What our customers are saying:

★★★★★
Review: February 19, 2020

It's been about 6 weeks since our new roof was completed, and we are thrilled with the result. The whole process from start to finish was seamless and very efficient. As a salesperson myself, I was impressed with the 'no pressure' approach to selling us the roof and the information that was provided to us to make an informed decision on the type of roof for our home. We chose the black slate and it looks very smart and has transformed the look of our home considerably. Since the roof was installed, we have had the usual mixed bag of Washington weather - heavy rain, hail, strong winds, and frost. Our roof has been put to the test and passed with flying colors. Frank observed the installation process and was impressed with the seamless flashing, custom-made on site, and state of the art vent coverings. Our roof looks beautiful and stands out from the others in our neighborhood. We were particularly impressed with the workmanship of Victor and Mark Lomakin, the two men who installed the roof. They were punctual, fast, courteous, respectful, efficient and very professional. Our neighbors also commented on how well they worked. When the roof was complete, they cleared away all debris and even removed the unwanted satellite dish from our roof. It couldn't have gone better. We received all the financial documentation in a timely manner and all of the employees we have dealt with have been very knowledgeable and helpful. Our only criticism is that it would be nice to have an online payment facility for overpayments. Currently the only way to do that is to mail a payment to Canada but we don't have checks so we would have to purchase money orders and mail them as we intend to make over-payments along the way. We would happily recommend Interlock to anyone looking for a new roof. Kind regards Jennifer and Frank Herboldsheimer Ocean Shores, WA

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Sampson

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Sampson, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Sampson.

Does metal roofing handle heavy snow and ice dams in Sampson winters?

Yes—Interlock's four-way interlocking aluminum panels shed snow efficiently and resist ice dam formation because aluminum conducts heat, preventing the freeze-thaw cycle that traps water on asphalt roofs. Sampson averages about 60 cm of snow annually with roughly 38 freeze-thaw days, creating ideal conditions for ice dams on traditional roofs. Aluminum's smooth, sloped profiles (Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Tile, Standing Seam) allow snow to slide safely when conditions permit, and optional snow guards protect gutters and lower roofs. The material's light weight—Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft—means no structural concern even under peak snow load, and the panels' interlocking design prevents wind-driven snow infiltration during the region's typical 106 km/h gusts.

How does an aluminum metal roof perform in Sampson's heavy rainfall?

Interlock's four-way interlocking panels create a continuous watershed that sheds Sampson's annual 2305 mm of rain without pooling or seepage when installed to spec. Each panel locks on all four edges, eliminating the gaps and overlaps where water penetrates asphalt or wood shingles. The solid deck and underlayment system—not the metal itself—prevents leaks; this same approach keeps rain as quiet indoors as an asphalt roof despite the common myth. Aluminum's oxide layer self-heals when scratched, so corrosion from moisture never compromises the seal. Over a 50-year lifespan, you avoid the recurring leaks, rot, and maintenance that plague asphalt in wet climates; the Guardian Warranty covers rusting and rotting for life on the original owner.

Why doesn't aluminum rust like steel roofing, and does salt air matter in Grays Harbor County?

Aluminum contains no iron—the element that rusts—so it cannot oxidize into the flaking, weakening corrosion that destroys steel roofs. Instead, aluminum forms a microscopic, self-healing oxide layer that protects the metal underneath; when scratched or exposed, this layer reforms automatically. Interlock uses roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy (ASTM B209) and applies Alunar 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating to both sides, warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. The dual-side coating is critical in Grays Harbor's salt-air environment near the coast; Interlock panels have protected Antarctic research stations and coastal homes for over 25 years. The Guardian Warranty guarantees no rusting for life, removing the corrosion risk that shortens steel roof service life to 15–20 years in maritime climates.

Can metal roofing withstand Sampson's wind gusts and storms?

Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to spec, far exceeding Sampson's typical peak gusts of 106 km/h. The four-way interlocking aluminum panels grip each other mechanically, so no single panel peels away; fasteners are hidden beneath overlaps, keeping them out of the wind's direct attack. This design has performed through decades of Pacific Northwest storms and coastal gales. The lightweight construction—Shake profile at 0.58 lb/sq ft—reduces the overall load on roof structure and fasteners, improving wind performance compared to heavy slate, concrete, or clay tile. ICC-ES evaluation ESR-1790 confirms compliance with IBC/IRC wind load requirements, and the interlocking geometry prevents the flutter and lift that compromise exposed fastener systems in high-gust events.

Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to asphalt over 50 years?

Metal roofing costs more initially but becomes cheaper over a 50-year lifespan because you buy it once instead of replacing asphalt every 15–20 years. Sampson's 2305 mm annual rainfall and 38 freeze-thaw cycles accelerate asphalt deterioration; you'll replace it 2–3 times while Interlock serves the entire period under The Guardian Warranty—lifetime limited for the original owner, then 50 years transferable to the next. Factoring tear-off labor, debris disposal, and new installation costs (typically $1200–2000 per replacement), asphalt's true 50-year cost often exceeds aluminum by $8000–15000. Current financing: no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation. The Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Tile, and Standing Seam profiles eliminate re-roofing cycles, re-coating projects, and the cycle of maintenance that asphalt demands in wet climates.

