Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: July 22, 2007

We are writing this letter to show our appreciation for the wonderful job that was done on our roof. From the date your company representative met with us in our home to the date of completion, words cannot express how completely satisfied we are with your company. We definitely wanted a quality roof and were very impressed by the representation that was given to us. The product you provide was enough for us to make our decision, however it was a huge plus not to have to deal with a pushy salesman and to have such polite, friendly and hard working men providing the service. It was a pleasure to have them around our home. The quality, craftsmanship and lifetime warranty of this ">roof far outweighs the increased costs over other roof systems. However, other roof systems don't come with lifetime warranties and many only last for 8 to 10 years. We may have paid a little more initially, but how wonderful it is to know we will never have to re-roof our home again. And in addition to all of the above, it looks so beautiful and has added so much style to our home. I never dreamed a roof could make such a difference. Again, Thank you so much and be sure to know we will highly recommend your company to all of our family and friends.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in North Lynnwood

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in North Lynnwood, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in North Lynnwood.

How does a metal roof handle North Lynnwood's snow and ice buildup?

Metal roofs shed snow more effectively than asphalt because the smooth, hard surface prevents ice dams from forming and holding meltwater against your home. North Lynnwood averages about 37 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 31 freeze-thaw cycles per year—conditions that crack and degrade asphalt but don't affect aluminum's non-porous surface. The four-way interlocking panels lock snow in place during heavy loading, and the lightweight design (Shingle profile at 0.41 lb/sq ft) means your structure never strains under accumulated weight. Optional snow guards are available if you want controlled snow release.

Will a metal roof withstand Snohomish County wind gusts?

Yes. North Lynnwood's typical wind gusts reach about 112 km/h, and Interlock Metal Roofing is warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels create a unified system that distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on individual fasteners. The ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms the design meets IBC/IRC wind requirements for your region. Installation by Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc.—serving since 1997—ensures every seam and fastener meets that warranty standard.

Why don't aluminum roofs rust like steel ones do?

Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and degrades when exposed to moisture and salt air. Instead, aluminum forms a thin, self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal underneath; if the surface scratches, the oxide reforms automatically. Roofing-grade 3105-H24 / 3003-H24 aluminum (ASTM B209) adds further durability, and Interlock's Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish—applied to both sides of every panel and warranted 30 years against chalking—provides extra corrosion defense. This dual-layer approach makes aluminum ideal for Snohomish County's wet climate, where annual rainfall reaches about 1148 mm.

Can a metal roof handle hail, and will my insurance recognize it?

Interlock Metal Roofing achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty explicitly covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 impact resistance often qualifies homeowners for insurance premium reductions because the roof resists damage that would destroy asphalt or tile. This rating is verified by third-party testing, not marketing claims. If hail does breach the surface, you're protected under the lifetime limited warranty. Contact your insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 documentation and ICC-ES ESR-1790 report to explore potential discounts.

Yes. energy-efficient Interlock colors reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it like asphalt does, with initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 and thermal emissivity of 0.84—meaning less heat enters your attic and air-conditioning runs less frequently. North Lynnwood receives about 2898 sunshine hours per year, so summer cooling benefits are real even in the Pacific Northwest's cloudier months. The Cool Roof Rating Council has rated these reflective coatings, providing documented energy performance. Over a 40-50 year roof lifespan, the cumulative cooling savings offset installation cost while reducing your carbon footprint.

Does a metal roof help cool my house in summer?

What's the actual lifespan of an Interlock metal roof, and what does the warranty cover?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rust, rot, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no degradation as years pass. The warranty transfers once to the next owner for 50 years from completion, which adds significant resale value. Interlock has manufactured these panels since 1998 in Delta, BC, and they're installed from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station, proving durability across extreme climates. The 30-year Alunar coating warranty (ASTM D4214 / D2244 measured) ensures color and finish integrity through North Lynnwood's 1148 mm of annual rainfall.

Is metal roofing more expensive than asphalt when you factor in the full cost of ownership?

Over a 50-year horizon, metal typically costs less per year because asphalt requires replacement every 15-25 years. A single asphalt roof in Snohomish County costs thousands to install, and North Lynnwood's 37 cm of annual snow, 31 freeze-thaw cycles, and 1148 mm of rain accelerate weathering—meaning more frequent tearouts and landfill waste. Metal installs once and lasts a lifetime under the Guardian Warranty, with minimal maintenance. Current financing through Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. When you factor in energy savings, transferable warranty value, and zero tear-off cycles, metal becomes the last roof you buy.

How long does installation take, and can you install over my existing roof?

Installation typically takes 2-5 days depending on roof size and complexity. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. can often install directly over existing asphalt or wood shingles without stripping—the Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, and Mediterranean Tile profiles install over most existing roofs because aluminum is extraordinarily light; the Tile profile weighs ~0.59 lb/sq ft, about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile, eliminating the need for structural reinforcement. This overlay approach saves time and reduces debris costs. A detailed site visit confirms whether tearoff is necessary. The installer will ensure compliance with ICC-ES ESR-1790 and local Snohomish County building codes throughout the process.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Interlock metal roofs require far less maintenance than asphalt, wood shake, or traditional tile. Aluminum doesn't rot, split, curl, or deteriorate like asphalt shingles do under North Lynnwood's 31 annual freeze-thaw cycles and 1148 mm of rain. No algae grows on the Alunar fluorocarbon finish; no wood shakes crack or absorb moisture; no tiles shift or break. You'll rinse debris twice yearly and inspect fasteners every few years—that's it. The CALGreen-verified design confirms reduced maintenance requirements. The 30-year coating warranty protects color and finish without touch-up or resealing. Over 50 years, you'll spend a fraction of what asphalt demands in repairs, re-nailing, and patching.

Can metal roofing actually look like slate, shake, or tile on my house?

Yes. Interlock offers five authentic profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile—each with hand-selected texture and color variations that replicate the originals. The four-way interlocking system creates seamless visual continuity, and the aluminum panels install flat, creating dimensional shadow lines that mimic real slate or shake. All profiles come in multiple colors backed by a 30-year finish warranty. Whether you want classic slate elegance or Mediterranean warmth, the aesthetic matches high-end materials while delivering aluminum's durability, lightweight advantage (Slate and Shingle ~0.41 lb/sq ft), and lifetime warranty protection.
