Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Parkland, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
This is to advise that our Interlock Roofing System was completed on Monday, March 26. We have had many compliments from neighbors and friends on the attractiveness of the roof. And we are very pleased with the finished product. The installers were very efficient and left no debris. The project was completed in just a few days and we are quite confident that we will enjoy not having to worry about our roof as long as we stay in the house. Thank you for providing such a nice product.
In 2004 my wife and I decided to purchase the lifetime Interlock Roof. I was fifty at the time and had been called over to my Father In Laws house several times to clean out his gutters and clean off his roof with a pressure washer. I told my wife I did not want our kids to have to do that for us in our later years. The situation with my in-laws provided the motivation to start the search for a permanent roof. We landed on the Interlock Roof at the Western Washington Fair in 2004. The roof was installed and have not had any problems afterwards. There are some idiosyncrasies with this type of roof: The roof is not made to be walked on When it snows the snow builds up for a 1 to 3-inch amount and then slides off the roof and onto the ground below The roof keeps its original look, never needs to be pressure washed off or any other maintenance. We are very satisfied with the roof and very glad we will never have to purchase another roof again.
We just wanted to let you know how thoroughly-pleased we are with our new Interlock Roof. It is absolutely beautiful and we have had a lot of people stopping as they walk or drive by to admire how nice it looks. Everything progressed on the job exactly as you had shared with us when we signed the contract. There were no surprises. From the beginning when we got the call to set up a start date, to the final clean up and retrieval of the waste bin everything was handled so professionally. Viktor and Alex were a dream to work with-so-pleasant and each day everything was left so tidy that it would have been hard for guests to tell that we were in the middle of a re-roofing job. We will highly recommend your product and doing business with such a professional and obviously well run company.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Parkland
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Parkland, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Parkland.
Will a metal roof handle Parkland's freeze-thaw cycles without cracking or warping?
Yes—aluminum's crystalline structure is immune to freeze-thaw damage that splits wood and concrete. Parkland experiences roughly 46 freeze-thaw days per year across its 10.9°C mean temperature, but aluminum oxide doesn't absorb moisture, so expansion and contraction cycles don't degrade the material. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) used in Interlock panels expands and contracts uniformly without cracking, and the four-way interlocking design accommodates normal movement without fastener pop-through—the primary failure mode in asphalt shingles in this climate.
How does a metal roof perform in Parkland's snow—does it shed properly and prevent ice dams?
Metal roofs shed snow faster than asphalt because aluminum conducts heat from indoor warmth into the roof surface, promoting natural melt and drainage rather than the trapped heat that creates ice dams under shingles. Parkland averages about 30 cm of snow annually, and your roof's smooth metal surface accelerates runoff before ice forms. Optional snow guards can be installed at eaves if you prefer controlled release, preserving gutters and foundation drainage. The lightweight design (Cedar Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no risk of snow load stress that would require structural reinforcement.
With Parkland's heavy rainfall, will a metal roof leak where panels overlap?
Heavy rain in Parkland (averaging about 1195 mm per year) demands a roof that doesn't trap water—metal roofs excel here. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels create a continuous barrier with dual interlocks on all sides, preventing water penetration even under driving rain and gusts to 98 km/h. Combined with a solid deck and underlayment, the system channels water off in seconds rather than allowing it to pool and migrate into sheathing, the way asphalt shingles do. Interlock's ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms compliance with IRC water-resistance standards for your region.
Can Interlock metal roofing withstand Parkland's wind gusts without coming loose?
Yes. Parkland's typical wind gusts reach 98 km/h, well below Interlock's 120 mph (193 km/h) wind-resistance warranty when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking design distributes wind load across all adjacent panels rather than relying on fasteners alone; each panel locks into its neighbors, creating a unified system that resists uplift. Fastening to solid deck or rafters anchors the roof securely. Independent testing and the manufacturer's warranty give you documented assurance that this roof won't lift, twist, or separate during the high-wind events that routinely challenge lighter roofing systems.
Why doesn't aluminum rust, and does that matter in Washington's wet climate?
Aluminum naturally forms a thin, self-healing oxide layer that prevents rust—unlike steel, which requires coating maintenance and eventually corrodes. Pierce County's 1195 mm annual rainfall creates exactly the damp conditions where steel deteriorates; aluminum simply doesn't. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish (warranted 30 years against chalking per ASTM D4214/D2244) protects the oxide layer from UV and environmental stress, but even if the coating scratches, aluminum's oxide reforms within hours, giving you corrosion-free performance for life. This is why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctica since 1998.
How much maintenance does a metal roof require compared to asphalt or wood shake?
Metal roofs require almost none—no algae treatment, no fungicide reapplication, no loose-shingle repairs. Parkland's 2943 annual sunshine hours and frequent moisture create ideal conditions for moss and algae on asphalt, but aluminum's smooth surface and fast-drying properties prevent colonization. Cedar shake demands annual inspection for rot and insect damage; tile requires mortar repointing. Interlock metal simply needs occasional gutter cleaning and a rinse if debris accumulates—that's it. The CALGreen-verified reduced-maintenance rating reflects this reality: no fastener pop-through, no splitting, no curling, no seasonal repairs.
Does a metal roof help reduce cooling costs in Parkland's mild summers?
Yes. energy-efficient Interlock colors achieve thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), reflecting heat that dark asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your attic. Parkland's 2943 annual sunshine hours means even mild summers benefit from reduced cooling load—reflective coatings slow heat gain during the warmest months. Cool Roof Rating Council certification quantifies this advantage: a reflective metal roof stays 15–25°F cooler than asphalt under sun, reducing HVAC runtime and utility costs. Over a 50-year roof life, the energy savings compound significantly.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost if I'm going to stay in my Parkland home 20+ years?
Yes—this is the 'last roof you buy' decision. Asphalt shingles cost less initially but need replacement every 15–20 years, accumulating two or three tear-off-to-landfill cycles over 50 years. Interlock metal carries a lifetime limited, non-prorated warranty for the original owner and remains 95% recyclable at end of life, eliminating waste costs. Current promotion: zero payments and zero interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Over 50 years, the math favors metal: one installation, zero re-roofing, minimal maintenance, and energy savings. For permanent residents, the total cost per year drops well below asphalt's replacement cycle.
What does Interlock's lifetime warranty actually cover, and how transferable is it?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—the major failure modes in roofing. 'Non-prorated' means Interlock covers the full cost of replacement parts, not a declining percentage over time. For the original owner, it's lifetime; if you sell, the next owner receives a one-time transfer with 50 years of coverage from completion date. This dual-owner protection reflects the product's durability: roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum (ASTM B209) and a 30-year Alunar coating warranty (ASTM D4214/D2244) ensure the roof outlasts the warranty period itself.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Parkland, and how experienced are they?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served Pierce County and the Pacific Northwest since 1997—established before Interlock's 1998 manufacturing launch. Local expertise means familiarity with Parkland's 46 annual freeze-thaw days, 1195 mm rain, and 98 km/h wind gusts: conditions that demand proper deck preparation, fastening to solid substrate, and underlayment specification. Your installer understands regional building codes (ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance), permits, and water-management details specific to this climate. Current promotion runs through Spring 2027: zero payments, zero interest, or 10% off installation.
