Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Silver Firs, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Silver Firs
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Silver Firs, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Silver Firs.
How does a metal roof handle Silver Firs' heavy snow and ice buildup?
Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow and ice effectively because the smooth surface and panel geometry promote natural drainage—critical in a climate that averages 52 cm of snow annually. The lightweight design (Shake profile at ~0.58 lb/sq ft) means no structural reinforcement is needed, even under seasonal snow load. Unlike asphalt or wood shingles, aluminum won't crack, curl, or split during the area's typical 58 freeze-thaw cycles per year, so ice dams don't compromise panel integrity. Snow guards are available if you prefer controlled shedding.
Will freeze-thaw cycles in Snohomish County damage my metal roof?
No—aluminum's crystalline structure actually improves under freeze-thaw stress, unlike asphalt, wood, or concrete tile. Silver Firs experiences about 58 freeze-thaw cycles annually with an average temperature of 10.2°C, conditions that would cause wood shakes to split and asphalt to crack. Interlock panels are manufactured to ASTM B209 standards (roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy) specifically for this durability. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, protects against the mineral-rich moisture typical of Puget Sound winters.
Does a metal roof leak in the heavy rain we get around here?
Interlock's four-way interlocking design—where each panel locks to its neighbors on all four sides—creates a self-draining system that handles heavy rainfall without leaks. Silver Firs receives about 1372 mm of rain annually, and the panel geometry directs water downslope through the interlocks rather than allowing it to pool or penetrate seams. When installed to spec over a solid deck and underlayment (the standard for our region), the system performs identically to asphalt in lab testing. The Guardian warranty covers leakage caused by material defect for the life of your roof.
Why won't my aluminum roof rust like steel roofing can?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the element that oxidizes and corrodes in steel. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, transparent oxide layer that self-heals when scratched, providing permanent corrosion protection. For homeowners in salt-air zones or high-moisture regions like Snohomish County (averaging ~2907 sunshine hours and 1372 mm rain per year), this matters enormously. Interlock's Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating—applied to both sides of every panel—adds a second line of defense. The Guardian warranty explicitly covers rusting, giving you lifetime peace of mind in the Pacific Northwest's wet climate.
Can a metal roof withstand the wind gusts we experience in Silver Firs?
Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h)—far exceeding Silver Firs' typical gusts, which average 14 km/h with extremes around 96 km/h. The interlocks function as a mechanical system: each panel grips its neighbors on all sides, distributing wind load across the entire roof rather than stressing fasteners. This design earned the ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 for wind resistance under the IBC/IRC codes. Even during the region's stormiest weather, the interlocking geometry keeps panels secure without the fastener fatigue that can plague exposed-fastener systems.
Do I need to reinforce my house structure for a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light—the Mediterranean Tile profile weighs only ~0.59 lb/sq ft, approximately 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. In Silver Firs, where homes often have modest framing typical of the 1970s–2000s construction era, this matters: you can install a metal roof over most existing asphalt shingles without costly structural work. Compare that to a slate or tile replacement, which typically requires expensive reinforcement. The light weight also means faster installation and no added stress during the region's 58 annual freeze-thaw cycles.
What's the real lifespan and warranty on Interlock metal roofing?
The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's also transferable once, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion. This is extraordinary in a region where homeowners expect a 50-year roof and often stay for 20–30 years. Interlock has manufactured these panels since 1998, and installations have proven durable from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station. No other roofing material—asphalt, wood, or concrete tile—comes close to this combination of lifespan and warranty depth.
How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or wood?
Virtually none. Unlike asphalt shingles, which require periodic replacement of curled or cracked pieces, or wood shakes, which split under freeze-thaw stress (58 cycles per year in Silver Firs), aluminum panels don't rot, crack, or curl. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading—measured to ASTM D4214 standards—so repainting is unnecessary. You don't need to clear debris or apply sealants. Occasional rinsing in the region's 1372 mm annual rainfall naturally cleans the surface. The CALGreen-verified low-maintenance profile means more time enjoying your home and less time maintaining it.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over the life of the house?
Yes—it's the last roof you buy. Asphalt typically lasts 15–25 years in the Pacific Northwest's 1372 mm annual rainfall and 52 cm snow; a metal roof lasts indefinitely under The Guardian warranty. If you replace asphalt twice (tear-off, landfill disposal, new installation), the labor and material costs alone rival the initial metal-roof price. Add 30 years of zero maintenance, no mold or algae in wet Snohomish County weather, and transferability (adding resale value), and metal roofing becomes the economically smarter choice. Current financing offers—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—reduce the upfront burden further.
Does a metal roof offer better fire protection than asphalt shingles?
Yes. Aluminum is non-combustible, and Interlock offers Class A fire classifications (the highest rating) on all profiles. In a region prone to wildfire risk, non-combustible construction means your home resists ignition from flying embers and radiant heat far better than asphalt shingles (typically Class C or B). Interlock's aluminum alloy (ASTM B209 roofing-grade) will not sustain flame, produce smoke, or release flaming particles. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 confirms code compliance for fire resistance. This is especially relevant in Snohomish County, where homeowner insurance discounts and peace of mind matter.
