Review: February 19, 2020

It's been about 6 weeks since our new roof was completed, and we are thrilled with the result. The whole process from start to finish was seamless and very efficient. As a salesperson myself, I was impressed with the 'no pressure' approach to selling us the roof and the information that was provided to us to make an informed decision on the type of roof for our home. We chose the black slate and it looks very smart and has transformed the look of our home considerably. Since the roof was installed, we have had the usual mixed bag of Washington weather - heavy rain, hail, strong winds, and frost. Our roof has been put to the test and passed with flying colors. Frank observed the installation process and was impressed with the seamless flashing, custom-made on site, and state of the art vent coverings. Our roof looks beautiful and stands out from the others in our neighborhood. We were particularly impressed with the workmanship of Victor and Mark Lomakin, the two men who installed the roof. They were punctual, fast, courteous, respectful, efficient and very professional. Our neighbors also commented on how well they worked. When the roof was complete, they cleared away all debris and even removed the unwanted satellite dish from our roof. It couldn't have gone better. We received all the financial documentation in a timely manner and all of the employees we have dealt with have been very knowledgeable and helpful. Our only criticism is that it would be nice to have an online payment facility for overpayments. Currently the only way to do that is to mail a payment to Canada but we don't have checks so we would have to purchase money orders and mail them as we intend to make over-payments along the way. We would happily recommend Interlock to anyone looking for a new roof. Kind regards Jennifer and Frank Herboldsheimer Ocean Shores, WA

Review: March 27, 2024

To whom it may concern I would like to commend you on your roofing products, and your choice employees. I recently had my roof replaced by your firm, I have received multiple compliments as to how nice it looks and enhances the appearance of my home. All your employees have been top notch, honest and genuinely helpful. Ross, your salesman, was great. He did not pressure us, we felt that he had our best interest at heart. He pointed out the options and showed us ways that we could reduce the financial impact. The two installers were Ukrainian. I did not get their names, but they were respectful and very business-like. They took their job very seriously and worked sunup to sundown (10 + hours) for the three days they were here. l did not see them take a break during that time. Lastly, Renee in the office was charged with the task of reminding me of the payment schedule, she did so with a great attitude and friendliness. Our experience was very positive. I would recommend your business to anyone looking for a new roof. Our job was accomplished with minimal interruption to our life. Our home was left pretty much as it was found except, we have a new roof. I do not anticipate any problems for the next 50+ years. [modula id="138011"]

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Newton

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Newton, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Newton.

How does a metal roof handle Newton's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because aluminum's smooth, hard surface prevents ice dams from forming—critical in a region that averages about 60 cm of snow and 38 freeze-thaw days annually. The four-way interlocking panels are warranted to resist wind gusts up to 120 mph, meaning the mechanical grip holding panels together easily handles the weight and stress of repeated thaw-and-refreeze cycles. Aluminum expands and contracts uniformly with temperature swings, unlike asphalt shingles that crack and curl under those same conditions.

Why can't aluminum roofs rust like steel ones, and does that matter in Grays Harbor?

Aluminum contains no iron, so it physically cannot rust—ever. Instead, it forms a self-healing oxide layer that seals itself if scratched, giving it inherent corrosion resistance that steel lacks. In Grays Harbor's maritime climate with 2,305 mm of annual rainfall and salt-carrying wind gusts reaching 106 km/h, this matters enormously. Interlock panels are coated with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon on both sides (warranted 30 years against fading), providing a second barrier that protects the aluminum underneath. You'll never face the rust stains, structural decay, or premature failure that plague steel roofs in wet, coastal regions.

Does a metal roof leak in Newton's heavy rainfall?

No. With 2,305 mm of annual rain, Newton homes need a roof engineered for water shedding, and metal roofs excel there. The four-way interlocking panels lock together so tightly that water cannot work its way into seams—it flows directly off. When installed to spec over a solid deck and underlayment (which Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. provides), the system is as leak-proof as asphalt shingles but far more durable because there's no felt mat to rot or gaps in the coating to fail. Heavy rainfall actually favors metal: aluminum won't absorb water, swell, or weaken like organic materials do over decades.

