Review: June 14, 2025 Completion: May 16, 2025

Long wait on materials, installation was good, but not what I would call great (some dents, some uneven areas). The overall project had the potential to be fantastic (due to the construction of the house) and it fell short of that, but still looks great. Also dissappointed that they could not provide me with a certification letter for the wind, hail, and fire resistance. So installation had no effect on my homeowners insurance. At my previous home in Texas, that was standard for all roofing contractors. See previous comments

Review: May 14, 2025 Completion: November 19, 2024

This is the second review I have ever given. Absolutely couldn’t be happier about our new roof/skylights and the folks I dealt with during the whole process. Begins with the no pressure sales, support staff and ends with the people who did the work. Work was done in November and waited to give this review only because I wanted to see how it handled a Vermont winter and see if any issues came up. No issues, none! Not sure why, but I used a lot less oil this winter (colder and snowier winter than normal). Maybe my 30 years old skylights or something to do with the roof system? If you are on the fence about using Interlock Roofing or the Shake Shingle type of roof, my advice to you would be to get off the fence and pull the trigger!

Review: February 11, 2025 Completion: December 9, 2024

Communications with the office could be improved. Dropping and losing nails and scraps in the snow is understandable but not picking up excess nails dropped while filling nail pouches is not okay. Also as a non smoker cigarette butts on the ground are definitely not okay.

Review: November 21, 2024 Completion: October 29, 2024

We just put an Interlock metal roof on our house. We were very happy with Chris's presentation and and decided to move forward with them. They started when they said they would and the crew worked full days until it was complete. The install manager Paul stopped by multiple times and the crew chief, Nazar was very diligent. We look forward to many years ahead of trouble free living through Vermonts wind, rain, and snow. Thank you Chris, and the office staff.

Review: April 18, 2022 Completion: December 14, 2021

Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value We were looking to replace our shingle roof with a standing seam metal roof for our home in Vermont. We called over ten roofing contractors and received quotes from four of them. I had the best feeling about Interlock Roofing from the beginning, mostly due to my interactions with Mark. Additionally, they were the most competitive on price. Once we committed and signed a contract, we dealt with Jennifer and Paul to coordinate and complete the installation. They were incredibly responsive, and timely, and the entire project was completed in four days. Such a pleasure to work with. The entire process was seamless, and the roof looks phenomenal. Very pleased overall. Service: Roof installation

Review: April 18, 2022 Completion: May 6, 2019

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value Professional, pleasant & responsive staff (Jonathan & Jennifer). The roof is beautiful to look at & highly functional. There was a delay in installation because of VT weather, but that was unavoidable. Jonathan reached out to us after two years to check on us & the roof, which we thought was very considerate & just good business practice. We are very happy with the roof & would recommend Interlock to any of our friends. Service: Roof installation

Review: January 21, 2019 Completion: December 1, 2018

I have two concerns/complaints about my new Interlock roof. A few places along the ridge cap appear raised - instead of being completely straight and level horizontally, there are a few places where two shingles meet in a slightly raised, A-shape. Also there are several places on the porch roof and on the roof between the garage and main house where the shingles are depressed - flattened or "crushed concavely". My guess is it's from being knelt on by the installers and I don't like how it looks. I was told the roof would be installed in October. It wasn't started until November and it wasn't finished until a week before Christmas. The installers endured terribly cold and wet weather and I'm concerned it affected the quality of the installation.

Review: January 13, 2019 Completion: December 22, 2018

Scheduling vs. actual appearance of crew (as above) could have been communicated more clearly. It seems the project was pushed into late December causing my concern as to low temperature (zero \*F) affecting product and installation. So far though, the workmanship and function appears to be at 100%. A few major wind storms since completion had no ill effect, and the intense rain storms have resulted in no penetration into the home. (I could not say that prior to installation!)

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Cookville

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Cookville, Vermont. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Cookville.

How does a metal roof handle Cookville's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice efficiently because aluminum conducts heat and the smooth surface prevents ice from bonding as it does to asphalt shingles. Cookville receives about 164 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 97 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions that crack asphalt and wood shingles over time. Aluminum's oxide layer neither splits nor curls, so it remains intact through repeated freezing and thawing. You can add snow guards if you prefer controlled shedding, but the material itself won't degrade from the cycle that fails other roofs in your area.

Why doesn't freeze-thaw damage aluminum the way it damages asphalt or slate?

Aluminum expands and contracts uniformly with temperature swings but does not absorb water into its structure, so ice cannot form inside the material and crack it outward. Asphalt and wood shingles, by contrast, trap moisture that expands when frozen. With 97 freeze-thaw days typical for Cookville and an annual rainfall of about 888 mm, your roof faces constant wet-freeze stress. Interlock's 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 roofing-grade aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is engineered to flex and recover without fatigue. The self-healing oxide layer protects against corrosion during these wet periods, ensuring your roof outlasts materials designed for gentler climates.

