What our customers are saying:
We have been enjoying our Interlock roof for several months. The planning, purchasing, and installation experience was everything we expected it to be – superb. The original shingles, paper, and staples were removed. The two installers did these tasks without making a mess in the surrounding garden or the patio. A new waterproof barrier was laid out and the new aluminum shingles were installed. To my pleasant surprise, each one was nailed in with 2 aluminum nails. This gives me confidence that this roof is made to last and is an excellent value for money. The installers worked for 3 consecutive days until the entire roof was done. Site cleanup was done at the end of each day. Some days the 2 installers worked beyond “regular” hours even though it must have been uncomfortable as these were unusually hot days for this area. Now, our house is much cooler in the summer and warmer in the colder weather. We have found it be noisier in heavy rain, but not significantly so. I quite like feeling dry, warm and cozy inside while it is raging outside – we live on a mountain, exposed to the elements. Last year I would go out and count how many shingles had been blown off by the high winds. I don’t need to do that anymore. Our neighbors have given us many compliments regarding our new roof – we are the envy of our small community. Finally, I would recommend Interlock to anyone considering a roof that lasts for many years. The product is outstanding.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Pigeon Springs
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Pigeon Springs, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Pigeon Springs.
How does a metal roof handle Pigeon Springs' heavy snow and ice buildup?
Metal roofs shed snow and ice effectively because their smooth, hard surface prevents the bonding that creates dangerous dams on asphalt. With about 120 cm of snow annually and roughly 22 freeze-thaw cycles per year, your roof experiences constant expansion and contraction; aluminum's flexibility resists the cracking and curling that wood and asphalt suffer under these swings. Four-way interlocking panels remain watertight through repeated wetting and freezing. Optional snow guards hold snow in place if you prefer gradual melt or need to protect plants below. The lightweight aluminum (Shingle at just 0.41 lb/sq ft) won't strain your structure even when snow accumulates, and the slick surface naturally sheds ice faster than rougher materials.
Can a metal roof handle Pigeon Springs' 2,000+ mm of annual rainfall without leaking?
Yes, because the four-way interlocking panel design sheds water before it can seep into seams or fastener holes. With roughly 2,163 mm of rain per year—more than twice the national average—your roof needs a system that moves water off rather than hoping sealants stay watertight forever. The interlocking overlap creates a labyrinth that channels water down and away, while the slight slope required for any roof (even metal) ensures rapid runoff. Each panel locks to its neighbors on all four edges, eliminating the side-seam vulnerability of standing-seam roofs. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms the design meets IBC/IRC standards for water resistance in high-precipitation zones.
Will an Interlock metal roof stay secure during Pigeon Springs' wind storms?
The four-way interlocking panel system is warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph, and Pigeon Springs' typical gusts reach about 115 km/h (71 mph), well below that threshold. The interlocking mechanism locks each panel to its neighbors on all four sides—top, bottom, left, and right—creating a unified system rather than individual fastened sheets. This distribution of load makes the roof far more resistant to uplift than fastener-dependent designs. UL wind-uplift testing and field performance in the Pacific Northwest's notorious windstorms confirm the design holds fast. Even in occasional severe weather, the warranty covers wind damage, giving you recourse if the unexpected occurs.
Why doesn't an aluminum metal roof rust like steel roofing does in wet climates?
Aluminum cannot rust because it has no iron; it instead develops a microscopically thin, self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal beneath. Even in salt-air environments (Interlock panels have been installed from coastal homes to Antarctica), aluminum remains impervious to the corrosion that destroys steel roofs. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating adds 30 years of warranted protection against any degradation of that oxide layer, measured by ASTM D4214 and D2244 standards. Pigeon Springs' wet climate—2,163 mm of rain yearly plus 22 freeze-thaw cycles—creates ideal conditions for rust to attack steel, but aluminum thrives in exactly these conditions. A properly installed aluminum roof will outlast the structure it protects without ever needing rust treatment or replacement.
Does hail damage matter for metal roofing in this area, and can it lower my insurance costs?
