Review: February 14, 2024 Completion: February 1, 2024

On the first night, I heard some weird dripping noises in the walls. I emailed a video to the sales guys because I didn't have anyone else's email. I never heard back. The leak when it occurred was in a different part of the house, so I guess it's just fine, but it would a have been nice to know if it was leaking inside the walls or something. It's nerve wracking replacing a roof in this climate at this time of year, and I would have been happy to wait for better weather. Good product, good people

Review: February 19, 2020 Completion: February 19, 2020

It's been about 6 weeks since our new roof was completed, and we are thrilled with the result. The whole process from start to finish was seamless and very efficient. As a salesperson myself, I was impressed with the 'no pressure' approach to selling us the roof and the information that was provided to us to make an informed decision on the type of roof for our home. We chose the black slate and it looks very smart and has transformed the look of our home considerably. Since the roof was installed, we have had the usual mixed bag of Washington weather - heavy rain, hail, strong winds, and frost. Our roof has been put to the test and passed with flying colors. Frank observed the installation process and was impressed with the seamless flashing, custom-made on site, and state of the art vent coverings. Our roof looks beautiful and stands out from the others in our neighborhood. We were particularly impressed with the workmanship of Victor and Mark Lomakin, the two men who installed the roof. They were punctual, fast, courteous, respectful, efficient and very professional. Our neighbors also commented on how well they worked. When the roof was complete, they cleared away all debris and even removed the unwanted satellite dish from our roof. It couldn't have gone better. We received all the financial documentation in a timely manner and all of the employees we have dealt with have been very knowledgeable and helpful. Our only criticism is that it would be nice to have an online payment facility for overpayments. Currently the only way to do that is to mail a payment to Canada but we don't have checks so we would have to purchase money orders and mail them as we intend to make over-payments along the way. We would happily recommend Interlock to anyone looking for a new roof. Kind regards Jennifer and Frank Herboldsheimer Ocean Shores, WA

Review: March 8, 2018 Completion: February 24, 2018

I will not recommend, but I will give the the option of Interlock Roofing to other people needing a roof. I think Interlock Roofing could improve on cooperating with the customer more for delivering materials and the start time. The original time frame was 3-4 days. It took over a week to get the project done because of weather. They could improve their issue with communication with the installers. Not all of the installers spoke English. If I had to do it over again, then I would not.

Metal Roofing FAQs for Homeowners in Ocean Shores

The following metal roofing FAQs are designed specifically for homeowners in Ocean Shores, Washington. Whether you are building a new home or replacing an existing roof, understanding how roofing materials perform in local weather conditions is essential. From wind and storm protection to fire resistance, hail impact, snow loads, and coastal moisture exposure, Interlock’s Lifetime Aluminum Roofing System is engineered to provide long-term durability, energy efficiency, and peace of mind in Ocean Shores.

How does a metal roof handle Ocean Shores' heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles?

Metal roofs shed snow and ice far more effectively than asphalt because aluminum's smooth surface prevents ice dams that trap meltwater. Ocean Shores averages about 60 cm of snow annually with roughly 38 freeze-thaw days per year—conditions that crack and curl asphalt shingles. Interlock's four-way interlocking panels create a unified surface that doesn't absorb moisture, so repeated freeze-thaw cycles don't degrade the material. Aluminum itself won't split or rot as snow and ice settle on it. Snow guards can be added if you prefer managed snow release rather than rapid shedding.

Why won't my metal roof rust in Ocean Shores' salty, wet climate?

Interlock roofing is manufactured from roofing-grade 3105-H24 and 3003-H24 aluminum alloy, which contains no iron—the element that rusts. Instead, aluminum forms a thin, invisible oxide layer that naturally protects the metal and heals itself when scratched. The Alunar® 70% PVDF fluorocarbon coating is applied to both sides of every panel, providing extra defense in salt-air environments. This dual-sided protection, combined with aluminum's inherent corrosion resistance, is why Interlock has installed roofs on coastal homes since 1998 and even at an Antarctic research station. Steel roofing rusts; aluminum simply does not.

Can a metal roof handle Ocean Shores' 2,300 mm of annual rainfall without leaking?

Yes. Interlock's four-way interlocking design creates overlapping seams that naturally shed water downward and outward—the same principle that makes metal roofing standard in high-rainfall regions worldwide. With Ocean Shores receiving about 2,300 mm of rain per year, a roof must manage both volume and velocity. The interlocked panels prevent water from being forced upward under wind-driven rain because each panel is mechanically locked to its neighbor on all four sides. When installed to specification over a solid deck and underlayment, the roof performs identically to asphalt in wet conditions but without the degradation asphalt experiences—no moss growth, no saturation, no granule loss.

Will my metal roof blow off in Ocean Shores' coastal winds?

