Interlock® Aluminum Roofing — all-climates performance specs for Westhaven, Washington
| Spec / Rating | Climate / Risk Factor + What It Solves |
|---|---|
| Wind resistance: 120+ mph (193+ kph) | Extreme wind, hurricanes, storm uplift: full interlocking attachment helps prevent blow-offs, edge lifting, and panel loss in high-gust events. |
| Fire rating: Class A (with proper assembly) | Wildfire, embers, radiant heat, chimney sparks: non-combustible roof assembly provides the highest residential fire protection rating. |
| Hail resistance: UL 2218 Class 4 | Hail and impact debris: highest impact classification; resists cracking, splitting, and surface loss common with asphalt under hail strikes. |
| Snow & ice performance: interlocking, shedding profile | Heavy snow, freeze-thaw, ice dams: smooth aluminum sheds snow efficiently and the interlocking design helps block water intrusion when melt-refreeze cycles occur. (Final snow-load capacity depends on roof structure and local code.) |
| Corrosion resistance: aluminum (won’t rust) | Salt air, coastal humidity, wet climates: aluminum naturally resists rust and corrosion, reducing long-term failure risk in marine or high-moisture environments. |
| Heat / UV durability: baked-on coating system | High heat, intense sun, thermal cycling: coatings resist UV breakdown and temperature-swing fatigue, slowing fading and surface degradation. |
| Moss / algae resistance: smooth coated surface | Wet shade, organic growth: low-porosity metal surface gives moss/algae less to grip, reducing staining and maintenance. |
| Material: heavy-gauge aluminum roof profiles (Slate / Shake / Shingle / Tile / Standing Seam) | All-season structural stability: lightweight, dent-resistant metal system stays stable through large hot-cold swings and severe weather. |
| Expected lifespan: 50+ years | Long-term durability across climates: avoids re-roof cycles typical of shorter-life materials, even in high-stress environments. |
| Warranty: Lifetime-Limited, non-prorated + 50-year transferable | Lifetime protection + resale value: guarantees long-term material confidence and transfers to future owners. |

What our customers are saying:
It's been about 6 weeks since our new roof was completed, and we are thrilled with the result. The whole process from start to finish was seamless and very efficient. As a salesperson myself, I was impressed with the 'no pressure' approach to selling us the roof and the information that was provided to us to make an informed decision on the type of roof for our home. We chose the black slate and it looks very smart and has transformed the look of our home considerably. Since the roof was installed, we have had the usual mixed bag of Washington weather - heavy rain, hail, strong winds, and frost. Our roof has been put to the test and passed with flying colors. Frank observed the installation process and was impressed with the seamless flashing, custom-made on site, and state of the art vent coverings. Our roof looks beautiful and stands out from the others in our neighborhood. We were particularly impressed with the workmanship of Victor and Mark Lomakin, the two men who installed the roof. They were punctual, fast, courteous, respectful, efficient and very professional. Our neighbors also commented on how well they worked. When the roof was complete, they cleared away all debris and even removed the unwanted satellite dish from our roof. It couldn't have gone better. We received all the financial documentation in a timely manner and all of the employees we have dealt with have been very knowledgeable and helpful. Our only criticism is that it would be nice to have an online payment facility for overpayments. Currently the only way to do that is to mail a payment to Canada but we don't have checks so we would have to purchase money orders and mail them as we intend to make over-payments along the way. We would happily recommend Interlock to anyone looking for a new roof. Kind regards Jennifer and Frank Herboldsheimer Ocean Shores, WA
To whom it may concern I would like to commend you on your roofing products, and your choice employees. I recently had my roof replaced by your firm, I have received multiple compliments as to how nice it looks and enhances the appearance of my home. All your employees have been top notch, honest and genuinely helpful. Ross, your salesman, was great. He did not pressure us, we felt that he had our best interest at heart. He pointed out the options and showed us ways that we could reduce the financial impact. The two installers were Ukrainian. I did not get their names, but they were respectful and very business-like. They took their job very seriously and worked sunup to sundown (10 + hours) for the three days they were here. l did not see them take a break during that time. Lastly, Renee in the office was charged with the task of reminding me of the payment schedule, she did so with a great attitude and friendliness. Our experience was very positive. I would recommend your business to anyone looking for a new roof. Our job was accomplished with minimal interruption to our life. Our home was left pretty much as it was found except, we have a new roof. I do not anticipate any problems for the next 50+ years. [modula id="138011"]

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Westhaven
The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Westhaven, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Westhaven.
Will a metal roof handle Westhaven's heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?
Yes—aluminum's smooth surface and thermal properties make it excellent for snow management in your climate. Westhaven receives about 60 cm of snow annually and experiences roughly 38 freeze-thaw days per year, both conditions that can trap moisture under asphalt but slide cleanly off metal. The four-way interlocking panels are sealed tight, and aluminum won't split or crack as temperatures cycle between freezing and thaw. Snow guards are available if you prefer to manage snow strategically rather than shed it all at once.
How does metal roofing stand up to Westhaven's 2300+ mm of annual rainfall?