How much upkeep does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or tile?

Interlock metal roofing requires virtually no maintenance—no annual inspections, no sealant reapplication, no algae treatment—because aluminum doesn't degrade like asphalt and doesn't trap moisture like wood or ceramic. Asphalt shingles in Sampson's 2305 mm annual rainfall lose granules and develop moss, requiring cleaning, coating, and repairs starting year 5–8. Concrete or clay tile cracks in freeze-thaw cycles (38 days per year in Sampson) and demands grout repair. Aluminum resists both: the oxide layer self-heals, the Alunar coating is warranted 30 years against fading, and the interlocking design sheds debris. Once installed over an existing roof or solid deck, Interlock performs without intervention. The Guardian Warranty covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, and curling, removing the maintenance uncertainty that drives repair costs upward over a roof's life. CALGreen verification confirms reduced maintenance needs.

What's the installation process and timeline for a metal roof in Sampson?

Interlock typically installs in 2–5 days depending on roof size and complexity; the process begins with deck inspection and underlayment or solid sheathing installation, followed by fastening the four-way interlocking panels in overlapping rows from eave to ridge. One key advantage: the Tile, Shake, Shingle, and Slate profiles install directly over most existing asphalt roofs without tear-off, saving labor and landfill cost. New-construction or decking-replacement jobs follow standard metal roofing protocols. Grays Harbor's weather—roughly 2789 sunshine hours annually—provides ample dry installation windows, though crews plan around Sampson's frequent rain. Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. has served this region since 1997, managing local permitting, inspections, and project logistics. The lightweight aluminum (Slate at 0.41 lb/sq ft) accelerates installation compared to slate, tile, or shake, reducing labor hours and weather delays. ICC-ES ESR-1790 certification ensures local code compliance on first inspection.

Is aluminum roofing more environmentally responsible than asphalt?

Yes—aluminum is approximately 95% recyclable and ends the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle that removes 10 million tons of shingles annually in North America. When Interlock's lifetime-warranted roof finally reaches end of life (50+ years from now), the panels are melted and reused for automotive, aerospace, or new roofing stock, unlike asphalt that becomes landfill or low-grade paving filler. The manufacturing process in Delta, BC, since 1998 consumes far less energy than producing new asphalt or ceramic tile. Because you install Interlock over most existing roofs, you avoid demolition and haul-away of the old roof, further reducing embodied carbon. Sampson's wet climate accelerates asphalt replacement—typically every 15–20 years—multiplying landfill impact across multiple lifecycle cycles. Choosing one metal roof eliminates 2–3 asphalt replacements and their associated waste, debris transport, and new-material production. The product's durability, not recycling alone, is the sustainability win.

Does a metal roof add value and curb appeal when selling a Sampson home?

Metal roofing adds measurable curb appeal because the five profiles—Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake, Mediterranean Tile, and Standing Seam—replicate high-end architectural materials while looking distinctly modern and well-maintained. Buyers in wet climates like Grays Harbor recognize that a 30+ year-old asphalt roof signals imminent replacement ($8000–15000), whereas a Interlock roof signals zero roofing worry for decades. The Guardian Warranty's one-time transferability—50 years from completion to the next owner—is a powerful selling point; most buyers factor roof replacement into offer price, so eliminating that uncertainty increases perceived home value. The non-prorated lifetime limited warranty on materials (covering rusting, rotting, cracking, curling, and impact loss) gives buyers confidence that weather extremes—Sampson's 2305 mm rain, 38 freeze-thaw days, and 106 km/h gusts—won't degrade their investment. Energy-efficient colors carry published solar-reflectance listing and Cool Roof Rating Council rating, appealing to environmentally conscious buyers. Durability and appearance combine to improve market perception and reduce negotiation friction.

What lifespan and warranty does Interlock offer compared to other roofing materials?

Interlock delivers a lifetime limited non-prorated material warranty for the original owner and a one-time 50-year transferable warranty for the next owner—longer and stronger than any asphalt, wood shake, or most tile warranties. The Guardian Warranty covers rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance, removing the vague fine print that limits most roofing warranties. Designed and manufactured since 1998, Interlock panels have proven 25+ year real-world performance in salt-air coastal homes and Antarctic research stations, confirming durability beyond marketing claims. Asphalt lasts 15–20 years in Sampson's 2305 mm rainfall and 38 freeze-thaw days; wood shake splits and rots within 20–30 years under the same moisture; concrete or clay tile cracks in freeze-thaw cycles and requires grout repair every 10–15 years. Aluminum's oxide layer self-heals, the Alunar 70% PVDF coating is warranted 30 years against fading, and the interlocking design prevents water infiltration. A single Interlock installation outlasts 2–3 asphalt replacements, eliminating the replacement cycle entirely.
