Still waiting for overhang problem to be resolved since August (7 months) very unexceptionable! Extremely displeased with lack of concern regarding the correction of overhang problem and numerous false promises to repair.

Review: October 20, 2016 Completion: August 26, 2016

We have been enjoying our Interlock roof for several months. The planning, purchasing, and installation experience was everything we expected it to be – superb. The original shingles, paper, and staples were removed. The two installers did these tasks without making a mess in the surrounding garden or the patio. A new waterproof barrier was laid out and the new aluminum shingles were installed. To my pleasant surprise, each one was nailed in with 2 aluminum nails. This gives me confidence that this roof is made to last and is an excellent value for money. The installers worked for 3 consecutive days until the entire roof was done. Site cleanup was done at the end of each day. Some days the 2 installers worked beyond “regular” hours even though it must have been uncomfortable as these were unusually hot days for this area. Now, our house is much cooler in the summer and warmer in the colder weather. We have found it be noisier in heavy rain, but not significantly so. I quite like feeling dry, warm and cozy inside while it is raging outside – we live on a mountain, exposed to the elements. Last year I would go out and count how many shingles had been blown off by the high winds. I don’t need to do that anymore. Our neighbors have given us many compliments regarding our new roof – we are the envy of our small community. Finally, I would recommend Interlock to anyone considering a roof that lasts for many years. The product is outstanding.

Review: October 17, 2023 Completion: September 27, 2023

They did a great job on the roof, and it looks great. There was a little confusing with setting up the payments, but Rene was nice with helping me figure everything out. The system doesn't seem to have what you owe listed on there. We had to look at the invoice to determine things. I think the system could be a little clearer as to what you owe at what time. The little nails are not a huge problem. I used to do roofing when I was younger, and I understand how it works. Everyone was really nice and polite. When they did the installation, they knocked it out quickly before any rain. We did push it to the rainy season, so that was good to have it done quickly. They were really patient and responsive. If I had a question, I got an answer back quickly. I never felt like I was in the dark. This company is very customer orientated.

Review: October 4, 2022 Completion: June 21, 2022

Interlock Roofing is amazing. From the first day I met their salesman to the day they started work on our barn and house. They were very easy to talk to and express our concern about how important it was to keep our hay safe from rain and the ground around the barn safe for the animals. They were fast exceptionally clean and so much fun to get to know. I definitely would recommend this company to anyone who wants to have a roof that will last a life time. Thank you for an amazing job and two beautiful roofs!

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Caples Landing

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Caples Landing, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Caples Landing.

Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice in Caples Landing?

Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to shed snow and resist ice dam formation, which is critical in Cowlitz County where you average about 51 cm of snow annually and experience roughly 24 freeze-thaw cycles per year. The lightweight design (the Slate profile installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural overload even during peak snow load, and the smooth, interlocking seams prevent water from pooling at panel edges where freezing occurs. Snow guards can be added if desired. Unlike asphalt shingles that absorb moisture and degrade under repeated freeze-thaw stress, aluminum's non-porous oxide layer remains stable through every winter cycle.

Will a metal roof hold up to Caples Landing's wind gusts?

Absolutely. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph, well above the typical gusts of 103 km/h recorded in your region. The interlocking design distributes lateral forces across the entire roof system rather than concentrating stress on individual fasteners, which is why the panels maintain their integrity during the region's frequent high-wind events. This mechanical connection, combined with proper installation to spec, delivers the wind performance you need without the loosening and flutter that can occur with overlapped shingle systems over time.

How does metal roofing perform with Caples Landing's heavy rainfall?

Interlock panels shed water by design—the four-way interlocking system creates a continuous mechanical lock that moves water downslope without pooling or lateral seepage, making it exceptionally reliable in Caples Landing's wet climate of approximately 1,500 mm of annual rainfall. Because the panels are aluminum, there is no swelling, warping, or rot at seams like wood-based roofing experiences; the interlocking geometry ensures water always flows down and away. When installed over solid decking with proper underlayment per ESR-1790 specifications, the system performs identically to asphalt in rain events—the difference is that asphalt deteriorates from constant moisture exposure while aluminum's oxide coating self-heals and remains stable for decades.

Why don't aluminum metal roofs rust like steel ones do?