Can an older Cookville home support a metal roof without expensive structural work?

Yes. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This exceptional lightness means most existing roofs can support a metal roof installation without reinforcement, even if they currently hold older asphalt shingles or wood shakes. This saves you thousands in structural upgrades. Cookville homes built decades ago can upgrade to a metal roof that looks like traditional tile or slate while actually placing less burden on their framing than the original roof.

Will a metal roof stay secure during Cookville's winter storms?

Absolutely. Interlock's four-way interlocking panel design and the Guardian Warranty guarantee wind resistance up to 120 mph (193 km/h). Cookville's typical gusts reach about 105 km/h, and you'll sleep soundly knowing your roof is warranted well beyond that threshold. The interlocking seams distribute wind loads across the entire assembly rather than concentrating stress at fastener points, the vulnerability of shingle roofs. Winter storms bring both wind and wet snow to your area—the combination that tears loose shingles and lifts flashing. Interlock's proven performance at Antarctic research stations and on coastal salt-air homes demonstrates its ability to hold fast in extreme conditions far harsher than a Vermont winter.

Does Interlock's hail rating matter for homeowners in Orange County?

Yes. Interlock holds UL 2218 Class 4, the highest impact rating available, and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Severe hail is less frequent in Cookville than in plains states, but spring storms do occur, and insurance companies recognize aluminum's documented durability—many offer premium discounts for Class 4 rated roofs. Metal roofing's proven track record and third-party testing give insurers confidence, and that confidence often translates to lower premiums over your roof's lifetime. Ask your agent about hail-impact discounts; the savings may recoup a portion of your installation cost.

How much upkeep does a metal roof actually require in a snowy climate?

A metal roof requires far less maintenance than asphalt, wood, or traditional tile. There is no granule loss, rotting, splitting, or curling—problems that plague shingles and shake roofs in freeze-thaw climates. Cookville's 164 cm of annual snow and 888 mm of rain create conditions where asphalt roofs deteriorate within 15–20 years; wood shakes fail even faster. Interlock roofs need only occasional gutter cleaning and inspection—no costly repairs or replacements. The Alunar® coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance, and the aluminum substrate neither decays nor requires protective treatments. Over a roof's 40+ year lifespan, maintenance savings alone justify the metal choice.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt in the long run?

Yes, particularly in Cookville's harsh climate. Asphalt shingles last 15–20 years in heavy snow and freeze-thaw environments like yours—97 freeze-thaw days annually is punishing. You'll tear off and landfill your asphalt roof twice while a single Interlock roof stands for 40+ years. Multiply labor, disposal, and material costs across two replacement cycles, and metal becomes economical. The Guardian Warranty—lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner—covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and impact loss. Factor in minimal maintenance, no emergency repairs, and a transferable 50-year term that boosts resale value, and the math favors metal decisively. Current financing offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation.

How long does it take to install a metal roof, and can it go over my existing shingles?

Installation typically takes a few days to a week depending on roof size and complexity. Yes, Interlock can install over most existing roofs—your aluminum panels' exceptional lightness (about 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed, and existing shingles often serve as a sound base. A solid deck and underlayment beneath the metal panels eliminate the hollow-drum noise people imagine; your roof will sound and feel like an asphalt installation during rain. Interlock Metal Roofing (New England) Inc. has served your region since 1999, so they understand Cookville's specific conditions, snow loads, and local building codes (ICC-ES ESR-1790). They'll walk you through the timeline and address any questions about your particular home.

Can a reflective metal roof actually reduce cooling costs, even in Vermont winters?

Yes. Interlock offers energy-efficient colors with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny profile). In summer, these coatings reflect the sun's heat rather than absorbing it as asphalt does, lowering air-conditioning load and utility bills. In winter, emissivity helps radiant heat from the home escape, but this is outweighed by the roof's thermal mass and superior wind shedding, which reduce drafts and heat loss around poorly sealed asphalt edges. Cookville receives about 2900 sunshine hours annually—enough to make reflectance meaningful in the shoulder seasons and summer. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms measurable performance, not marketing claims. Energy savings vary by color and home orientation, but they accrue year after year.

Is aluminum roofing really more environmentally responsible than asphalt?

Yes. Interlock panels are approximately 95% recyclable, and the aluminum alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24) can be reclaimed and remelted indefinitely without loss of quality. When your roof finally reaches end of life—decades from now—it enters the aluminum recycling stream, not a landfill. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, are rarely recycled; Cookville's heavy annual snowfall (164 cm) and rainfall (888 mm) accelerate asphalt degradation, forcing tear-off-and-discard cycles every 15–20 years. Over the lifespan of a single Interlock roof, you'll avoid multiple landfill deposits. The material's durability and recyclability break the disposable-roofing cycle and honor Vermont's conservation ethic.