Metal roofing excels in heavy rain because the panels interlock four ways, creating continuous pathways that shed water immediately without pooling. Your region receives roughly 2305 mm of rain per year—more than double the North American average—which means asphalt's granule washout and wood's rot risk are genuine concerns over time. Aluminum oxide layer cannot rot or degrade from water exposure, and the ICC-ES ESR-1790 evaluation confirms leak protection under design rainfall loads. Installation over solid decking with proper underlayment keeps your home as quiet and dry as any other roof type.
Why is aluminum roofing better than steel in a wet, rainy climate like Westhaven?
Aluminum cannot rust because it contains no iron—the metal that oxidizes in salt air or wet climates. Instead, aluminum develops a microscopic oxide layer that actually heals itself when scratched, protecting the core indefinitely. Westhaven's 2305 mm annual rainfall and occasional coastal moisture mean rust-prone steel roofing will eventually fail; aluminum thrives in exactly these conditions. The Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon finish is applied to both sides of each panel for extra salt-air protection and is warranted 30 years against chalking and fading. After 30 years, the aluminum itself remains sound.
Does metal roofing stay secure in Westhaven's winter storms and coastal gusts?
Completely. The four-way interlocking panel design locks each piece to its neighbors, and the system is warranted to resist wind speeds up to 120 mph when installed to specification. Westhaven's typical wind gusts reach about 106 km/h (66 mph), well within rated capacity, so seasonal storms pose no structural threat. The lightweight nature of aluminum—about 0.41 lb/sq ft for the Shingle profile—means wind forces are lower than they would be on heavier slate or tile, yet the interlock pattern and fastening create superior holding power. Your roof will stay put through decades of Pacific Northwest weather.
What protection does a metal roof offer against hail damage and will my insurance notice?
Interlock metal roofing carries UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the warranty even covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. While Westhaven's hail risk is moderate due to maritime air masses, the Class 4 rating gives you peace of mind and may qualify you for insurance discounts because insurers recognize the durability advantage. Unlike asphalt that can blister or dent easily, or wood that cracks under impact, aluminum's inherent strength and flexibility absorb hail energy without permanent deformation. Talk to your insurer about premium reductions; many carriers reward this upgrade.
Can my existing roof framing handle a metal roof, or will I need reinforcement?
Your home almost certainly needs no structural reinforcement. The Interlock Tile profile—which gives you the visual weight of traditional clay or concrete tile—installs at just 0.59 lb/sq ft, making it approximately 96% lighter than the real thing. Even the heavier Shake profile weighs only 0.58 lb/sq ft. Because metal roofing is so light, it installs directly over most existing asphalt or wood roofs without sistering joists or adding support beams. Westhaven homes built to standard code are more than strong enough. This advantage saves you thousands in labor and material costs while keeping installation timelines short.
What's the real lifespan of a metal roof, and what does the warranty actually cover?
The Guardian warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original homeowner—covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance with no percentage phase-out over time. If you sell, the next owner receives 50 years of coverage from completion, making it a genuine selling point. The aluminum substrate is corrosion-proof and doesn't degrade; the coating is warranted 30 years against fading and chalking (ASTM D4214/D2244 measured). Combined with Westhaven's 2789 annual sunshine hours and 38 freeze-thaw cycles, this means your roof will outlast multiple asphalt replacements and remain sound for your lifetime and into the next generation's ownership.
Is a metal roof worth the upfront cost compared to replacing asphalt shingles again and again?
Metal roofing is the last roof you'll buy. Asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years in Westhaven's rainy climate (2305 mm rainfall annually accelerates granule loss); you'll replace it 2–3 times in your lifetime, each time paying for tear-off labor, dumpster fees, and new materials. Metal roofing lasts indefinitely and transfers 50 years of coverage to the next owner, eliminating the tear-off-to-landfill cycle. Current financing includes no payments and no interest until Spring 2027, or 10% off installation, making the entry cost manageable. Over 50+ years, the math is clear: one metal roof beats three asphalt replacements, plus you save on maintenance, avoid ice dam damage, and gain resale appeal.
How much maintenance does a metal roof really need compared to asphalt or wood?
Metal roofing requires virtually no ongoing maintenance. Asphalt shingles need regular inspections for granule loss (accelerated in Westhaven's 2305 mm annual rainfall), wood shakes split and rot during 38 freeze-thaw cycles, and slate cracks from ice expansion. Aluminum doesn't split, rot, or degrade; it sheds debris naturally due to its smooth surface. The Alunar® fluorocarbon coating won't chalk or fade (30-year warranty), so you won't need cleaning or recoating. No algae growth, no moss in the 2789 sunshine hours per year, no gutter clogging from granule breakdown. A visual inspection every few years and gutter maintenance—which you'd do anyway—is all that's needed.
Who installs Interlock metal roofing in Westhaven, and how experienced are they?
Interlock Metal Roofing (PNW) Inc. serves Westhaven and Grays Harbor County with over 25 years of regional experience since 1997—they know Pacific Northwest weather intimately and have installed roofing from coastal salt-air homes to extreme environments worldwide. They understand snow load management, wind-driven rain sealing, and the specific challenges of your climate. The company manufactures Interlock panels right in Delta, BC, so you're working with the maker's authorized installer, not a distant contractor unfamiliar with the product. They can discuss the current promotion (no payments/no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation), answer warranty questions directly, and ensure your roof meets ICC-ES ESR-1790 code requirements for your area.