Aluminum contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and creates rust—so rusting is physically impossible. Instead, aluminum naturally develops a thin, transparent oxide layer that actually protects the underlying metal from further corrosion. If scratched, this oxide layer self-heals when exposed to air. Interlock panels use roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) coated with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides, providing additional protection against Caples Landing's marine-influenced moisture and the region's approximately 2,835 annual sunshine hours, which would degrade cheaper coatings. The 30-year coating warranty against chalking and fading confirms this durability in coastal-adjacent climates.

Does metal roofing reduce hail damage and insurance costs?

Metal roofing is rated UL 2218 Class 4—the highest impact classification available—and Interlock's warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This superior impact resistance often qualifies homeowners for insurance discounts, because hail claims are dramatically reduced or eliminated compared to asphalt shingles. In Caples Landing's climate with 51 cm of annual snow and frequent wind gusts up to 103 km/h, hail events can occur, and a single storm can cost thousands in asphalt shingle replacement. Because aluminum panels maintain their integrity under impact, your roof avoids the claim cycle entirely. Contact your insurer about discount eligibility once your roof is installed—many carriers recognize UL 2218 Class 4 ratings as qualifying for premium reductions.

Can a metal roof reduce cooling costs?

Yes. Interlock offers energy-efficient colors with solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny profile) and thermal emissivity of 0.84, meaning the roof reflects rather than absorbs solar heat that asphalt shingles retain and re-radiate into your home. In Caples Landing, with approximately 2,835 annual sunshine hours and a mean temperature of 11.6°C, peak summer cooling loads are moderate, but reflective roofing still delivers measurable savings during warmer months and reduces HVAC strain. The Cool Roof Rating Council certification confirms this performance independently. Over a 50+ year roof lifespan, these incremental cooling savings compound—and you never face the energy loss that occurs when asphalt shingles deteriorate and become less reflective.

What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—essentially every failure mode that affects traditional roofing. It's also one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from project completion, which adds substantial resale value if you ever sell. Unlike prorated warranties that decline year-over-year, this warranty maintains full coverage for your entire ownership. Combined with the 30-year coating warranty against fading and chalking, and the roof's proven durability since 1998 (Interlock has installed roofs from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station), you're protected across every climate stress Caples Landing presents.

What metal roofing styles are available in the Caples Landing area?

Interlock offers five distinct profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, and Standing Seam. Each combines authentic architectural appearance with aluminum's performance benefits. Slate and Cedar Shingle suit traditional Pacific Northwest homes, Shake delivers rustic character, Mediterranean Tile adds warmth to contemporary designs, and Standing Seam provides clean, modern lines. All profiles use the same four-way interlocking aluminum construction and Alunar 70% PVDF coating, so your choice is purely aesthetic—the structural integrity, weather resistance, and warranty coverage are identical. Local installer Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. can show samples and help you choose a profile that matches your home's style and your neighborhood's character.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need?

Far less than asphalt, wood, or clay tile. Aluminum panels don't rot, split, curl, or develop moss and algae growth like asphalt shingles do after years of moisture exposure in Caples Landing's 1,500 mm annual rainfall and 24 freeze-thaw cycles. You simply rinse debris and inspect fasteners annually—a 15-minute task. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, require protective treatments, periodic sealing, granule replacement, and often complete re-roofing within 15–20 years in this climate. The CALGreen verification confirms Interlock's reduced maintenance profile. Your maintenance costs over the roof's 50+ year lifespan are minimal, while asphalt demands ongoing intervention and eventual disposal. The labor and material savings alone justify the metal roof investment.

Is metal roofing worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt?

Yes, when you calculate total cost of ownership over the roof's lifespan. Asphalt typically costs less initially but requires replacement every 15–20 years in Caples Landing's wet, freeze-thaw climate (about 51 cm snow, 1,500 mm rain, 24 freeze-thaw days annually). A metal roof installed today will outlast 2–3 asphalt replacements, eliminating the labor, disposal fees, and living disruption of tear-offs. The Guardian Warranty's lifetime coverage for the original owner, plus the 50-year transferable term, adds resale value most asphalt cannot match. Current promotion: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. Over 50 years, the metal roof becomes the last roof you buy, making it the most economical choice when you factor in avoided replacements, minimal maintenance, and potential energy savings.
