What our customers are saying:
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
While the roof has the potential to be beautiful and live up to its warrantied years, there are issues that were not corrected. I had a general contractor doing a remodel so they were the primary communicator and overseer of the project. They had their usual companies they use for roofing but I liked the Interlock roof so they went through the steps to get things done through them. I have never been more sorry. My father spent his entire career in the roofing industry…first as a roofer, then sales, then as an inspector. I sent pictures to him of issues to make sure I wasn’t just being finicky and he would wend back reasons why things needed to be corrected. As I tried to say the first thing to Patrick when he finally came out to my house, he scoffed and walked off. I had already gone over everything with my contractor so I left him to go over the rest as I was not going to be treated as such at my home. It didn’t go any better. He swore at my contractor and said none of these things were happening. Then sped off. We have had no resolution and given Interlock is proprietary, we can’t even go to another company to get these items fixed.
This was a disappointing disaster for me. My project was broken in two phases because of the cost. I paid the 88k dollars to complete phase one which is the back side of my home. During the install we had water running into 4 different rooms and they couldn’t get it to stop, at one point he shrugged his shoulders and said I don’t know. There needs to be a project manager onsite weekly checking in and around for a close out walk through.
Ross was a good guy, I wish I could do more business with him in the future.
The one thing that I didn't like was that I felt pressured to buy on the spot. We would rather collect facts from vendors to consider our chooses. We would have never excepted that even if the price had been good because of the pressure to buy.
It was a great experience, but we decided to go with another company.
None Great job n negative comments
Initial communication with staff unreliable. I left messages that were never answered. Too many times the person I needed to speak with was out to lunch and at unusual hours of the day.
The crew was professional, from beginning to end. I would have felt much better about the closing of the project if anyone of the management team had stopped by and walked the project, looking for feedback and observing the finished product. As it is, I found one spot that is right up front over the front door that looks a little off, but nobody followed up, besides this survey, so I let it go. The crew was racing the sunset on Friday night and we never got the chance to review the job together upon completion. I gave high marks in all categories, not wanting to cast a shadow on an overall well done job. Thanks for asking.
Interlock could have improved by being cleaner and by making sure they cleaned up all of the products before they left.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in American Lake
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in American Lake, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in American Lake.
Will an aluminum metal roof hold up to American Lake's freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes—aluminum actually thrives in freeze-thaw environments. Pierce County averages about 46 freeze-thaw days per year, and aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, so it resists the micro-cracking that degrades asphalt and wood shingles during repeated freezing and thawing. The 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 alloy (ASTM B209) has no iron content, so it cannot rust even when exposed to moisture cycling. The Alunar® 70% PVDF coating—applied to both sides and warranted 30 years against chalking—adds another barrier against weather stress. Your roof won't weaken with each winter.
How does a metal roof handle the snow and ice buildup we get here?
American Lake receives about 30 cm of snow annually, and metal roofs manage it better than asphalt because the smooth panel surface sheds snow more readily and resists ice dam formation. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels are guaranteed to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, which means the fastener system holds even under the weight and stress of snow shifting. If ice damming concerns you, snow guards are available to control slide-off safely. The lightweight design—Slate installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—means your home's structure bears minimal added load, and you won't need costly reinforcement like you would with concrete or clay tile.
Can a metal roof keep water out in American Lake's 1,195 mm of annual rainfall?
The four-way interlocking panel design is built for high rainfall—each panel locks to its neighbors on all sides, creating a continuous barrier rather than relying on sealant or overlap alone. Pierce County's 1,195 mm annual rainfall won't penetrate interlocking aluminum when installed to spec. The panels sit on a solid deck with underlayment (same substrate as asphalt roofing), so water that hits the seams drains safely to the gutters. Unlike asphalt, where rain exposure gradually degrades the binder over decades, aluminum is immune to water damage and the oxide layer actually protects against corrosion. Installation over your existing roof is standard, eliminating tear-off exposure to weather.
