I am very impressed with the quality of your metal roof and would have loved to have gone with it. Now I know that I should quadruple the amount of money I need to save up if I expect to have a metal roof. I realize your roof is superior to the standard shingles and was impressed with how they lock together to give a tight seal.

The only step that was missing was notification of actual start date. Otherwise, the rest of the process was fine. We're quite pleased with the end results. The roof is now the best feature of our 1912 victorian. Time for new siding to compliment the overall appearance.

I made it clear on the phone when I made the appointment that I only wanted a quote because we are in the planning stages of this project. I should have known on the phone not to make the appointment when they insisted that my husband had to be at the quote as well....it screams hard sell. The two sales men that came to our house seemed nice at first but the more we balked at the price and said we need time to think about it because it was a higher number than expected, the harder they pushed, to the point of telling us that we should not paint our house (already in the middle of that project and contract signed) so that we could spend that money on our roof instead. I couldn't wait until they left our house and wanted to take a shower when they were gone because I felt violated by their approach. Honestly if anyone asked for roofing company I would tell them to steer clear of this company.

I believe that aluminum is probably the superior metal product, but the cost difference between it and steel made it easy to eliminate from our decision.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Cathcart

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Cathcart, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Cathcart.

Will a metal roof handle Cathcart's snow and ice load safely?

Yes—Interlock metal roofing is engineered to shed snow and ice effectively, even with Snohomish County's annual 52 cm snowfall. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels resist the weight and freeze-thaw stress that can crack or split traditional materials. Your installer can add snow guards if you want to control where melting snow exits. Aluminum's light weight (the Shake profile weighs just 0.58 lb/sq ft) means your home's structure bears a fraction of the load that slate or clay tile would impose, yet the material itself remains completely stable through about 58 freeze-thaw cycles each winter.

How does aluminum roofing stand up to Snohomish County's freeze-thaw cycles?

Aluminum thrives in freeze-thaw environments because it has no moisture absorption—it cannot rot, swell, or crack as wood, asphalt, or clay do. With approximately 58 freeze-thaw days per year in Cathcart, traditional materials degrade rapidly; aluminum's oxide layer simply strengthens with weathering. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating protects both sides of every panel and is warranted for 30 years against fading or chalking, meaning your roof's color and performance remain consistent through decades of temperature swings. The four-way interlocking design prevents water from working into seams during thaw cycles.

Can a metal roof rust in a rainy climate like Cathcart's?

Interlock aluminum roofing cannot rust because aluminum contains no iron—rust is iron oxide, which aluminum simply cannot form. Even if the surface is scratched, aluminum's protective oxide layer self-heals automatically. This is why Interlock panels have been installed from coastal salt-air homes to an Antarctic research station without corrosion failure. The roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) is also coated with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish on both sides, adding 30 years of extra protection against environmental wear. With 1372 mm of rain and frequent gusts up to 96 km/h, moisture and wind exposure accelerate corrosion in steel—but never in aluminum.

How does Interlock metal roofing handle Cathcart's wind and gusts?

Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h), far exceeding Snohomish County's typical gusts of 96 km/h. The interlocking design means each panel is mechanically fastened to its neighbors on all four edges, preventing lift-off or uplift during storms. This engineering—combined with the material's light weight (0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile)—creates a system that moves with wind rather than fighting it. When installed to specification, the roof remains secure even in the strongest regional wind events, and the warranty covers performance after installation.

Do I need to reinforce my roof structure for a metal roof?

No structural reinforcement is required with Interlock. The Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, weighs only about 0.59 lb/sq ft—roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile—so it installs directly over most existing roofs without adding load to your home's framing. Even the heaviest Interlock profile (Shake at 0.58 lb/sq ft) is negligible compared to traditional materials. This lightweight advantage means lower labor costs, faster installation, and the ability to roof over your existing shingles, avoiding the expense of tear-off and landfill fees. Your home's structure actually bears less weight than it does now, while you gain a roof that lasts a lifetime.

How much maintenance does an Interlock metal roof need?

Interlock metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance—no patching, no seasonal inspections, no cleaning cycles. Unlike asphalt, which develops cracks and loses granules; wood shake, which splits and rots; or clay tile, which needs mortar repair, aluminum simply ages without degradation. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating is CALGreen-verified for reduced maintenance. Rain naturally cleans the surface, and the material's non-porous nature means no algae, lichen, or moss growth even in Cathcart's 1372 mm annual rainfall. Your roof's warranty—lifetime limited for the original owner, 50-year transferable for the next—reflects this durability. A metal roof ends the maintenance treadmill.

Is a metal roof worth the cost compared to asphalt over time?

Yes—it's the last roof you'll buy. An asphalt roof typically lasts 15–20 years and requires replacement twice in a homeowner's lifetime; each tear-off costs $3,000–$5,000, plus disposal and disruption. Interlock carries the Guardian Warranty—lifetime limited, non-prorated material coverage for the original owner, then 50 years transferable to the next owner. That means zero replacement cost for decades. Add in zero maintenance, no emergency repairs, and energy savings from energy-efficient colors with up to 0.55 solar reflectance, and the total cost of ownership is dramatically lower. With Interlock's current promotion—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—the entry cost is accessible now.

Can a metal roof help reduce cooling costs in summer?

Yes. Interlock's energy-efficient colors are rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council with thermal emissivity of 0.84 and initial solar reflectance up to 0.55 (Aged Copper Penny profile), meaning the roof reflects heat that asphalt absorbs and re-radiates into your home. While Cathcart receives about 2907 sunshine hours per year—less than many regions—every bit of reflected heat reduces summer cooling load. The reflective coating is part of the Alunar 70% PVDF finish, which is warranted for 30 years against fading, so energy performance doesn't degrade. Metal roofing paired with proper attic ventilation can lower cooling costs by 10–15%, and the benefit compounds over the roof's 50+ year lifespan.

Who installs Interlock roofing in Cathcart, and how experienced are they?

Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served the Pacific Northwest since 1997—longer than any competing installer in the region. They understand Snohomish County's climate intimately: 1372 mm annual rain, 52 cm snow, 58 freeze-thaw days, and gusts to 96 km/h. The team is factory-trained on all five Interlock profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, Mediterranean Tile—and on installation over existing roofs, a critical skill for minimizing cost and disruption. Local service means fast response, warranty support from someone who knows your home's specific conditions, and access to genuine parts. Their current offer—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—is exclusive to this region.

Is a metal roof fire-safe?

Absolutely. Interlock aluminum roofing is non-combustible and available in Class A fire classification, the highest rating available. Because aluminum contains no organic material, it cannot ignite, spread flame, or contribute to fire—qualities critical in regions prone to wildfire or in neighborhoods with fire codes. The ICC-ES evaluation report ESR-1790 (reissued 2025 for IBC/IRC compliance) confirms this performance. This fire safety, combined with the roof's resistance to wind (120 mph warranty) and impact (UL 2218 Class 4 hail rating, covering perforation up to 1.5 inches), creates peace of mind for Cathcart homeowners. Interlock also reduces insurance risk compared to wood shake or asphalt, which are combustible and prone to ember ignition.