Hail matters everywhere, and Interlock's UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—demonstrates resistance to hailstones up to 1.5 inches. The warranty even covers perforation from hail at that size, so you're protected not just against dents but against the holes that cause leaks. Many insurers recognize this and offer discounts for Class 4-rated metal roofs because the loss history is dramatically lower than asphalt. While Pigeon Springs doesn't typically experience extreme hail, the combination of wet weather and hard impacts from occasional hail events makes impact resistance genuinely valuable. Discuss this UL 2218 Class 4 rating with your insurer when you quote the job—the premium savings often cover a meaningful portion of the installation cost.
Can my house support a metal roof, or will I need expensive structural reinforcement?
Most homes don't need reinforcement because Interlock's aluminum is extraordinarily light—the Slate and Cedar Shingle profiles weigh about 0.41 lb/sq ft, while even the Mediterranean Tile profile is approximately 96% lighter than real ceramic or concrete tile. For perspective, a 2,000 sq ft slate tile roof weighs roughly 18 tons; the same footprint in Interlock Tile weighs less than 700 pounds. Your existing structure was engineered to handle your current roofing material, and metal roofing typically weighs the same or significantly less, meaning no reinforcement is needed and no costly structural upgrades. This lightness also means Interlock installs over most existing roofs without tear-off, saving time and landfill waste.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood shake?
Metal roofs need far less maintenance than asphalt or wood. Asphalt shingles require inspection after every storm, gutter cleaning several times yearly (especially in wet climates like Pigeon Springs with 2,163 mm annual rain), and eventual replacement every 20–25 years. Wood shake splits, curls, and rots in freeze-thaw cycles—Pigeon Springs averages 22 per year—requiring ongoing repairs. Interlock's aluminum resists splitting, rotting, cracking, and curling; the Alunar coating resists fading and chalking for 30 years. Your main maintenance task is keeping gutters clear and checking flashing after severe weather. CALGreen verification confirms the design qualifies as reduced-maintenance under California sustainability standards, a benchmark adopted across the Pacific Northwest. Over 30 years, you'll spend a fraction of what traditional roofing demands.
What's the actual lifespan of an Interlock metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?
The Guardian Warranty offers a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty to the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—with no expiration date as long as you own the home. The warranty is one-time transferable, extending 50 years from completion for the next owner, giving future buyers enormous peace of mind. Aluminum itself is inherently stable; combined with the 30-year Alunar coating warranty and field performance from roofs installed since 1998, a properly maintained Interlock roof easily exceeds 50 years of active service. In Pigeon Springs' wet climate with its 22 annual freeze-thaw cycles, traditional roofing fails much sooner; aluminum's flexibility through these cycles is a genuine advantage that translates directly to decades of additional lifespan.
Is aluminum roofing actually more environmentally responsible than asphalt shingles?
Yes—aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, whereas asphalt shingles are not; roughly 11 million tons of asphalt roofing ends up in landfills annually in North America. Interlock panels manufactured in Delta, BC since 1998 eliminate the tear-off-to-landfill cycle because the material can be recycled into new aluminum products indefinitely without degradation. The lightweight aluminum (even the Tile profile is 96% lighter than real tile) requires no structural reinforcement, so your existing roof decking stays in place—no waste, no added material. Because Interlock roofs last 50+ years versus 20–25 years for asphalt, you buy fewer roofs over your home's lifetime, reducing mining, manufacturing, and transportation emissions. Over Pigeon Springs' 2,764 annual sunshine hours and 2,163 mm of rain, a single Interlock roof eliminates the environmental cost of 2–3 asphalt replacements.
What's the installation timeline, and can you install over my existing roof?
Installation typically takes 3–7 days depending on roof size and complexity; labor efficiency is high because panels interlock and fasten quickly, with no need for multiple layers of felt, ice shield, or complex flashing. Yes, you can install over most existing roofs—asphalt shingles, wood, even single-ply membranes—because Interlock's lightweight design (Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft, Tile at just 0.59 lb/sq ft) doesn't require structural reinforcement. This means no tear-off costs, no disposal fees, and no job site mess. The existing roof provides an underlayment layer. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the region since 1997 and handles permitting and inspections as part of the service. ICC-ES ESR-1790 compliance ensures the installation meets all IBC/IRC code requirements, so your permit approval is straightforward.
