Review: March 27, 2007

This is to advise that our Interlock Roofing System was completed on Monday, March 26. We have had many compliments from neighbors and friends on the attractiveness of the roof. And we are very pleased with the finished product. The installers were very efficient and left no debris. The project was completed in just a few days and we are quite confident that we will enjoy not having to worry about our roof as long as we stay in the house. Thank you for providing such a nice product.

In 2004 my wife and I decided to purchase the lifetime Interlock Roof. I was fifty at the time and had been called over to my Father In Laws house several times to clean out his gutters and clean off his roof with a pressure washer. I told my wife I did not want our kids to have to do that for us in our later years. The situation with my in-laws provided the motivation to start the search for a permanent roof. We landed on the Interlock Roof at the Western Washington Fair in 2004. The roof was installed and have not had any problems afterwards. There are some idiosyncrasies with this type of roof: The roof is not made to be walked on When it snows the snow builds up for a 1 to 3-inch amount and then slides off the roof and onto the ground below The roof keeps its original look, never needs to be pressure washed off or any other maintenance. We are very satisfied with the roof and very glad we will never have to purchase another roof again.

Review: August 1, 2006

We just wanted to let you know how thoroughly-pleased we are with our new Interlock Roof. It is absolutely beautiful and we have had a lot of people stopping as they walk or drive by to admire how nice it looks. Everything progressed on the job exactly as you had shared with us when we signed the contract. There were no surprises. From the beginning when we got the call to set up a start date, to the final clean up and retrieval of the waste bin everything was handled so professionally. Viktor and Alex were a dream to work with-so-pleasant and each day everything was left so tidy that it would have been hard for guests to tell that we were in the middle of a re-roofing job. We will highly recommend your product and doing business with such a professional and obviously well run company.

I want to thank you for a job well done on my new roof. The work was done on schedule in spite of winter weather, and Brian, your roofer, was very polite and responsive. Several neighbors have called to comment on how nice it looks.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Fife Heights

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Fife Heights, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Fife Heights.

Will a metal roof handle Fife Heights' snow and ice buildup?

Yes — aluminum panels shed snow and ice far better than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface prevents ice dams and allows meltwater to run freely. With roughly 33 cm of snow per year and about 21 freeze-thaw cycles, your roof's ability to manage that transition matters. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels stay watertight through that stress, and the lightweight design means no structural reinforcement even in accumulation events. Snow guards are available if you want to control shedding onto walkways below.

How does a metal roof perform in Pierce County's heavy rainfall?

Fife Heights averages roughly 1280 mm of rain annually, and Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are engineered to shed water instantly — each lock creates a mechanical seal that prevents any horizontal water travel. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms this design meets or exceeds IBC/IRC standards for water resistance. Installation over solid deck and underlayment (often your existing roof) adds another moisture barrier, giving you the same leak protection you'd expect from premium asphalt, but without the degradation asphalt experiences under that much rainfall.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to replacing asphalt every 15–20 years?

Do the math over 50 years: one metal roof installation versus three asphalt replacements, plus tear-off labor and landfill fees each time. Interlock's Guardian warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner, then transferable for 50 years to the next owner — you're buying the last roof, not renting temporary coverage. Add zero maintenance (no moss treatment, no algae cleanup), no structural reinforcement needed, and today's financing offer: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation outright. The math favors metal.

Can my Fife Heights home handle a metal roof without expensive structural work?

Yes, with almost no added expense. Interlock's Slate and Cedar Shingle install at roughly 0.41 lb/sq ft, and the Mediterranean Tile profile — which looks like clay or concrete — weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft (nearly 96% lighter than real tile). Most Pierce County homes can support metal panels over existing asphalt or wood without reinforcement. Your contractor will assess the framing once, but in the vast majority of cases, you install directly over what's already there. That's how Interlock has shipped installations from coastal homes to Antarctic research stations: lightweight engineering, no hidden structural costs.

How will a metal roof hold up to Fife Heights' wind gusts?

Fife Heights sees typical daily winds around 15 km/h with gusts recorded to about 101 km/h — well below the 193 km/h (120 mph) wind speed your Interlock roof is warranted to resist when installed to spec. The four-way interlocking panels create mechanical locks on all four edges, so each panel is secured to its neighbors and the deck, distributing wind load across the entire roof system rather than relying on fasteners alone. That design gives you peace of mind during the Pacific Northwest's windier seasons, and your warranty backs it.

Does hail damage risk matter in Washington, and what's the metal roof advantage?

Hail does occur in Pierce County, and Interlock's panels carry UL 2218 Class 4 — the highest impact rating available — plus warranty coverage for perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 aluminum typically qualifies for insurance discounts because it resists damage that would dent or puncture asphalt or crack tile. Contact your insurer with the UL rating once installed; many carriers recognize the durability and lower claim risk. Over a 50-year lifespan, that's meaningful savings on premiums.

Will an Interlock metal roof reduce my cooling costs in a cooler climate like Fife Heights?

Even with mild summers and about 2931 sunshine hours per year, reflective finishes matter. energy-efficient Interlock colors have thermal emissivity of 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning they bounce heat away rather than absorb it like asphalt does. On the roughly 33 sunny days you get each year, that reflection reduces attic temperature and HVAC load. You won't see dramatic summer cooling bills here, but you will see consistent small savings, plus the roof stays cooler and ages slower than dark asphalt — extending the lifespan across those freeze-thaw cycles.

What maintenance does an Interlock metal roof really need?

None of the maintenance that tile, wood, or asphalt demand. No moss or algae treatment (common in wet Pierce County climates), no resealing of joints, no tar patching, no curling shingles after 15 years. Interlock panels resist the 21 annual freeze-thaw cycles without cracking or splitting because aluminum expands and contracts uniformly and doesn't absorb moisture. Occasional debris clearing from gutters is normal roof care everywhere, but the metal itself stays maintenance-free for decades. That's why CALGreen verification includes reduced maintenance as a sustainability benefit.

What exactly does Interlock's lifetime warranty cover, and for how long?

The Guardian warranty is lifetime limited and non-prorated for the original owner — it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no deductible. It's one-time transferable, giving the next owner a full 50 years of coverage from installation. That's unique in roofing. You're not paying extra for this; it comes standard. It means if a defect appears in year 30 or year 50, Interlock replaces or repairs it at no cost to you, and your buyer gets another half-century. That's the confidence behind a roof made from non-corrosive aluminum and finished with a 30-year color warranty.

Who installs Interlock roofs in Fife Heights, and how long have they been doing this?

Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served Pierce County and the Pacific Northwest since 1997 — they've installed thousands of roofs through wet winters, coastal salt air, and freeze-thaw cycles like yours. They understand local building codes (the roof is ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluated for IBC/IRC), local weather challenges, and how to install over existing structures without surprises. They're offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation right now. Call them for a site inspection and estimate — local experience matters when your roof has to survive 21 freeze-thaw days and 1280 mm of annual rain.
