| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
I am totally pleased with my decision over 10 years ago to go with a 50 year Interlock Metal Roof! It has held up great to the test of time and when I am no longer on this mortal coil, my daughter, granddaughters or grandson will be benefitting from my decision!
Our Interlock Roof has now been installed three weeks and we couldn't be more pleased. Suffice to say we haven't yet experienced the winds and rains of winter, but we are enjoying a much cooler home interior, as advertised. Certainly the compliments we have been receiving from neighbors and passersby have been most positive and rewarding. Our cul-de-sac has five homes, each with a different roof; " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">shake, tile, wood shingle, comp, and Interlock Aluminum, and needless to say which one stands out the most. Several have even asked if it's a "" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">slate roof. We've had so many ask about it that I now carry three of the shake shingles around in my car to show people we visit what InterlLock is all about. Needless to say we've become quite an expert at "locking" them together. The installation process was most impressive. We had two neighborhood homes, receive "comp" roofs while ours was being installed. They took about 3 days each to complete. Your installation team of Alex and Viktor Drigailo were here 11 days and what a pleasure and experience it was to observe their work. Just watching the time and care they exercised was sufficient to all that Interlock was a "different" roof. Their work ethic was something to behold and it was indeed our pleasure to have them with us for that period. We've even taken their photographs to remember them by. Thank you all for making our new Interlock roof possible.
We had the Interlock Roof put on our home this month and I am satisfied with the look and performance of the roof so far. The crew completed the roof in a timely fashion, and was very professional! Our neighbors have paid us compliments about the roof. I really look forward to the longevity of the roof. The temperature the week following the installation was in the 80’s, and the roof kept the temperature inside our house at 75. We did not have to run the air conditioning until we reached the 90’s. The temperature inside our garage was approximately 20 degrees cooler than before the roof. To anyone looking to replace his or her roof, I would recommend the Interlock Roofing System!
We would like to commend Interlock for your product and service. Our house is 1572 square foot ranch style home. It took two days to install the new roof. No mess no waste. The installation crew was very polite and professional. They didn’t mind me supervising (watching) or asking questions. Interlock Roofing works as advertised. We have had a wide variety of weather in the last 50 days, heavy rain, " data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">hail, and eighty-degree temperatures. I believe that the Interlock roof system makes my Leaf Guard gutters more efficient in shedding the rain than the old asphalt shingles. We didn’t know it was hailing until we looked out the windows. The house is cooler with this roof on, it does reflect the heat. It is a great long-term investment.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Fobes Hill
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Fobes Hill, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Fobes Hill.
Does metal roofing handle heavy snow well, and what about ice dams in Fobes Hill winters?
Metal roofing performs exceptionally in snow climates because the smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice rather than trapping moisture like asphalt. Fobes Hill receives about 52 cm of snow annually with roughly 58 freeze-thaw cycles per year—exactly the conditions where ice dams and moisture penetration damage asphalt roofs. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind gusts up to 120 mph, so they handle heavy snow load plus wind equally well. The lightweight design (Shingle profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement needed, and the low-thermal-expansion aluminum prevents the buckling and lifting that occurs with heavier materials.
How does aluminum roofing react to freeze-thaw cycling?
Aluminum is inherently stable through freeze-thaw cycles because it expands and contracts minimally—far less than asphalt, wood, or clay tile. Your region experiences about 58 freeze-thaw days per year, which is precisely where brittle materials crack and curl. Interlock aluminum won't split, crack, or curl; The Guardian Warranty explicitly covers these failures. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating is applied to both sides of every panel and is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, so repeated temperature swings don't degrade the finish. With 2907 annual sunshine hours, the coating's reflectance (up to 0.55 on Aged Copper Penny) also reduces thermal stress by rejecting rather than absorbing heat.
With 1400 mm of rain per year in Fobes Hill, how does metal roofing prevent leaks?
Interlock's four-way interlocking panels create a sealed, overlapped surface that sheds water rather than absorbing it—critical for a region averaging 1372 mm of annual rainfall. Each panel locks to its neighbors on four sides, so water flows down and off before it reaches seams. The system is code-compliant per ICC-ES ESR-1790 (reissued 2025 for IBC/IRC) and installs over solid decking with underlayment, exactly like asphalt—the seal is proven by installations from coastal British Columbia to Antarctica. The lightweight profile also means it can install directly over your existing roof in most cases, eliminating the tear-off that creates temporary leak exposure.
