Review: October 14, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.

Review: August 23, 2025

We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Grisdale

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Grisdale, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Grisdale.

Does a metal roof handle heavy snow loads? Grisdale gets about 104 cm of snow yearly.

Yes — aluminum's exceptional strength-to-weight ratio means it sheds snow and ice effectively without strain. At just 0.41 to 0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile, Interlock panels won't sag under Grisdale's average snow load the way heavier materials do, and the smooth, interlocking design naturally encourages melt-off during the region's ~38 annual freeze-thaw cycles. Snow guards are available if desired for architectural control. The four-way interlocking system keeps panels unified, so thermal cycling doesn't create gaps where ice dams form.

Will a metal roof leak in Grisdale's rainy climate?

Metal roofs are leak-proof when installed to code — and Grisdale's ~2523 mm of annual rainfall makes proper installation critical. Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are engineered to shed water continuously; the ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms compliance with IRC/IBC standards for water management. A solid deck and quality underlayment (both included in a professional installation) create a complete water barrier. Our local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., has served this region since 1997 with zero-leak installations — your attic stays dry through Pacific Northwest winters.

How does a metal roof perform in Grisdale's wind and storms?

Grisdale's typical gusts reach about 106 km/h, and Interlock's four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The overlapping, mechanically locked design distributes wind load across the entire roof plane instead of allowing individual panels to lift or flutter. This engineered redundancy means your roof stays secure through the Pacific Northwest's most aggressive wind events, and many insurance carriers recognize this durability with premium discounts.

What's the hail rating on this metal roof, and can it reduce insurance costs?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating — the highest available — and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. This non-combustible, impact-resistant aluminum roof often qualifies for homeowner insurance discounts because it eliminates the claim risk associated with asphalt shingles. Contact your carrier with the UL 2218 Class 4 certification and ICC-ES ESR-1790 documentation; many offer 10–15% premium reductions for verified metal roofing installations.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing?

Aluminum roofing cannot rust because the material contains no iron — the element that causes rust in steel. Instead, aluminum develops a thin, self-healing oxide layer that actually protects the underlying metal. When scratched, this layer reforms automatically, making aluminum ideal for salt-air environments and Grisdale's wet, freeze-thaw climate where ~38 annual thaw cycles challenge traditional materials. The Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (both sides of every panel) adds 30 years of fade and chalk resistance, keeping your roof's appearance and protection intact through decades of Pacific Northwest weather.

Can my existing structure support a metal roof, or do I need expensive reinforcement?

Aluminum's lightness eliminates reinforcement. The Mediterranean Tile profile, for example, weighs only ~0.59 lb/sq ft — about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile — and can install directly over most existing roofs without structural modification. Grisdale homes built for asphalt (typically 2–3 lb/sq ft) gain massive safety margin with Interlock. This dramatically reduces installation cost and disruption compared to traditional heavy materials. Your local installer can assess your framing in minutes; in most cases, no engineer report or structural work is needed.

How long will this roof last, and what does the warranty actually cover?

Interlock's Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner — covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no depreciation. The next owner receives a 50-year transferable term, protecting your investment across ownership changes. Aluminum itself lasts 50+ years in Pacific Northwest conditions; combined with the 30-year Alunar® coating warranty (ASTM D4214/D2244 tested), this is genuinely the last roof most homeowners buy. No other roofing material offers comparable protection over this timespan.

Is metal roofing better for the environment than asphalt?

Yes — Interlock aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable, ending the tear-off-to-landfill cycle that plagues asphalt roofing. When your roof's life ends (decades away), the material returns to the aluminum supply chain rather than a waste site. The manufacturing process at Interlock's Delta, BC facility has been refined since 1998 to minimize waste. Grisdale's ~2790 annual sunshine hours also mean energy-efficient colors with up to 0.55 initial solar reflectance (Aged Copper Penny) reduce cooling demand. CALGreen verification confirms the maintenance-free design cuts embodied carbon versus wood, tile, or asphalt requiring periodic replacement.

What maintenance does a metal roof need in a rainy climate?

Virtually none. Unlike wood shakes (which split and rot in Grisdale's ~2523 mm annual rainfall and freeze-thaw cycles), asphalt (which deteriorates under UV and weather), or tile (which requires repointing), Interlock aluminum needs only occasional gutter clearing and debris removal — the same as any roof. The Alunar® coating resists moss and algae growth, and the smooth panel surface sheds rain and keeps itself clean. This low-maintenance design is CALGreen-verified. Your only real task is enjoying the fact that weather, snow load, and time aren't slowly destroying your investment the way they would with traditional materials.

What's the real cost difference between metal and asphalt over 30 or 40 years?

Asphalt typically costs 30–40% less upfront but requires replacement every 15–20 years in Grisdale's wet, freeze-thaw climate. A single metal roof installation, protected by the lifetime Guardian Warranty (50 years for the second owner), outlasts 2–3 asphalt roofs. Factor in labor, disposal fees, and roof-off disruption for each replacement, plus the current promotion of no payments/no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off, and metal becomes the lower total-cost option within 30 years. Your local installer, serving since 1997, can show you the payback math on your specific home — most homeowners find peace of mind worth far more than the modest upfront premium.