Are four-way interlocking panels strong enough for Pierce County wind gusts?
Absolutely. American Lake experiences typical daily-max winds around 14 km/h, with gusts recorded to 98 km/h—well within the warranty coverage of 120 mph (193 km/h) for properly installed Interlock panels. The four-way interlocking system locks each panel to its neighbors on all sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. The warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches, indicating the fastener system's robustness. Wind gusts that would lift or separate asphalt shingles simply flex the aluminum—which has no brittle matrix to crack—and the locks hold firm.
Why don't aluminum roofs rust like steel ones, and what's the difference for homes here?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron. The material (3105-H24 / 3003-H24 per ASTM B209) forms a protective oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, so even repeated exposure to Pierce County's 1,195 mm annual rainfall and 30 cm of snow won't trigger corrosion. Steel roofs, by contrast, require protective coatings that wear away over time. The Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish—applied to both sides of every panel and warranted 30 years—adds extra durability in salt-air environments, but the aluminum itself is the real insurance. Once installed, your roof has no rust risk, period.
Can an energy-efficiency metal roof help lower cooling costs in summer?
Yes. energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning they reflect heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your attic. American Lake averages 2,943 sunshine hours per year—plenty of opportunity for solar heat gain—so a reflective metal roof reduces cooling load compared to dark asphalt, which absorbs the majority of incoming radiation. The Cool Roof Rating Council rating confirms the thermal performance. In Pierce County's mild 10.9°C average climate, the energy benefit may be modest compared to hotter regions, but the reflectance still lowers summer temperatures and extends air-conditioner lifespan over the life of the roof.
What is the actual warranty on an Interlock metal roof, and how long will it really last?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, which adds genuine resale value. The Alunar® 70% PVDF coating is separately warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214 / D2244 measured). Interlock has manufactured these panels since 1998 from Delta, BC, and installed them from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station. The material lifespan—before warranty coverage even expires—exceeds 50 years in normal conditions. You're buying your last roof.
Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof installation?
No structural reinforcement is needed. The Interlock Mediterranean Tile profile, though it replicates heavy tile aesthetically, weighs only ~0.59 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This extraordinary light weight means installation typically occurs directly over your existing roof, avoiding a costly tear-off and eliminating days of exposure to Pierce County's average 1,195 mm annual rainfall. Slate installs at 0.41 lb/sq ft, so even multiple profiles add negligible load. Your home's framing supports asphalt shingles (about the same weight per square foot), so it easily handles aluminum. The lightweight design is a concrete advantage in retrofit situations and reduces structural stress over decades of weather, particularly through the region's 46 annual freeze-thaw cycles.
What maintenance does an aluminum metal roof require compared to asphalt or tile?
Aluminum requires virtually no maintenance beyond clearing gutters and inspecting after severe weather. Unlike asphalt shingles—which lose granules, curl, and require periodic repairs or replacement—or concrete tile—which cracks and requires sealing—Interlock aluminum panels are CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. The Alunar® 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years) resists fading and chalking through Pierce County's 2,943 annual sunshine hours and 1,195 mm rainfall without degrading. The panels don't split, curl, or lose structural integrity. Gutters may accumulate pine needles or debris (as they do under any roof), but the roof itself needs no annual sealing, coating reapplication, or shingle replacement. That's a real savings over 50+ years.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt over the life of the roof?
Yes, when you factor in total cost of ownership. An asphalt roof in Pierce County lasts 15–20 years and requires replacement two to three times during a 50-year period—each tear-off and disposal costs money, plus re-roofing labor and materials. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty and 50-year transferable coverage mean you install once. The Alunar® 70% PVDF coating (warranted 30 years) and aluminum's rust-proof, self-healing oxide layer eliminate mid-life repairs that asphalt or wood shakes demand. Energy savings from energy-efficiency reflectance offset some upfront cost over time. Current financing offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation. Viewed as your permanent roof investment, metal costs less over its lifespan than the replacement cycle asphalt demands.