No. Interlock metal roofing is warranted to resist sustained winds up to 120 mph (193 km/h) when installed to specification. Ocean Shores' typical gusts reach about 106 km/h, well within that margin. The four-way interlocking system—where each panel locks mechanically to north, south, east, and west neighbors—distributes wind load across the entire roof rather than relying on fasteners alone. This distributed-load design is why interlocking panels outperform fastener-dependent roofing in storm conditions. Your roof is literally one continuous structure, not 100 independent shingles fighting the wind. The warranty covers wind performance, and the ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-1790) verifies this under IBC/IRC code standards.

Can hail damage my metal roof, and will homeowners insurance help?

Interlock achieves UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating—the highest available—and the Guardian Warranty covers perforation from hailstones up to 1.5 inches. Class 4 impact resistance exceeds most homeowners insurance requirements, and many insurers recognize this rating as grounds for policy credits or discounts. Ocean Shores' climate features significant wind and moisture rather than frequent hail, but the Class 4 rating means your roof is protected against impact damage far beyond what wood shake, asphalt, or concrete tile can withstand. Contact your insurer with the UL 2218 Class 4 certification to discuss potential premium reductions—many carriers reward impact-resistant roofing.

Is a metal roof more expensive than asphalt when you factor in the long term?

An Interlock metal roof costs more upfront than asphalt but becomes the last roof you install. Asphalt typically lasts 15–20 years and requires tear-off removal and landfill disposal each cycle; Interlock carries a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, plus 50 years of coverage for one transferable new owner. Over 50 years, you avoid two or three asphalt replacements, plus labor, disposal fees, and disruption. Ocean Shores' 2,300 mm annual rainfall and 38 freeze-thaw cycles accelerate asphalt degradation. The current promotion—no payments and no interest until Spring 2027 or 10% off installation—reduces initial cost. Financing it to match an asphalt replacement cycle often costs less than the asphalt replacements themselves.

What warranty does Interlock offer, and how does it protect my investment?

The Guardian Warranty is a lifetime limited, non-prorated material warranty for the original owner, covering rusting, rotting, splitting, cracking, curling, and loss of impact resistance. It is one-time transferable, protecting a second owner for 50 years from completion. Non-prorated means Interlock covers defects the same way in year 5 as in year 50—no declining coverage. The Alunar® coating itself carries a separate 30-year warranty against chalking and fading per ASTM D4214. Ocean Shores' 2,305 hours of annual sunshine and salt air test coatings severely; Interlock's dual-sided PVDF finish and aluminum's corrosion resistance underpin this confidence. This is the warranty of a roof engineered to outlast the house.

How much maintenance does a metal roof need compared to asphalt or tile?

Interlock metal roofing requires no more maintenance than asphalt and significantly less than wood shake or clay tile. No granule loss, no curling, no cracking from freeze-thaw, no wood rot or insect damage. Occasional gutter cleaning and visual inspection are all that's needed. Asphalt requires moss and algae treatment in wet climates, especially in regions with 2,300 mm of rain per year like Ocean Shores. Wood shake demands regular sealing and repair. Clay or concrete tile requires re-grouting and individual tile replacement. The CALGreen certification recognizes Interlock's reduced-maintenance profile. Ocean Shores' 38 annual freeze-thaw days would degrade asphalt and wood within 10–15 years; aluminum panels ignore freeze-thaw entirely. Your real savings are in time and money not spent on repairs.

Do I need to reinforce my house's structure to support a metal roof?

No. Interlock's aluminum panels are extraordinarily light—the Slate profile installs at approximately 0.41 lb per square foot, and the Mediterranean Tile profile, though heavier at about 0.59 lb per square foot, is roughly 96% lighter than concrete or clay tile. This means no structural reinforcement is required, and the roof can be installed over most existing asphalt, wood shake, or even old metal roofing. Ocean Shores' building codes and structural standards account for typical roof loads; aluminum's light weight sits well below those thresholds. In contrast, traditional slate or tile upgrades often require expensive framing reinforcement—sometimes $5,000–$15,000 in additional labor. Interlock delivers the aesthetic of these premium materials without the structural cost or installation burden.

Is a metal roof more environmentally responsible than asphalt?

Yes. Interlock aluminum roofing is approximately 95% recyclable and ends the asphalt tear-off-to-landfill cycle. When an asphalt roof reaches end of life after 15–20 years, it is removed, bundled, and buried in a landfill; this cycle repeats indefinitely. Ocean Shores receives roughly 2,300 mm of rain annually, accelerating asphalt degradation and the frequency of landfill disposal. Interlock metal roofing lasts 50+ years and, at end of life, is simply recycled into new aluminum products—no landfill, no new mining required. The aluminum alloy (3105-H24 / 3003-H24) used is itself often recycled content. This closed-loop model, verified by CALGreen standards, means your roof investment removes waste from the local environmental burden while maintaining structural integrity through decades of wet, freeze-thaw weather.