Is metal roofing prone to rust? Why do some last and some don't?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, it forms a self-healing oxide layer that protects against corrosion indefinitely. Steel roofs rust because iron oxidizes in moisture. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209), and applies Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating to both sides—extra protection in wet, coastal-influenced climates like Fobes Hill. Even if the coating is scratched, the oxide layer re-forms automatically. The Guardian Warranty covers rusting for the original owner's lifetime, and transfers 50 years to the next owner, because aluminum simply doesn't rust. This is why Interlock installs in salt-air coastal homes and harsh Antarctic conditions.
How well does metal roofing perform in Fobes Hill wind and storms?
Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph and handles your region's typical gusts (about 96 km/h, or 60 mph) easily. The four-way interlocking panel design locks each sheet to its neighbors on all four sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than allowing individual panels to lift. Fobes Hill's mean daily-max winds of about 14 km/h are well within the design margin. The lightweight aluminum (Shingle at 0.41 lb/sq ft) actually helps wind performance because there's less mass for wind to act on, and the panels flex slightly rather than crack. When installed to specification, the warranty covers wind damage up to 120 mph.
Can my existing roof structure handle a metal roof, or do I need reinforcement?
No structural reinforcement is needed for Interlock metal roofing because aluminum is extraordinarily light. The Slate and Cedar Shingle profiles install at roughly 0.41 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than the concrete or clay tile they replicate. Even the heavier Mediterranean Tile profile is only 0.59 lb/sq ft. Most homes' roof structures were engineered to carry much heavier materials (asphalt at 2–3 lb/sq ft, or traditional tile at 10+ lb/sq ft). Interlock installs directly over your existing deck in most cases, saving the cost and disruption of tear-off and structural work. This lightweight advantage is why Interlock has installations from coastal homes to an Antarctic research station, where structural capacity varies widely.
Does a metal roof save money on heating and cooling in this climate?
energy-efficient colors on Interlock roofing reflect heat rather than absorb it, lowering cooling costs year-round. The thermal emissivity reaches 0.84 and solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), meaning less of the sun's heat transfers into your home compared to dark asphalt. Over 2907 sunshine hours annually in Fobes Hill, this compounds. Cool Roof Rating Council certification means third-party verification of these reflective properties. Combined with lightweight installation and no tear-off waste, the energy savings reduce both your utility bills and carbon footprint. The reflective coating also reduces thermal stress on the panels themselves, contributing to the 30-year warranty on finish durability.
How much maintenance does metal roofing really need compared to asphalt or tile?
Metal roofing requires far less maintenance than asphalt, wood, or tile. Asphalt granules shed, algae grows in wet climates like Fobes Hill (1372 mm rain, 58 freeze-thaw days), and shingles curl or crack. Wood splits and rots. Tile cracks and breaks. Interlock aluminum has no granules to shed, won't rot or split, and is non-porous so algae can't take hold. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is rated 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244), so repainting isn't needed. You may occasionally rinse debris or trim overhanging branches—the same care any roof benefits from. The Guardian Warranty's coverage of splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance reflects how stable aluminum remains across Fobes Hill's 58 annual freeze-thaw cycles.
What's the real difference between a 'lifetime' metal roof warranty and an asphalt roof warranty?
The Guardian Warranty is a non-prorated lifetime limited warranty for the original owner—meaning if the roof fails due to covered defects (rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, or loss of impact resistance), Interlock replaces it at no cost, even at year 40. Asphalt warranties are prorated after year 10, meaning you pay most of the cost yourself. The Guardian also transfers to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding value at resale. This durability makes sense: aluminum doesn't rust, won't rot in Fobes Hill's 1372 mm annual rainfall, and handles the freeze-thaw cycling that degrades asphalt and wood. The UL 2218 Class 4 hail rating covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches, and the 30-year PVDF coating warranty ensures the finish outlasts most roofing materials.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Fobes Hill, and what's the installation timeline?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has been serving the Snohomish County region since 1997 and specializes in Interlock's five profiles: Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile. Installation timeline depends on roof size and weather—typical residential projects complete within 2–5 days. Because Interlock installs directly over existing decking in most cases, there's no extended tear-off phase, which is a major advantage in Fobes Hill's rainy climate (1372 mm annually). The local team knows regional weather patterns, building codes (ESR-1790 compliance), and how to maximize the warranty. Currently, Interlock is offering no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation, making this an opportune time to upgrade before heavy winter rainfall and freeze-thaw cycles accelerate wear on aging asphalt.
