| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |

What our customers are saying:
My wife and I wanted a long-term roof and I think we found it. The product seems very good and are installer Daniel was terrific and a trooper put a lot of hours and a lot of time and made it look real nice when it was completed. I would recommend the company if you're looking for a metal roof.
We needed a roof repair when our neighbors tree dropped a large limb through our roof. Ivan came And accessed The damage, Ordered the sheets we needed. He came back and did the whole Repair himself. So happy to have it fixed along with his recommendations to have the roof cleaned. We appreciate his skills in repairing The roof.
The Interlock associate Ivan, came did an awesome service in correcting the part needed to be corrected, he left us with instructions of what we needed to check and to get in touch with, if needed 😀 Ms. May the associate answering the phone was helpful for us to get prompt service. They are dependable. We received roof service.
I highly appreciate the professionalism, workmanship and the quality of materials used. I don't doubt that it will be our forever roof and will not need to worry about replacement during the life of our house. Ross, Tony, Roma were all great throughout the new roof installation process.
We noticed water spots on the ceiling. Ivan came, found a hole likely caused by a branch in the recent wind storm. He repaired the hole on the spot. Thank you Ivan!
Ivan replaced our exhaust vent on the roof that had some leaking issue. We were impressed with his professionalism, courtesy and fixing the problem to our utmost satisfaction. We certainly would recommend him and the company for any roofing issues being it a new roof or repairs.
Interlock was professional and efficient. We would hire them again for future projects. Better job cleaning up the site of discarded materials.
We recently had our roof replaced with interlock aluminum shingles and we love how it made our house stand out in our neighborhood. I would have given 5 stars but there were few things that I wanted to point out. Ross arrived on time and did an excellent presentation. I specifically asked him if their installers are contractors and his answer was no, they are employees of interlock. Turns out they are contractors which is no big deal as long as they do excellent work, it’s all about honesty. Prior to installation, the installers told me that it would take about two and a half days to finish which is great, I said no rush. The installation process took two weeks, I hope everything will go well this coming rainy season. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end of the day they leave their tools in the driveway just laying around and the worst they leave their microwave plugged into the outlet with damaged power cord. But with all things said, we love our new roof and only time will tell if it was worth the price.
The installers were not Interlock employees. I assumed they would be and was surprised to learn that they were "piece mealed". They were independent roofing contractors who install many different roof materials and as a result, there were some mistakes made that needed to be corrected after I brought them to the Installer Manager's attention. They also did not speak English well or at all. At times, I was having conversations with the Supervisor through an iPhone translation app. The cost for the job was outrageous in my opinion but then I did sign the contract agreeing to this as I knew much of the cost was to support the warranty and future trips to the house for repairs if needed. In other words, I was paying for a warranty not the cost and reasonable markup for the job. Having paid that, my expectations were high yet I had to get pro actively involved to make sure the job turned out as expected. So in a nutshell, I would be somewhat hesitant recommending Interlock Roofing because of the price and non-English speaking installers. Get your own English speaking roofing employees. Had no idea at the time we signed the contract that you were merely a materials supplier. Attention to details. Got to demand it to get the job done right.
Never have them do business with them. Not honest, transparent. They then tried to take legal action against me. Transparency and being honest. They used subcontractors. They should not be rude and disrespectful to their customers. Patrick should be fired.
We recently had our roof replaced with aluminum shingles and are very satisfied so far. - Easy Sales Process – Thank you Ross for making everything clear and straightforward from the start. - Great Value – The price was very reasonable compared to other estimates. - Better Than Expected – The finished look exceeded our expectations and really improved the appearance of our home. It’s not as glossy as we feared, which we like. - Fast & Efficient – The crew worked quickly and finished everything in just 2 days for our ~1,000 sq. ft. house with two layers of old shingles. - No Issues – No noise at all, despite common concerns about metal roofs. Tip for others: Ask for the exact model and size of vents that will be installed before the project starts. Our vents were only a few months old but couldn’t be reused, and the ones the company brought were the wrong size. The crew had to buy replacements last minute, which worked but don’t perfectly match.
I think that Interlock Roofing could improve on communication.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Axford
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Axford, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Axford.
How does a metal roof handle Axford's annual snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Aluminum's smooth, hard surface sheds snow and ice more readily than asphalt, reducing ice-dam formation during Axford's roughly 38 freeze-thaw days per year. The four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind gusts up to 120 mph, so they remain secure even when snow loading shifts. At just 0.41–0.59 lb/sq ft depending on profile, Interlock panels won't accumulate snow mass the way heavy slate or concrete tile would, and snow guards can be added to manage controlled shedding across your roof's 60 cm average annual snowfall without structural concern.
Does heavy rainfall in Grays Harbor County compromise a metal roof's water-tightness?
No. Axford receives approximately 2305 mm of annual rainfall, yet the four-way interlocking design creates overlapping, shingled coverage that directs water downward and outward—the same principle that protects traditional roofs but with superior panel-to-panel seal geometry. Metal's rigidity prevents the sagging and cupping that allow water intrusion in asphalt. When installed to ESR-1790 specifications over a solid deck and underlayment, the roof meets IRC/IBC code and stops leaks that would penetrate softer materials. Proper gutter and flashing detail—handled by local installers since 1997—ensure water routes to drainage rather than into the structure.
