Review: October 14, 2025Completion: August 31, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: October 9, 2025Completion: August 12, 2025

The installers were not Interlock employees. I assumed they would be and was surprised to learn that they were "piece mealed". They were independent roofing contractors who install many different roof materials and as a result, there were some mistakes made that needed to be corrected after I brought them to the Installer Manager's attention. They also did not speak English well or at all. At times, I was having conversations with the Supervisor through an iPhone translation app. The cost for the job was outrageous in my opinion but then I did sign the contract agreeing to this as I knew much of the cost was to support the warranty and future trips to the house for repairs if needed. In other words, I was paying for a warranty not the cost and reasonable markup for the job. Having paid that, my expectations were high yet I had to get pro actively involved to make sure the job turned out as expected. So in a nutshell, I would be somewhat hesitant recommending Interlock Roofing because of the price and non-English speaking installers. Get your own English speaking roofing employees. Had no idea at the time we signed the contract that you were merely a materials supplier. Attention to details. Got to demand it to get the job done right.

Never have them do business with them. Not honest, transparent. They then tried to take legal action against me. Transparency and being honest. They used subcontractors. They should not be rude and disrespectful to their customers. Patrick should be fired.

Review: August 23, 2025Completion: July 31, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Ayock

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Ayock, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Ayock.

Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice in Lewis County winters?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted for wind speeds up to 120 mph, and the lightweight design (Cedar Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) eliminates snow load strain on your home's frame. Ayock receives about 33 cm of snow annually with roughly 16 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that cause asphalt to crack and curl. Aluminum's oxide layer doesn't degrade in freeze-thaw, and the panels shed ice and snow efficiently due to their smooth, interlocked profiles. Optional snow guards can be added if extra retention is needed for safety.

Will a metal roof leak in Ayock's rainy climate?

No. Ayock averages 1362 mm of rainfall yearly, and Interlock's four-way interlocking panels create overlapping seams that shed water downward—the system is engineered to drain rather than collect. The panels install over solid decking with underlayment, which prevents water bypass at fasteners or seams. ESR-1790 code compliance confirms the design meets IRC/IBC leak requirements, and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation and water intrusion. Proper installation by our local team ensures flashing details handle the region's consistent rain without pooling or saturation risk.

Why choose aluminum roofing instead of steel if both are metal?

Aluminum cannot rust. Steel contains iron, which oxidizes in moisture; aluminum's oxide layer is passive and self-heals when scratched. With 1362 mm annual rainfall and frequent freeze-thaw cycles in Ayock, steel requires ongoing maintenance to prevent rust creep. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum (ASTM B209) with a dual-coat Alunar 70% PVDF finish applied to both panel sides—extra critical in our wet climate. The Guardian Warranty explicitly covers rusting. Aluminum installed in 1998 at Antarctic research stations and coastal salt-air homes proves durability; your roof won't develop the orange streaking or perforation that compromises steel over 20–30 years.

Can my house support a metal roof, or do I need structural upgrades?

No structural upgrades needed. Interlock's Shake profile weighs only 0.58 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or tile—so the load on your framing is negligible. Asphalt shingles weigh roughly 2–3 lb/sq ft; aluminum metal roofing actually reduces dead load. This means the system installs directly over most existing roofs without reinforcement, lowering labor costs and installation time. In Ayock's snow climate (33 cm annually), lighter roofing improves structural efficiency during freeze-thaw stress. ESR-1790 evaluation confirms installation over existing decks on standard residential framing; your roofer will inspect your deck during a site visit.

How much upkeep does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or tile?

Metal requires almost none. Asphalt shingles need moss removal, regular inspections for curl and loss, and repairs after hail or wind gusts (Ayock averages 90 km/h gusts). Concrete tile cracks in freeze-thaw cycles. Aluminum panels are CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance—no algae growth, no debris trapping, no sealant reapplication. Twice-yearly gutter cleaning is standard for any roof. The 30-year Alunar coating warranty (ASTM D4214/D2244 tested) means no color fading or chalking, so you won't repaint. With 2915 annual sunshine hours and natural rainfall, dirt rinses away. The Guardian Warranty covers splitting, cracking, and curling—problems that plague traditional materials in your freeze-thaw zone.

What's the actual lifespan of Interlock metal roofing and what does the warranty cover?

Interlock carries the Guardian Warranty—a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and impact loss. The warranty is one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion. This is the only roof you'll install. Asphalt lasts 15–20 years and requires tear-off disposal (landfill waste); wood shakes split and rot within 20–25 years in Ayock's 1362 mm annual rainfall and 16 freeze-thaw days. Aluminum panels manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC show no degradation after 25+ years. No other roofing material covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches (UL 2218 Class 4) or 120 mph winds for the life of the home.

Does metal roofing save money on heating and cooling?

Metal roofing cuts cooling costs year-round. Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat rather than absorb it—reflectance values up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny) and thermal emissivity 0.84 cool your home in summer. Even in Ayock's moderate 11.6°C mean temperature, the 2915 annual sunshine hours mean reflective roofing reduces HVAC strain during warm months. Asphalt absorbs heat, raising attic temperatures 20–30°F above ambient—a penalty in summer and a burden on air conditioning. Cool Roof Rating Council certification proves the energy benefit. In winter, the same reflective surface won't prevent heat loss, but no roofing system does; the real advantage is summer comfort and lower cooling bills without added maintenance like coatings or sealants.

Will my metal roof blow off in Ayock's wind and gust conditions?

No. Interlock panels are warranted to withstand wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Ayock's typical winds average 16 km/h with gusts recorded to 90 km/h—well within that margin. The four-way interlocking design means each panel locks to its neighbors on all sides, creating a unified system rather than individual shingles. UL testing (UL 2218 Class 4 hail rating also demonstrates structural integrity) confirms uplift resistance. Asphalt shingles blow off at 60–80 mph and degrade faster in wind-driven rain. Our local Interlock installer has served the Pacific Northwest since 1997 and understands regional wind patterns; proper fastening and flashing technique ensures your roof stays put.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Yes, over the life of your home. Asphalt costs $3–5 per square foot installed and lasts 15–20 years; you'll replace it 2–3 times. Metal costs more initially but lasts 50+ years with zero tear-off, no landfill disposal, and no maintenance bills. The Guardian Warranty is lifetime for you and transferable 50 years for the next owner—no other material matches that. Ayock's harsh climate (1362 mm rain, 33 cm snow, 16 freeze-thaw cycles) accelerates asphalt failure; your third roof will arrive while paying off the second. Energy savings from reflective coatings also offset costs in sunny periods. We're currently offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—financing makes metal affordable upfront while you recoup value through longevity and avoided replacements.

Is metal roofing fire-safe for homes in Washington?

Absolutely. Interlock aluminum is non-combustible and achieves Class A fire classification (the highest available per ASTM and UL standards). Aluminum contains no wood fiber or petroleum binders; it cannot ignite or contribute fuel to a fire. ESR-1790 code compliance confirms suitability under IBC/IRC, and the ICC-ES report (reissued 2025) covers residential application throughout Washington. Asphalt shingles are Class C or lower and release flammable gases under high heat. In Ayock's wet climate with 2915 sunshine hours, wildfire risk varies by location, but metal roofing eliminates one variable from your home's defensibility. Combined with Class 4 hail impact rating, the system also resists wind-driven ember penetration better than traditional materials. Your home insurer may offer premium discounts for non-combustible roofing.

Is a metal roof a good choice for Ayock’s climate?

Yes. Ayock averages about 33 cm of snow, 1362 mm of rain, roughly 16 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 90 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
