, and the entire project was completed in four days. Such a pleasure to work with. The entire process was seamless, and the roof looks phenomenal. Very pleased overall. Service: Roof installation

Review: April 18, 2022 Completion: May 6, 2019

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value Professional, pleasant & responsive staff (Jonathan & Jennifer). The roof is beautiful to look at & highly functional. There was a delay in installation because of VT weather, but that was unavoidable. Jonathan reached out to us after two years to check on us & the roof, which we thought was very considerate & just good business practice. We are very happy with the roof & would recommend Interlock to any of our friends. Service: Roof installation

Review: January 21, 2019 Completion: December 1, 2018

I have two concerns/complaints about my new Interlock roof. A few places along the ridge cap appear raised - instead of being completely straight and level horizontally, there are a few places where two shingles meet in a slightly raised, A-shape. Also there are several places on the porch roof and on the roof between the garage and main house where the shingles are depressed - flattened or "crushed concavely". My guess is it's from being knelt on by the installers and I don't like how it looks. I was told the roof would be installed in October. It wasn't started until November and it wasn't finished until a week before Christmas. The installers endured terribly cold and wet weather and I'm concerned it affected the quality of the installation.

Review: January 13, 2019 Completion: December 22, 2018

Scheduling vs. actual appearance of crew (as above) could have been communicated more clearly. It seems the project was pushed into late December causing my concern as to low temperature (zero \*F) affecting product and installation. So far though, the workmanship and function appears to be at 100%. A few major wind storms since completion had no ill effect, and the intense rain storms have resulted in no penetration into the home. (I could not say that prior to installation!)

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Brookfield

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Brookfield, Vermont. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Brookfield.

How does a metal roof handle heavy snow in Brookfield winters?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels shed snow safely and resist ice dam formation because aluminum's smooth surface and thermal properties prevent the freeze-thaw cycle that traps snow on asphalt. Brookfield receives about 164 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 97 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions that crack and curl asphalt shingles but leave aluminum unaffected. The panels' lightweight design (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) distributes load evenly without structural stress, and optional snow guards keep accumulated snow from sliding unexpectedly. Your roof won't buckle under winter weight as it would with heavy slate or concrete tile.

Why does freeze-thaw cycling damage asphalt but not aluminum roofing?

Asphalt absorbs water and becomes brittle when frozen, then softens and cracks when thawed—Brookfield's 97 annual freeze-thaw cycles accelerate this damage. Aluminum roofing rejects water rather than absorbing it; its oxide layer self-heals when scratched, preventing the cracking cycle that shortens asphalt life to 15–20 years. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years against fading and chalking) adds another defensive layer, so your roof weathers the repeated cold-warm swings that define Brookfield winters without degradation. You're replacing asphalt three times while your aluminum roof stays intact.

Can an aluminum roof rust, or is that only a problem with steel?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes in steel. Instead, aluminum develops a protective oxide layer that seals the surface; if scratched, the layer reforms automatically. This matters in Brookfield's humid, wet climate (about 888 mm of annual rainfall) where moisture and salt-laden air would attack steel relentlessly. Interlock panels use roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) with Alunar coating applied to both sides, so even in regions with coastal salt spray, the material simply cannot corrode. Your roof will outlast your home without rust damage.

Will a metal roof hold up in Brookfield's fall and winter windstorms?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Brookfield's typical gusts reach 105 km/h, well within that safety margin, and the panels' mechanical interlock (not fastener-dependent) means wind cannot peel them apart. The lightweight design (Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft) reduces wind shear, and the interlocking geometry distributes lateral forces across the entire roof system rather than concentrating stress on fasteners. Heavy slate or tile creates more wind resistance and requires stronger framing—aluminum gives you superior storm performance without structural upgrades.

What's the hail rating for metal roofing, and does it matter for insurance?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This superior rating often qualifies homeowners for insurance premium discounts that offset material cost over time. Class 4 means the roof withstands repeated high-velocity impacts without losing function, a standard that asphalt, wood, and lower-rated metal cannot match. In Brookfield's climate with 2900 annual sunshine hours and variable spring and fall weather patterns, having a roof that resists impact damage from any cause brings measurable peace of mind and documented financial benefit when you renew your homeowner policy.

Do reflective metal roofing colors actually lower cooling costs?

Yes—energy-efficient Interlock colors with solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity of 0.84 reflect heat that asphalt absorbs, lowering attic and interior temperatures on Brookfield's 2900 annual sunshine hours. Cool Roof Rating Council verification confirms these properties measurably reduce cooling demand, even in Vermont's temperate climate where summer savings compound over decades. The lighter colors stay cooler to the touch, which also extends coating life by reducing thermal expansion cycles. Combined with the roof's low weight (no added load on HVAC systems), a reflective metal roof costs less to operate and maintain than conventional shingles or heat-absorbing dark materials.

What's the real warranty on a metal roof, and does it transfer to the next owner?

Interlock's Guardian warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. The warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from roof completion, dramatically increasing your home's resale appeal in Brookfield's competitive market. This means you're not just buying a roof; you're buying a transferable pledge that outlasts typical homeownership. The 30-year coating warranty (against chalking and fading, ASTM D4214/D2244 tested) ensures color and finish durability through about 97 freeze-thaw cycles annually and decades of rain and snow. No asphalt, wood, or concrete roof offers comparable protection or inheritance value.

How much upkeep does a metal roof actually need compared to asphalt or wood?

Aluminum requires virtually no maintenance—no annual inspections, no granule replacement, no moss treatment, no caulking renewal. Asphalt shingles need inspection every 2–3 years and gutters cleaned twice annually to prevent ice dam formation in Brookfield's 164 cm winter snowfall. Wood shake requires fungicide treatments, periodic replacement of split boards, and constant moss prevention in areas with 888 mm annual rainfall. Interlock's Alunar coating and non-absorbent surface shed debris, resist algae, and never split or curl. The roof stays intact through freeze-thaw cycles and gusts to 105 km/h without degradation, so you spend weekends with family instead of on a ladder. CALGreen certification confirms the maintenance reduction is real and measurable.

Who installs Interlock metal roofs in Brookfield, and how long have they served this area?

Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served the Brookfield region since 1999, bringing 25+ years of experience with Vermont's climate and local building codes. The company understands Brookfield's snow loads, freeze-thaw extremes, and wind patterns, and performs installations to ICC-ES ESR-1790 specification, ensuring your roof qualifies for the full 120 mph wind warranty and Guardian coverage. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Local service means warranty claims are handled promptly, snow guard installation is done right, and your roofer knows exactly how to flash valleys in a climate that sees 97 freeze-thaw days annually and 164 cm of snow.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over a 50-year lifespan?

Yes—you buy your last roof when you choose Interlock aluminum. Asphalt costs $8,000–12,000 installed and lasts 15–20 years, meaning three or four replacements over 50 years at $24,000–48,000 total (2024 dollars). Metal roofing costs more initially but lasts 50+ years without major repair, transferring its warranty to the next owner and eliminating the tear-off-to-landfill cycle that asphalt creates. Factor in avoided maintenance (no annual moss treatment, no caulk renewal, no ice dam damage), potential insurance discounts from UL 2218 Class 4 rating, and energy savings from energy-efficiency reflectance through 2900 annual sunshine hours—the metal roof pays for itself through operational cost reduction alone. Brookfield's freeze-thaw intensity and 164 cm snowfall accelerate asphalt failure, making aluminum's durability your best financial hedge.