Why won't an aluminum metal roof rust in a wet Pacific Northwest climate?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron; instead, it forms a self-healing aluminum oxide layer that seals itself when scratched. In Grays Harbor's moist 2305 mm annual rainfall and salt-air exposure, this oxide layer continuously regenerates—a property that steel roofs lack and asphalt cannot match. Interlock panels are made from ASTM B209 roofing-grade aluminum (3105-H24 / 3003-H24) with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating applied to both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. This dual protection means your roof will outlast the corrosion cycle that degrades steel or the degradation asphalt suffers in persistent wet conditions.
Can a metal roof stand up to Axford hailstorms, and will my insurance recognize that?
Yes. Interlock Metal Roofing holds a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Across Grays Harbor's typical 15 km/h winds with gusts reaching 106 km/h and seasonal weather volatility, that durability is measurable and insurable. Many homeowners have qualified for insurance premium reductions because Class 4 impact resistance directly lowers claim risk. Request a copy of the UL 2218 certification when you meet with a local installer; they can help you document this to your insurer and potentially recoup installation costs through rate savings over time.
How secure is a metal roof when Axford gets wind gusts over 100 km/h?
Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h)—well above Axford's recorded gust speeds near 106 km/h. The overlap geometry means each panel locks mechanically to its neighbors, distributing lateral force across the entire roof plane rather than relying on fastener count alone. This design has performed on Antarctic research stations and coastal salt-air homes where wind and weather stress is extreme. During the typical 15 km/h average winds and seasonal gust events in Grays Harbor County, the interlocking system maintains its seal and structural integrity without the lifting or panel separation that can plague lighter asphalt or improperly fastened standing seam.
Do I need to reinforce my house framing to support a metal roof in Axford?
No structural reinforcement is needed. Interlock panels are exceptionally light—the Mediterranean Tile profile installs at approximately 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. The Slate and Shingle profiles are even lighter at 0.41–0.46 lb/sq ft. Most existing framing in Axford homes can support this load without modification, and in many cases, the new metal roof can install directly over your existing asphalt shingles, avoiding tear-off labor and disposal costs. A local installer since 1997 will verify your structure during the inspection, but the aluminum's weight advantage typically eliminates the expensive reinforcement that slate, tile, or standing-seam steel would require.
What warranty backs an Interlock metal roof, and how long will it really last?
The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance—conditions that plague asphalt shingles well before 30 years pass. It's one-time transferable, giving the next owner 50 years of coverage from completion. Manufactured since 1998 in Delta, BC, Interlock panels have performed across 2789 annual sunshine hours and roughly 38 freeze-thaw cycles typical in Axford, demonstrating durability that outlasts multiple asphalt replacements. Combined with the Alunar 70% PVDF coating's 30-year color and fade warranty, you're buying the last roof you'll install, not a mid-life replacement.
How much maintenance does an aluminum metal roof need in Axford's wet climate?
Aluminum requires significantly less maintenance than asphalt, wood shake, or traditional tile. No resealing, no algae or moss treatment, no rotting or splitting to repair—the rigidity and non-porous surface shed debris and resist the moisture-driven degradation that plagues Axford's 2305 mm annual rainfall and 38 freeze-thaw days. Routine gutter cleaning and occasional debris removal are all that's needed, similar to a solid metal structure. Asphalt shingles require periodic replacement and specialized cleaning in this wet climate; wood shake invites moss and rot; tile cracks from freeze-thaw stress. Interlock's CALGreen-verified design reflects the reduced maintenance burden over a 50-year ownership timeline, lowering your total cost of roof ownership compared to materials that demand intervention every 10–20 years.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt shingles over the roof's lifetime?
Yes, when you calculate total cost over 50 years. Asphalt fails every 15–25 years in Axford's 2305 mm rainfall and 38 annual freeze-thaw cycles—meaning you replace it twice or three times. Each tear-off sends thousands of pounds to landfill. Interlock's lifetime limited warranty, non-prorated for the original owner, eliminates those cycles and disposal costs. The Alunar coating's 30-year fade and chalk warranty preserves appearance and function. Current promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation. Over 50 years, one metal roof beats three asphalt replacements in material cost, labor, dumpster fees, and your time managing failures. Insurance discounts on UL 2218 Class 4-rated roofs often reduce premiums by 10–20%, further closing the gap.
Who installs Interlock Metal Roofing in Axford, and what's their track record?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served Grays Harbor County since 1997—nearly 30 years of experience with the region's wet climate, seasonal wind gusts near 106 km/h, 60 cm snow, and roughly 2789 sunshine hours per year. They understand freeze-thaw stress, proper drainage in persistent rainfall, and structural assessment across older and newer Axford homes. The installer can verify your roof's readiness, discuss profile options (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, Mediterranean Tile), explain the ESR-1790 code compliance and UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, and help you secure potential insurance credits. Current promotion includes no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—terms worth discussing directly to align with your budget timeline.
Is a metal roof a good choice for Axford’s climate?
Yes. Axford averages about 60 cm of snow, 2305 mm of rain, roughly 38 freeze–thaw days a year, with peak wind gusts near 106 km/h. Interlock® aluminum roofing is wind-rated to 193+ km/h (120 mph), UL 2218 Class 4 impact-rated and Class A fire-rated, and its four-way interlocking panels shed snow and resist ice dams and freeze–thaw cracking — all backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty.
