Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Neilton, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
Prompt service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
Ivan Excellent will make it right!!
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
The work was efficient and well done. The service, the people and team were great. Beautiful roof.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
Excellent contact and coordination with field representatives and installers/project manager.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Neilton
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Neilton, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Neilton.
How does a metal roof handle Neilton's heavy snow and ice buildup?
Metal roofing sheds snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because its smooth, interlocking aluminum panels create a slippery surface; with about 120 cm of annual snowfall and 42 freeze-thaw days per year in Grays Harbor County, this matters. The four-way interlocking system prevents water infiltration during melt cycles, and optional snow guards can be installed to control release. Unlike wood shakes that absorb moisture and split, aluminum's oxide layer never swells or contracts enough to trap ice dams.
Will freeze-thaw cycles in Washington damage aluminum metal roofing?
No. Aluminum expands and contracts minimally compared to other materials, and it contains no iron, so the freeze-thaw cycle cannot cause rust or corrosion. Neilton experiences roughly 42 freeze-thaw days annually with average winter temperatures near 10°C. Wood shakes absorb moisture, swell, and split; concrete tile cracks; asphalt becomes brittle. Interlock's roofing-grade 3105-H24 aluminum alloy and dual-sided Alunar 70% PVDF coating are engineered to survive repeated wet-cold transitions without degradation.
Can a metal roof handle the 2,771 mm of rain Neilton gets every year?
Yes—metal roofing is designed specifically for high-rainfall climates. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels overlap at multiple points, creating redundant pathways that direct water outward and downward; even in Grays Harbor County's wettest months, water cannot pool or seep upward. The panel seams are engineered to shed rather than trap. Combined with proper underlayment and flashing installed by Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., the system has proven leak-free in coastal salt-air environments and Antarctic research stations.
Why don't aluminum roofs rust like steel metal roofs in wet climates?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; steel does, which is why steel rusting is inevitable outdoors. Instead, aluminum develops an invisible, self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal underneath. When scratched, this layer reforms automatically. Added protection: Interlock applies Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating to both sides of every panel, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. In Neilton's damp climate with gusts exceeding 117 km/h, this dual-layer defense means no rust, no maintenance painting, and no corrosion surprises.
Can a metal roof survive Neilton's winter winds and gusts?
Yes. Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Neilton's typical daily winds average about 14 km/h with gusts reaching 117 km/h—well within this rating. The four-way interlocking system locks each panel to its neighbors at multiple points, distributing force across the entire roof rather than concentrating stress on fasteners. This design has been proven in coastal and mountain regions. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has installed thousands of roofs in the Pacific Northwest since 1997 and understands wind load engineering for your region.
Do I need to reinforce my house to support a metal roof?
No structural reinforcement needed. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light—the Shingle profile installs at just 0.41 lb per square foot, and even the Mediterranean Tile is about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means the roof can install directly over most existing structures without costly framing upgrades. Neilton homeowners can avoid the $3,000–$8,000+ reinforcement bills that come with slate, clay, or concrete alternatives. The lightweight design also reduces strain during high-wind events like the 117 km/h gusts your region experiences.
Does a metal roof offer hail protection in Grays Harbor County?
Interlock metal roofing carries a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Neilton's climate data suggests hail is not frequent, the Class 4 rating provides insurance against severe convective events. Some homeowners in hail-prone regions qualify for insurance discounts with this rating; check with your carrier. The aluminum construction also resists repeated small impacts that would dent or crack asphalt, wood, or tile over time.
What warranty comes with Interlock metal roofing in Washington?
The Guardian Warranty provides a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no deductibles. This is the last roof you will buy. The warranty is transferable once to the next owner, extending 50 years from completion, adding significant resale value. Coupled with the Alunar 70% PVDF coating warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, your metal roof is protected through decades of Neilton's 2,771 mm annual rainfall and 42 freeze-thaw cycles.
Is metal roofing more sustainable than asphalt shingles?
Yes. Interlock aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, with no value lost in recycling. Asphalt shingles, by contrast, shed 11+ million tons annually into North American landfills and remain there indefinitely. Over a roof's 40–50+ year lifespan, metal roofing eliminates multiple tear-off cycles and their disposal costs. Aluminum manufacturing does consume energy, but the durability eliminates the asphalt replacement-every-15-20-years cycle. Neilton residents choosing metal break the landfill dependency, and the roof's light weight (0.58 lb/sq ft for Shake) reduces transport emissions during installation.
How much maintenance does a metal roof require in Washington's wet climate?
Virtually none beyond annual gutter cleaning. Metal roofing does not rot, split, curl, or absorb moisture like wood shakes; it does not crack or deteriorate like concrete tile; and it does not require resealing like asphalt. Neilton's 2,771 mm annual rainfall rinses the roof clean naturally. The Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading (ASTM D4214/D2244 tested), and the aluminum core cannot rust or corrode. No painting, no fungicide treatments, no algae pressure-washing—just a durable, low-cost surface that outlasts traditional materials by decades.