Will a metal roof stay on my house during Grays Harbor windstorms?

Yes. Newton experiences wind gusts exceeding 106 km/h, and Interlock panels are warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. The four-way interlocking design means each panel locks mechanically to its neighbors on all sides, creating a single cohesive unit that resists uplift—not individual shingles that peel away one by one. UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating confirms the panels' structural integrity. Our local installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc., has been serving the region since 1997 and understands exactly how to secure panels for coastal wind performance.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost over asphalt in the long run?

Yes. Asphalt shingles typically last 15–25 years in Newton's climate—with 2,305 mm rain, 60 cm snow, and 38 freeze-thaw days annually, they degrade faster. You'll replace them twice or three times over a 50-year period, each time tearing off old shingles and hauling them to the landfill. Interlock's Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited (non-prorated) for the original owner and transferable for 50 years to the next owner, so one installation truly is your last roof. Plus, current promotion offers no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation—making the total cost of ownership far lower than repeated asphalt cycles.

Does my house need structural reinforcement for a metal roof?

No. Interlock's lightest profile, the Shingle, installs at just 0.41 lb/sq ft—about 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. Even the heavier Mediterranean Tile profile at 0.59 lb/sq ft adds minimal load. Most homes can handle a metal roof retrofit without any structural upgrades, and Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. installs panels directly over existing asphalt roofs in many cases, eliminating the cost and mess of tear-off. This is a major advantage in regions like Newton with 2,305 mm annual rainfall: avoiding tear-off means no temporary water exposure and no asphalt waste heading to landfill.

How much work is it to maintain a metal roof in Newton?

Virtually none. Aluminum won't rot, split, crack, curl, or lose impact resistance like wood, asphalt, or tile do—especially important in a climate with 38 freeze-thaw days per year and 60 cm of snow. The Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading, is factory-applied to both sides of every panel, so no field coating or resealing is needed. Leaves and debris slide off the smooth, sloped surface with rain (2,305 mm annually). Your only maintenance is an occasional gutter cleaning, making metal roofing far simpler than wood shakes that require annual inspection and sealing or asphalt that degrades silently until failure.

What does the warranty really cover, and how long will my metal roof last?

The Guardian Warranty is lifetime limited (non-prorated) for the original owner—it covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It's transferable to the next owner for 50 years from completion, adding genuine resale value. Unlike prorated warranties that diminish over time, you're covered at full value for life. In Newton's challenging climate—2,305 mm rain, 60 cm snow, wind gusts to 106 km/h—this non-prorated coverage protects you from the wear patterns that destroy asphalt and wood. Aluminum's inherent resistance to corrosion, combined with the 30-year Alunar coating warranty and four-way interlocking engineering (ESR-1790 certified), means your roof will outlive the mortgage.

Is metal roofing better for the environment than what I'd replace?

Absolutely. Aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable at end of life, whereas asphalt shingles end up in landfills. Over 50 years, a traditional asphalt roof means multiple tear-off cycles—each time, thousands of pounds of waste, truck trips, and landfill space consumed. Interlock's lightweight design (0.41 to 0.59 lb/sq ft) often allows installation over existing roofs, eliminating one tear-off entirely. With 2,305 mm annual rainfall in Newton, an asphalt roof's felt mat absorbs moisture, speeds degradation, and ensures frequent replacement—and more waste. Metal roofing ends that cycle. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance demands, and the 50-year transferable warranty means fewer roofs installed per home over a century.

Can a metal roof look like slate, cedar shake, or tile instead of industrial metal?

Yes. Interlock manufactures five distinct profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Standing Seam, and Mediterranean Tile—each with authentic visual texture and dimension. Every profile is available in multiple colors and finished with Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating (30-year warranty against fading), so your roof maintains its appearance through Newton's 2,789 annual sunshine hours and heavy rain cycles. The profiles are manufactured to the same ICC-ES ESR-1790 specifications and engineered for the same wind-resistance (120 mph warrant), Class 4 hail rating, and non-prorated lifetime warranty. Choose the style that matches your home's character without sacrificing any performance or durability—traditional beauty with modern engineering.
