Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: July 22, 2007

We are writing this letter to show our appreciation for the wonderful job that was done on our roof. From the date your company representative met with us in our home to the date of completion, words cannot express how completely satisfied we are with your company. We definitely wanted a quality roof and were very impressed by the representation that was given to us. The product you provide was enough for us to make our decision, however it was a huge plus not to have to deal with a pushy salesman and to have such polite, friendly and hard working men providing the service. It was a pleasure to have them around our home. The quality, craftsmanship and lifetime warranty of this ">roof far outweighs the increased costs over other roof systems. However, other roof systems don't come with lifetime warranties and many only last for 8 to 10 years. We may have paid a little more initially, but how wonderful it is to know we will never have to re-roof our home again. And in addition to all of the above, it looks so beautiful and has added so much style to our home. I never dreamed a roof could make such a difference. Again, Thank you so much and be sure to know we will highly recommend your company to all of our family and friends.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Woodway

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Woodway, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Woodway.

Does metal roofing handle heavy snow loads? What about ice dams in Woodway winters?

Interlock's aluminum panels are engineered to shed snow and ice efficiently while resisting the weight that would stress asphalt or wood shingles. At just 0.41 to 0.59 pounds per square foot depending on profile, there's no structural reinforcement required—the roof sits light even under Woodway's 37 centimeters of annual snow. The four-way interlocking design keeps panels locked tight through freeze-thaw cycles; with about 31 freeze-thaw days per year here, that matters. Metal conducts temperature differently than asphalt, reducing the ice-dam problem that plagues traditional roofing in moderate-snow climates like this one.

Will a metal roof rust in the Pacific Northwest's wet climate?

Aluminum cannot rust—it contains no iron, so oxidation is not a failure mode. Instead, aluminum forms a thin oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, protecting the core indefinitely. That's why Interlock's roofing has been installed everywhere from coastal salt-air homes to Antarctic research stations since 1998. Here in Snohomish County with roughly 1,148 millimeters of rain annually, the Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating—applied to both sides of every panel—adds an extra 30-year warranty against chalking and fading. Steel roofing rusts; aluminum doesn't. The difference compounds over decades of Pacific Northwest moisture.

Can metal roofing handle Woodway wind gusts?

Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 miles per hour when installed to specification. Woodway's typical gusts reach about 112 kilometers per hour (70 mph), with occasional stronger events—well within the panel's rated capacity. The four-way interlocking system locks each panel to its neighbors on all sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than concentrating stress on fasteners. This mechanical interlock is why the warranty covers full performance at 120 mph; it's the engineering of the system, not just the material, that keeps you secure during Puget Sound wind events.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles?

The math tips in metal's favor over a 50-year horizon. Asphalt shingles need replacement every 15 to 25 years; you'll tear off and landfill that material multiple times. Interlock carries a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, transferable once for 50 years from completion—meaning you install it once and never pay for another roof. Factor in no tear-offs, minimal maintenance, and the transferable warranty that adds resale value, and the per-year cost becomes competitive quickly. Woodway's 1,148 millimeters of annual rainfall and 37 centimeters of snow won't degrade aluminum the way moisture degrades asphalt. Current financing options include no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation.

How much maintenance does a metal roof really need?

Interlock aluminum roofing needs far less than asphalt, wood, or tile. No granule loss to track, no cupping or curling, no wood rot from Woodway's 1,148 millimeters of annual rain. Twice-yearly gutter cleaning and the occasional clearing of debris is standard; the CALGreen-verified design actually reduces maintenance liability compared to traditional materials. The Alunar coating handles weathering—no resealing, no re-staining, no fungicide treatments like wood shakes need in the Pacific Northwest. The aluminum simply ages gracefully without degradation. Most owners do a visual inspection annually and that's sufficient. The Guardian Warranty covers your material, so unexpected repairs are rare.

Do reflective metal roofs actually lower cooling costs in the Seattle area?

Yes, measurably. Interlock's energy-efficient colors reflect solar heat rather than absorbing it like asphalt does. Thermal emissivity reaches 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny), rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council. In a region with about 2,898 sunshine hours annually, even modest heat reflection translates to lower air-conditioning load on warm days and reduced overall cooling demand. The effect is smaller than in hot climates, but compounded over decades and every season, the energy savings are real. Snohomish County's mean temperature of 10.5°C means summer peaks matter more than baseline, making reflective coatings worth the selection.

How long does installation take, and can you install a metal roof over my old shingles?

Installation timelines depend on roof size and weather; Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., serving this region since 1997, sizes each job individually. The big advantage: Interlock's lightweight design (0.41 to 0.59 pounds per square foot) installs directly over most existing roofs without structural reinforcement. You avoid the labor and landfill cost of a tear-off. Woodway's rainy climate makes this even more valuable—fewer days the roof sits open. The installer walks you through the timeline before starting. Current promotions include no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, giving you flexibility on project timing.

Is metal roofing fire-resistant for wildfire-prone areas?

Interlock aluminum roofing is non-combustible and available with a Class A fire classification. The aluminum itself cannot ignite—it's inert. That rating matters for insurance, peace of mind, and code compliance under IBC/IRC standards (confirmed in ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790, reissued 2025). While Woodway's climate is wet rather than arid, the non-combustible construction is a permanent safety feature with no downside. If you're in or near a higher-risk zone or your insurer offers discounts for Class A roofing, this becomes both a risk-reduction tool and a potential premium reducer.

Will a metal roof help sell my home or improve its curb appeal?

A durable, attractive metal roof is a visible upgrade that signals quality maintenance to buyers. Interlock offers five profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile—so you choose aesthetics that fit your home's style. The transferable Guardian Warranty (one transfer, 50 years from completion) is a tangible selling point: the next owner gets half a century of material coverage. Combined with minimal maintenance, no future tear-offs, and potential insurance discounts from Class A fire rating or UL 2218 Class 4 hail resistance, you're presenting a roof that costs them nothing to maintain or replace. That story resonates with buyers, especially in Woodway's competitive market.

Is aluminum roofing better for the environment than asphalt?

Absolutely. Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life; aluminum scrap has real value, so your roof will be recycled, not landfilled. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, pile up in landfills every 15 to 25 years and take decades to break down. Over 50 years, you'll replace asphalt multiple times, each cycle generating waste and transportation emissions. Interlock's non-prorated lifetime warranty for the original owner means you install once and stop the tear-off cycle entirely. For homeowners in Woodway who care about reducing their footprint, a single metal roof installation eliminates the recurring environmental cost of repeated shingle replacement.
